Due to the out of the normal events while in the army is why I thought readers would enjoy my story, otherwise I would not have written it. As to credentials, I am a new, first-time writer who, in my former vocation, wrote instructions to assemble weldments and for other types of assemblies. I also wrote research papers about biblical facts that showed some religions have some facts incorrect from what they preach.

To my daughter Susanne for typing and editing my book, excellent job.

To my friend Joan at the YMCA where I met her, for encouraging me to write the book, I bet she will be surprised.

Also for my dear friend Kay who encouraged me and offered valuable suggestions while writing the book.

And finally, for all those I spoke to about the book who want a copy to read, my fans.

    Thank you all,

One has to wonder sometimes, why we do some things we wish later we could erase every bad memory.

After my wife Lois died in 2008, several months of mourning and seeing all the work not getting done, even the most basic, I finally kicked myself in the butt to get going and put things in order.

About a year later I decided to join the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA that my health insurance agent suggested. Preventative medicine. When I entered the Y one morning to sign up, I discovered a few friends I had not seen in close to thirty years were there. I also made some new friends including a woman I called Joanie (her name was Joan) who wrote articles for a local newspaper. I read some of her articles and may have mentioned that in high school an English teacher said I should write short stories and poems. I never did anything with that, I wasn’t interested then. She said I should write a book and my response was, What should I write about? Well, she said, If you don’t try you will never know if you can. After thinking about it I concluded I could only write about my experiences and settled on the two years I was in the Army. Many strange things occurred that may be of interest as well as a few laughs. I was able to remember a lot more than I thought so I hope you enjoy it.
