    SYNOPSIS OF THE MAN WHO CRIES OUT FROM WITHIN BY: NOBLE ZENK

    Ch. 1 The Young Noble Zenk

    I introduce myself, Noble Zenk. I speak about my love for reading at an early age. You also meet my siblings: WESLEY, MARIE, LIL, CLARICE & CHAZ.

    Ch. 2 Day’s At St. Bridget’s

    I lend a glimpse at my mother, CLARICE, and a full depth scope of my days at St. Bridget’s, the school I attend and love. The hatred, bigotry that lurked in those halls is unveiled too.

    Ch. 3 Pops?

    I reveal the times when my father was distant and absent in my life. It hurts because he is my hero. He comes back and treats me to a field day.

    Ch. 4 Ganny’s Intervention

    You meet GANNY, my surrogate grandmother and leading matriarch of my family. She sets my mother straight on her boyfriend, MANUEL.

    Ch. 5 The Attack

    At seven, I experience my first encounter with molestation. It is the first of many incidents that rob me of my identity.

    Ch. 6 Starting To Be Different

    I don’t know what’s going on and I question my identity.

    Ch. 7 Vacancy

    I go to visit my Father and discover he’s gone. I find out he killed Mr. Earl, his roommate, and later turns himself into the police. I’m devastated.

    Ch. 8 The Attack Continues

    I am molested again by the same guy in my building. I feel like I’m a magnet attracting molesters from all over.

    Ch. 9 Troubles at 2231 Dickson St.

    Occasionally, my siblings and I pull pranks and jokes on one another. Joking was the pretense we do things under though something’s aren’t that funny.

    Ch. 10 Clarice’s Impediment

    The nuns (teachers) sent for me to read for Lil’ Clarice. Unknowingly, they make me do it to intimidate her into reading better, but it only causes discord between us. Dad becomes disappointed with her.

    Ch. 11 Summer of ‘67

    Things are beginning to have an upward beat in my life. It is summer of 1967 around the 4th of July, and my father is soon to be released from jail and that gives me something to look forward to.

    Ch. 12 Blame It On The Alcohol

    Mama gives Chaz and me permission to go to a birthday party in our building. Manuel stripped us and whipped us until Lil Clarice came in with a butcher knife, threatening him. He acts remorseful when Mom returns.

    Ch. 13 Misplaced

    Mama had her own agenda and she sent us to live with different families. Finally, Dad is released and we move in with him.

    Ch. 14 Unbearable

    Mom visits us at Dads and doesn’t like the condition we’re in. I am truant and Marie’s pregnant. She took us back, but Manuel he doesn’t approve. Ganny steps in once more.

    Ch. 15 A New Start

    We move into the apartment Ganny had for us and I re-matriculate back into Catholic school. Unfortunately, Mama continues to blame me for the situation we are in.

    Ch. 16 Genealogy

    I give the background and history of my parents.

    Ch. 17 A Feud And A Loss

    I am molested yet again and realize that I like it and it has become too difficult to suppress.

    Ch. 18 A Friendly Encounter

    We all get to meet Lil’ Clarice’s boyfriend and we all like him, including Ganny. While supporting my pregnant sister’s Mama falls behind with bills and I go to Dad for help.

    Ch. 19 Trying To Make It

    I want to keep up with the trends and want to purchase new clothes, but Mama has no money and the teachers are on strike. Marie finds her man and Mama plays the favoritism card with us.

    Ch. 20 One Sip Is All It Takes

    Ganny’s husband dies and she starts drinking heavily. I lose my virginity, continue truancy and start doing drugs.

    Ch. 21 Coming Clean

    I start working and getting my own money to support Dad and myself. He is a real burden, but I don’t realize it.

    Ch. 22 Bye St. Louis

    I feel it’s time to leave St. Louis because there is nothing here for me.

    Ch. 23 Strange Things In A Different Land

    I learn some things about being a homosexual and don’t really like this new lifestyle here in Clearfield, UT.

    Ch. 24 Forlorn Noble Zenk

    My father dies and I can’t believe it. In my eyes, he is definitely still my rock and hero.

    Ch. 25 The Beginning And The End

    I really leave St. Louis and this time for New Orleans. After Dad’s funeral, it is the only thing I look forward to.

    Ch. 26 New Orleans

    I experience a totally different atmosphere as a result of my new lifestyle. I am ready to take a bite out of life, but life takes a bite out of me.

    Ch. 27 Trying To Change

    New Orleans wasn’t working, so I came home to get it together mentally and spiritually. I begin to realize the plans God have for me.

    Ch. 28 Mama’s Struggle

    Mom has a stroke and we are all clueless on what to do for her. Suddenly, my brother and I must make it for ourselves with no assistance from her.

    Ch. 29 Another Piece To The Puzzle

    I meet and marry the woman God wants me to be with and we move in with each other. Ganny passes and leaves another void in my life. With Phyllis and my new stepson, I look to see what my new life will bring me.
