DEDICATION
Pillow Talk is dedicated to my loving wife Sita, whom God brought into my life, thus allowing us to have a marriage that enhances His Kingdom. Also, to my ‘brother from a different mother,’ Brian Peters. A true friend, an inspiration in my walk with God, and a man who has literally turned his pillow on his bed of affliction, into the place where he can use his God given talents in a pillar of strength role, for the many he has counselled, prayed for, blessed and encouraged, from what is definitely, a very hard place.
Heartfelt thanks to both individuals for being part of my proof reading and editing team.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
It’s a pleasure to acknowledge my former Pastor and Bible School Teacher, Dr. Andy Homer. He has been an inspiration in preparation of sermons, and always encouraged students to attempt first to prepare a message from one portion of Scripture. This instruction particularly, proved to be significant in the thought process involved in writing this book. As a well-respected teacher/lecturer on Marriage and Family Life, Dr. Homer inculcated in me a teaching on choosing a mate as a Christian, he says, one critical question you must ask yourself of your potential life partner is, how would your intended, coming into marriage with you, enhance God’s Kingdom?
PROLOGUE
In Genesis 28, Jacob is distressed, running for his life from his brother Esau, and ends up in what I would term as a ‘pillow talk’ with God. It was the genesis of a game changing, name changing and life changing experience for him
Pillow Talk is the intimate conversation that often occurs between couples before or just after the act of love making. It is the conversations between parties where the content is typically expressions of affection and appreciation but could often be used as a pathway to plot dreams, meaning it offers a convenient setting for a couple to discuss relevant information for life events, revealing expectations and new information to each other that help bring those dreams into reality.
Jacob’s experiences in Genesis Chapters 28 -35 can provide key learning for those of us who truly value love relationships. Pillow talk is a moment in a relationship that can provide the spark to initiate a new level of intimacy or even to rejuvenate one that is decaying or dead. It can bring a new dynamic to a relationship and provide the impetus for longevity, especially needed in this modern day, fast paced world, where divorce and short-lived marriages and relationships have become the norm. Pillow Talk is truly that intimate conversation in bed – in that certain place, in a special time of our life with that special someone – it has the potential to bring you and your significant other closer together, deepening your connection and commitment. It can be for you as it was for Jacob:
• An opportunity to learn of and understand more of each other
• Share dreams and plans
• Improve intimacy
• Foster trust and honesty
• Mark significant life changing
