About this ebook

Some time ago, Aaron and Evelyn Freeman’s seemingly ordinary existence was turned upside down when they met a mysterious boy from the underworld. Now the orphanage has been destroyed, the Brotherhood is in disarray, Evelyn is still at large, and Aaron is battling the overwhelming guilt that comes with not being able to save a girl who died in his arms.

Aaron and Christopher must rely on their unyielding faith in God as they search for a way to return to the cave to rescue the last group of refugees before they are lost forever. Prophesies are being fulfilled and signs of the end are evident to all those who are attentive. Judgment will come, the wrath of the Emancipator will fall on all who are against Him, and the lost sons of Abba will be revealed before the final, decisive battle to end all wars. Who will survive and who will be cast into eternal darkness before the cave is evacuated?

Evacuate the Cave concludes the exciting tale of the Freeman family and the lost troglodytes as they await their eternal destiny.

    Message From The Author

    PROLOGUE

    D arkness.

A total absence of anything visible or tangible encompassed creation. An explosion of space and matter shattered the void with one verse. Let there be light.

The Author continued to speak while His Living Word composed in harmony. His Spirit entered the physical realm to delight in the beauty and perfection of His design. The heavenly host celebrated as their King concluded His masterpiece by forming a small image of Himself and breathing into it the breath of life.

The newly formed man was then joined by a creature of incredible beauty, who was similar to himself in form but distinctive in her allure. Together Ish and Isha reigned over the kingdom of Rodinia, caring for the beasts of the field, the fowl of the air, and the abundant vegetation in a paradise made for them.

The Author delighted over His workmanship as a Father takes pleasure in watching his children enjoy life. At the same time, He was grieved by knowing the chapters of suffering and heartache that Ish and his descendants would endure before the conclusion of their story.

    CHAPTER ONE

A stra, the morning star, rose over the horizon as mourning gave way to a new day in Rodinia. Daybreak revealed Aaron’s grimy hands soiled with a mixture of dirt and dry blood. Unable to wipe the constant tears that burned his eyes, he led his friends toward the cloud of smoke that continued to ascend in the direction of the Woodland Orphanage.

Aaron, Christopher called from a few meters behind him, we need to stop for a minute. Ilissa and Aur can’t keep up with us with these sacks over their heads.

They both knew the girls’ eyes would need more time to adjust to the natural light of day since they had spent so much of their lives in the complete darkness of the cave. Without turning to face him, Aaron replied, You wait here with them. I’ll scout ahead to see what’s left of the orphanage. Aaron didn’t wait to see if Chris agreed with his instructions as he concealed his head and bolted forward through the thick underbrush.

With every stride, the tree branches rolled back like curtains to reveal the smoldering ruins of what used to be their sanctuary. Through broken walls, Aaron could see a huge crater surrounded by rubble. Aaron fell to his knees and hung his head, unable to produce any more tears, as he prayed, Abba, I don’t understand. Why did You lead us into the cave instead of letting us die here with our friends? At least then we would all be together in Your presence. What am I supposed to do now?

Aaron thought he heard a familiar voice call his name, but he refused to acknowledge it. He had read stories from history that told of Abba revealing Himself to humanity in numerous ways, but he had also experienced the enemy’s deception firsthand. Aaron closed his eyes tighter while the smoke brought back memories of the day the goblin army stole his baby sister, killed their father, and destroyed their home with fire.

With the voice getting louder and his anger increasing, he stood up and turned toward the sound. A tall shadow waited for him as he sprinted to the edge of the forest with closed hands as his only weapons. A scream burst out of Aaron as he released the fear and anger inside him while the hooded figure’s smile became evident. Aaron froze in place as his close friend and mentor, Brother Jason, uncovered his head and said, Hey there, buddy. It’s nice to see you too.

Brother Jason reached under Aaron’s chin to close his gaping mouth and put his arm over his shoulder to lead him into the forest. He explained, I found Christopher with a couple of emancipated girls a few moments ago, and they told me where I’d find you. They should still be waiting where I left them.

Aaron fell behind a few paces, which caused Brother Jason to stop and say to him, I know you have a lot of questions. I do too. But let’s wait until we meet up with the others so we can all safely converse over a warm meal, okay?

They followed a delightful smell back to the makeshift camp Christopher had prepared. He stood up to meet them while signaling them to be quiet. The girls, with their heads still covered, were huddled together and seemed to be sleeping soundly. Aaron dropped his gear to his sides and collapsed on a pile of leaves while breathing heavily. Jason sat beside him and took a bowl of soup that Christopher had rushed over to him.

This is delicious! You should have some, Aaron, Brother Jason teased as he slurped the entire bowl’s contents and then wiped his mouth with his tattered tunic. Christopher looked confused as he retrieved the bowl to refill it for Aaron.

Where were you? demanded Aaron while staring at the rays of light piercing the forest canopy. A troglodyte girl died in my arms, and we almost didn’t make it out of the cave!

What happened to Evelyn? Jason asked as he extended a bowl to him.

Aaron huffed and turned away from Jason’s offering. He didn’t want to explain the struggle they had had with her or mention the transformation she underwent as she became addicted to the passion fruit. He simply stood silently, breathing deeply while listening to the wind rustling the branches above them.

Christopher finally broke the silence by answering Brother Jason’s question to Aaron. She chose to stay in the cave.

After a long pause, he continued to share more information with his mentor. Brother Jason, I felt the Spirit of Abba with us the entire time we were down there. He led Ilissa to us and gave us the courage to stand against the high priest, but we were completely unprepared to fight against the entire goblin army!

Jason smiled and lifted an eyebrow. "Your mission was not to fight the enemy but to proclaim
