FOREWARD
Ernestine Walker has hit a home run because she has touched all bases in the field of relationships. She has touched the tender areas and the critical ones that are needed to make decisions. This book makes the statement love is a choice we make
so true.
It is the most comprehensive book on this subject I have read. I would recommend it based on the practicums alone because they reach people where they are and move them to where they should be in their personal lives.
The way the book is organized allows the person to move away from the romantic myths into the reality of what is needed to get to the real things that you want in your life with a mate.
It helps you make the hard decisions that move us to our objectives. Ernestine Walker has taken a big subject and problem and done some great research and given it some indepth thought provoking attention that will give others some solutions.
She has given us a fantastic tool to use in personal relationships. It is an important, stimulating book in the area of seeking a mate, taking control of your personal destiny and maintaining a relationship.
This book makes each individual take some responsibilities for the future that they have participated in making and will live with, either alone or with another person.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As early as 1969, Ernestine Walker, who received her B.A. in Psychology from City College, knew that she wanted to know as much as possible about male-female relationships. This realization caused her to constantly read about and study these relationships.
Her diverse professional career consisting of academic, government, and business posts have all been instrumental in fine tuning her awareness about how relationships work. In 1989, when information about the riff between the Black man and women began to surface she found that because of the expertise she had spent twenty years accumulating, she was able to assist with the problem.
That same year she founded National Pairing Systems, creators of a series of phenomenally successful seminars that have helped thousands of Black Men and Women find exactly right
mates and build satisfying relationships. National Pairing Systems made use of all the information about relationships that she had learned from the research component of her previous company, Scientific Pairing Services. She was therefore able to offer the best methods for finding suitable mates and building satisfying relationships available today. As a trainer for Columbia University, she continued to grow. Her career with New York City Government was highlighted by in 1989 appointment as Women’s advisor. She received a Special Recognition Award for serving in that capacity. Although she sees herself primarily as a problem solver, her writing career includes authoring "Why Some People Meet Mates and Friends and others Do Not; writing for both the New York Recorder and the Pittsburgh Courier; and originating a play about the relationships and lives of Black Men and Women. The play received the Audelco Certificate of
Excellence."
Ernestine Walker describes herself as an ordinary person who has extraordinary aspirations for both herself and others. She fervently believes that everyone should at least have a loving mate whom they love. Towards this end, she does not dwell on the problems which presently undermine Black male-female relationships. She goes to the heart of the solutions. Commitment to his concept has been her driving force.
Her work has been featured on NBC News, in the Amsterdam News, the Village Voice, and various other newspapers.
In addition to sharing information about male-female relationships, Ernestine Walker enjoys, art, theatre, travelling and music.
She lives in New York City with Willie, her husband of eleven years.
Introduction
Its only natural to want another person with whom to share a satisfying relationship. Yet for many African-Americans this simple basic need is extremely difficult and in some instances impossible to fulfill.
Take yourself for example you’re an individual with unique qualities and characteristics that almost anyone would treasure. Yet you are having serious problems finding and having positive relationships with members of the opposite sex. And you are not alone. Did you ever ask yourself why is this all happening? And Why now?
After more than twenty years
