Foreword
Our first book was all about numbers, the second about people and the third about music. Our fourth book contains information about language which is predominantly concerned with the current ‘lingua franca’ of the world - English. It should be useful to those of a quizzical nature but should be of general interest to all, especially teachers and students of English.
Readers should be aware that lists like these are never complete and it’s possible that more than the odd error may have crept in so if you propose to use any of the information contained herein, please remember that it is your own responsibility to verify it before such use.
We have generally stuck with the simplified English alphabet and apologise to those who like their accents, graves and cedillas. Remember – this is not Wikipedia!
The Authors gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Angel Liszt in the production of this book.
Some spelling errors are inevitable in a first edition - if you notice any or omissions we would be most grateful if you would notify them to us at our website which can be found at: https://felixschrodinger.wordpress.com/2015/02/04/using-these-pages/
