    DEDICATED TO…

First and foremost, this book is dedicated to God, the source of every good and perfect gift. It is lovingly dedicated to my beloved wife, Ida Mae Jones and to our three children and their spouses: Rev. Jeremy Jones and his wife, Stephanie; Sirena Jones and her husband, Walter; and Letitia Jones-Hines. Also, I dedicate this book to our six grandchildren: Mia, Joshua, and Faith Jones; Trevon and Joniah Hines; and Seridian Jones. I send a special dedication to the entire Jones and Tucker families. In addition to the above mentioned, I dedicate The Rapture: Don’t Miss This Flight to the officers and members of Faith Missionary Baptist Church who has allowed me to serve as their pastor for the past twenty years. Last, and certainly not least, this book is dedicated to you the reader.

    FOREWORD

Dr. George A. Jones Jr. engages a sadly neglected biblical teaching and doctrine about The Rapture with a clear commitment to the Word of God concerning what is yet to come to pass. He approaches the subject matter with a pastor’s heart and a preacher’s passion. It comes as a word of encouragement and a word of warning. Dr. Jones provides motivation for the church to discover its divine identity about the eschaton, last days, with a practical application of the Word and a relevant message of hope. I highly recommend this book as a valuable instructional resource for preachers, teachers, and group leaders.

    ENDORSEMENT COMMENTS

Dr. G.A. Jones, Jr. does an excellent job in providing an in-depth, detailed analysis of a subject matter that warrants consideration given the times in which we live. From beginning to end, this reader found himself both captivated and challenged to stay on the path which leads to life eternal. Dr. Jones is to be commended for a job well-done. -—Pastor Frank T. White, JD, M.Div. Senior Pastor, Antioch Bible Fellowship Raleigh, NC

The Rapture: Don’t Miss This Flight is a volume that presents an apocalyptic scenario of the future and a literal prediction of future events. Dr. George A. Jones Jr. offers hope to his readers by showing them God’s final victory over evil and the eventual rewards for the faithful.

–Reverend Dr. Mary M. Heggie, Associate Minister, New Providence Missionary Baptist Church Fuquay Varina, N.C. and CEO/President of the N.C. Association for Women in Ministry, Inc. Raleigh, N.C.

    PREFACE

BUILDING A CASE FOR MY BELIEF IN

    THE PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE

The Rapture is one of the most controversial subjects of Christianity. There are countless views about the rapture. There are three basic viewpoints about the Rapture-Namely, Pre-tribulation, Mid- Tribulation and Post Tribulation. Those who believe in the Pre-Tribulation contend that the rapture will take place before the tribulation. Thus, the church will escape the tribulation. Those who believe in the Mid-Tribulation contend that the Rapture will take place 31/2 years into the tribulation. Those who believe in the Post Tribulation believe that the rapture will take place after the tribulation.

Aside from these three basic viewpoints there are some who believe that there will be no rapture. They believe that Jesus will come and set up his kingdom on earth. Proponents of the three basic viewpoints believe that the Rapture and Christ’s coming are two separate events. I believe in the pre- tribulation position. I also believe that the Rapture and Second Coming represents two gatherings of different groups of people. Therefore, I intend to build a case for the pre-tribulation rapture based on scripture. As we look at the scriptures we will pay close attention to certain words and phrases.
