Rebuilding Nigeria: Solutions That Make Sense.
()
About this ebook
This book detailed my views and those of 100 respondents drawn from across the nation on what the issues (problems/challenges) are, the root causes, the perpetuating factors, the results and the viable solutions to the national problems.
While what you already know as regards these – corruption, tribalism/ethnicity, poor/bad leadership and poor citizen participant topped the list of challenges; national restructuring, constitutional review and citizen engagement were cited as viable solutions.
I also took the liberty to introduce the concept of a United Nations of Nigeria (UNON) – similar to the UAE algorithm. We need to take relevant steps to rebuild Nigeria. The time to start is now. Join the campaign.

Pulse and Reflect:
Nigeria was Great, and Shall be Great AGAIN
Let me begin this book in a positive note. Nigeria shall be great again! I have lived in this country long enough to know that Nigeria is one of the greatest nations of the world. It is also the most blessed nation with excellent weather, wonderful people, great landscape, sufficient natural resources and amazing sociocultural practices.
Years ago, I travelled out to work in another African country. But despite the excellent pay and wonderful benefits, I had to return to Nigeria after a year to begin afresh – because I strongly missed my country.
People complain about the absence of electric power, corruption at high and low places, poor infrastructures, and even unskilled leadership at all levels. These are true. But what we fail to tell the world about our good country are the wonderful things we have as a nation - the people, the food, the game reserves, and the weather.
Am I saying that there are no bad things in Nigeria? No. Like in any other country, there are so many bad things happening in this Nigeria – Boko Haram in the north, kidnapping in the south, abuse of office in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, and corruption by the high and mighty as well as by the drivers and messengers, and several others. The social vices and economic crimes in any country are peculiar to that country as a result of their political and socio-economic exposure and experiences. However, there are more good things happening in this country than the bad things. I believe that the time has come for us to refocus and begin to tell the world the good things in our nation, play positive roles to make the country a better place, and work tirelessly to ensure that we leave a greater country for our children than the one our fathers left for us.
For instance, I brought to completion the house my father left behind. Beyond the buildings made of bricks and walls, every seed of goodness left behind by our forefathers are to be magnified by us to produce a giant tree of which the next generation can further work upon. With this, we wouldn’t be found playing the blame game.
We have over the years blamed everything and everybody for the present state of the nation. Never have we blamed ourselves. It is time to take full responsibility for our nation and work to see it better. Nigeria can and should be great again! I believe this and I want you to believe it with me. We can make Nigeria great again. We can change the face of Nigeria and give her a new brand. I am not speaking about lying to ourselves in the name of rebranding Nigeria, but doing the right things to rebrand the country.
This informed my decision to call for a MINUTE prayer for Nigeria every first day of a new month by 9.00 pm. This we began in the month of April 2016. The response was amazing. A friend and his family visited me on April 1st and stayed till 9.00 PM. We had an extended family prayer for Nigeria with the visiting family. What an awesome experience. We all enjoyed it, and yes, my family and friends were glad to be part of this process. I look forward to every 1st when again we will pray for Nigeria. Someone may be saying that we have prayed enough. That prayer is not what Nigeria needs. This statement is far from the truth because you can never pray enough. We cannot claim to have prayed enough until we have our desired nation. Therefore, join us next 1st of the month and together we will move Nigeria forward.
What is unique about this prayer group? We not only pray for Nigeria, but also get involved in social change activities every month. Many members have executed several excellent social change activities. Some cleaned the gutters, some paid peoples’ fees, some helped the widows and orphans, some visited the prison, and some attended multiracial marriages and made a difference. Also, some visited the poor and supported them financially, some even counselled people on various issues of life, some gave money to non-governmental organizations, etc. As the reports keep coming, it amazes me how simple steps can trigger such a global social change movement.
Will you join us? Pray for Nigeria every 1st day of the month by 9.00 PM. This can be as short as just for a Minute. Do something good to someone every 15th day of the month. This should be planned and implemented. To change Nigeria and see her great again, we all MUST do something positive. Let us save our energy from complaining about what is not working and invest our energy into making things work. Let us desist from the blame game and subscribe to the burden sharing game – where we bear the burden of Nigeria for Nigeria and the rest of the world.
If you truly care for Nigeria, now is the time to play a crucial role to revitalize the country, rebuild her systems and institutionalize good practices. It is time to live by example and be the change we all want to see. It is time to stand out from the crowd and take a place in the hall of fame of good and proud Nigerians. Will you join us to make history? Will you join us to change this country positively? Now is the time for the change you have long waited to see. Let us together make it happen.
Nigeria shall be great again. My Vision for Nigeria is to see Nigeria become a free first world nation. We can make a difference towards the realization of an advanced African Continent, work with likeminded individuals to leave a legacy by empowering Africans to succeed through mentorship, trainings and psychological reprogramming. This is the essence of this book. Together, we can make Nigeria great again.
