About this ebook

This book is a 52 week devotional that ministers to an individual each week during the hour of prayer. I have lost many opportunities to listen to the voice of God during the wee hours of the morning because I did not want to get up out of bed. These opportunities were never re-gained so as a result, I had to wait until God woke me up again to speak. This devotional is designed to help a person to realize when God speaks and how to develop a close relationship with God. It is so important to know how much joy comes with midnight prayer and allowing the Lord to speak during the calmness of the hour.

    DEDICATION

We dedicate this book to all God’s people who have developed a love for prayer and, also know the necessity of such. For the one who have experienced their personal midnight and concluded that it was at midnight where God did visit and showed wonders beyond expectation, this is also for you. For those who are asking God for a deeper prayer life and relationship with him, be blessed as the words unfold!

We also dedicate this book to the prayer ministry of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church who meet in prayer consistently on behalf of God’s people; not only praying but interceding for the down-trodden, the weary, the sick and prayer that will encourage and up-lift. Your love for prayer will never be forgotten but God will reward at his given time. Never stop praying but keep pressing to higher grounds through the words of prayer.

    From,

    God’s servant - Mable

    THANK YOU

I thank the Lord God Almighty for giving me this opportunity to once again write in order to help and/or grow His people. I must thank Evangelist Arlee Martin of Denver, Co. who, one day, ask my purpose as a minister’s wife. The response was to help God’s people grow and to this day with her encouragement down through the years have allowed me to achieve. This devotional is to help, encourage, and cause God’s people to advance in his Word and to never be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I also would like to thank those who have gone on before, who laid the foundation I now stand on, and helped me to develop a love for prayer. People, such as: my grandmother, Ida Bell Phillips; my great aunt and uncle, Pastor Ezzie Lee Henderson and Deacon Clarence Henderson, Pastor Rosie Summers; Sister Vashti Boushiers; Mother Mary Harris; District Elder Walter Scott, District Elder E.L. and Evangelist Lorene Gordon, and District Elder Edmond and Evangelist Ethel M. Berry along with others too numerous to name. You did not accept any foolishness from me, and I say, thank you. Your hard work and labor in preparing me for this day will always be remembered.

I also would like to thank my husband, Bishop Carnest Mitchell for continuing and extending prayer within the church when he became pastor. He encouraged us to intensify prayer not only within the church but also within ourselves. Because of this intensity, prayer has been continued and passed on to our present pastor – Dr. Carnest D. Mitchell, a pastor who prays and intensifies prayer even more. Keep prayer going!!!

    I will always be grateful.

    MIDNIGHT PRAYER

    PURPOSE

    1. To enter into a higher dimension of prayer.

    2. Learn how to pray.

    3. Learn what to say when one prays.

    4. Learn how to effectively receive results through praying the right prayer.

    5. Know the necessity of intercession.

    6. Know the difference between the right and wrong prayer.

    7. Midnight is not necessarily one-minute past 11:59 pm but whatever designated time that is set aside to communicate with God.

    8. A prayer life should be developed in order to have a personal relationship with God.

    9. Midnight could be an assigned place where God visits softly.

    10. Midnight is a place of deliverance and healing.

    11. A place where God will commune with you and you with him where you will be able to walk hand-n-hand with God and lay your head on his breast as he speaks gently.

    12. A place where only you can meet God in your secret place.

    13. An intimate place of peace, love, and joy where the anointing dwells.

    14. A place to where all trouble is laid.

    15. A place where only God matters.

    16. A place where it does not matter if others understand.

    17. A place where others are not invited for the purpose of establishing their own midnight.

    18. A place of continuity.

    19. A place where the Holy Spirit resides and works.

    20. A place where prayer is not a ritual but a necessity for the good of the people.

    My utmost prayer of commitment:

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred, let me sow love

    Where there is injury, pardon

    Where there is doubt, faith

    Where there is despair, hope

    Where there is darkness, light

And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may

Not so much seek to be consoled as to console

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love

For it is in giving that we receive

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned

And it’s in dying that we are born to eternal life.

    Amen

St. Francis, born 1182 in the town of Assisi in Italy. He is the founder of Franciscan religious order. At the age of twenty, he devoted himself to a life of prayer. Three years later, Francis embraced a life of poverty and dedicated himself to God.

    INTRODUCTION

Someone asked the question, Why midnight? How come the time isn’t 12:00 noon or early morning after the sun peaks over the horizon? 8:00 pm seems to be more feasible than midnight. The answer simply put is, midnight can represent anytime of the day or night. Everyone’s midnight is different. Whatever time your midnight comes, embrace it, love on it, and be thankful for it for God will meet you there.

Midnight comes because God loved us enough to take midnight experiences and sweeten the negative with joy. The scripture reminds us that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning, Psalms 30:5.

To all my brothers and sisters in Christ, friends, and well-wishers, I urge you to see the positive side of every negative experience. Life’s journey will only be what we make of it.

    • Sweet or bitter, it’s our choice!

    • Good or bad, it’s our choice!

    • Light or dark, it’s our choice!

    • Black or white, it’s our choice!

    • Clear or fuzzy, it’s our choice!

    • Pretty or ugly, it’s our choice!

    • Large or small, it’s our choice!

You see, it’s all about what we make out of the situation and how important it is for things to be in the will of God. It all depends on how we react to the situation. It’s all about our attitude in every situation and how we handle such. When we stop looking at the glass as half empty but half full, then and only then will we see God filling it to the top, packed with love and joy unspeakable.

I encourage all to Praise God and be thankful unto him for another day of new beginnings.
