    Foreword

Traditionally we were all taught that hope or hoping is placing ourselves in the future and therefore not manifesting what is needed in the present moment, the Now Point. Hope really means to expand within to encompass and allow all potentials of Source within self.

When we sing or tone from a consciousness space of Source, we start to expand within ourselves to allow all potentials of Source to ascend within and as the self. Thus the songs, the tones we sing, are actually sacred song. This is the gift we are giving ourselves and, through us, the potential for all others to realize it.

    Introduction

If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.

    —Nikola Tesla

Do you ever really listen? Do you truly listen to the sounds of the earth around you? Or are the sounds of the earth masked by the sound of your thoughts and the endless noise of an intrusive, technologically driven daily routine?

We get up in the morning, and the first sound we hear is the alarm clock and then the drip-drip-drip of the coffee maker, the splash of the shower, and the morning news and weather on the television. Dashing out, we hear the slam of the door and then the roaring start of the car as we turn on the ignition. We hurriedly switch on the radio for traffic news and then join the endless stream of cars honking their horns and blaring music until we finally arrive at work.

There we hear the slap of soles against the floor and the whirr of small supply carts passing before we reach our offices and the phones ring, the computers boot up, and doors open and close as people arrive. Some come into work; others seek assistance. It’s an endless parade of people and an infinite drone of constant noise that we learn to block out on some levels. But the toll is taken, and we end the day exhausted.

When the people leave, we sigh and think, Oh, blessed silence.

But is it silent? The people may be gone, but the computers are still humming, the air-conditioning is whirring, and the refrigerator, printer, fax machine, and phone all emit some level of noise. We have just learned to block it out, to compartmentalize it. But it is there in the background, a steady curtain of noise blocking out the sound of the earth around us, obstructing our ability to truly listen to all levels of creation.

The first step in sound healing is to listen—to listen and to understand. Do you know what it means to hear the sound behind the sound? Listening is much more than just hearing notes or melodies with your ears. True listening is aligned with cognition, a sense/feel type of knowing. Sometimes this sense/feel knowing is an awareness of sound itself as waves and consciousness.
