    THOSE WERE THE DAYS…

    My fourteen and thirteen year old daughters are very fond of hearing their early childhood stories. They are amused to hear how the elder one used to explain painstakingly to the younger one that she (elder one) was born from her father and younger from her mother, how my younger daughter used to believe that they used to be carried to beach in both of my trouser pockets and unloaded there, that she used to search herself in darkness and so on. To listen to what they did on their first day in school is one of their favourite pastimes. Elder daughter would pity herself when told how she complained why no teacher took her to arms like parents did at home, how all her enthusiasm to go to school drained off once she reached school although prior to that for days together she would have prepared herself for this great occasion with a tiny school bag, a little set of school dress and a new pair of jet black shoes. My younger daughter can still recall how
