Kristi was born and raised in Dexter, NM and developed a love of horses on her family’s cattle ranch growing up. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Industry and Business from West Texas A&M University in Canyon TX, and also studied for her Master’s in English Literature there as well. During the week she works as a large animal veterinary technician, but always tries to find time to write around her job. Currently she lives in New Mexico with her husband JT, a small herd of cows, a horse, a German shepherd, and a fluffy Siamese cat whom all provide wonderful inspiration for stories and poetry.

    There is not much I enjoy more than taking a good nap on a beautiful sunny day, and what’s even better is that I get to do it in my favorite place, Dove Creek Ranch and Equine Rescue. Oh, and by the way, my name is Tico and I’m a simple ‘ol goat.

    As far as goats go, I would say I’m a pretty lucky one. See, I get to live out here on this beautiful ranch with a big herd of horses, which I have come to hold as dear friends. There are also some miniature donkeys and horses, a pygmy goat, and a sheep named Clyde and we are all looked after by the owner of the place, Miss Lil and the ranch foreman, Mr. Frank, who is also a cowboy.

    Now, Miss Lil is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. She never misses an opportunity to scratch that perfect spot behind my ears, and amazingly she does not mind me going anywhere I want to on the ranch, because as a goat I have certain privileges.

    It is quite wonderful getting to live in this place, and I know how fortunate I am. Before I came here I was just alone, with no companions around, no one to keep me company. Those were sad and lonely days for sure.

    In fact, I don’t even remember much of anything about my previous owner, except they did not come out to see me much. It was quite a boring life, just walking around my
