    Justin’s Journey

The year is 2012, it’s Sunday morning, and it’s a full house in the Church of the Burning Cross located in Tupelo, Mississippi. The mood is calm, everyone is all dressed up, smiles greet the congregation as they enter the service area, ushers pass out booklets with the order of today’s service, but there is one thing peculiar about this church, the entire congregation consist of only Caucasians. No African Americans, no Asians, no Hispanics, no Jews, not even Catholics for that matter. This is a New Testament, so called Bible believing church. The church is painted all white and beautiful stain glass windows of the guy we all call Jesus Christ. The pictures, of the Christ, are European traditional in context, you know the Michelangelo depiction, the blue-eyed, blonde hair, Caucasian guy who apparently was born that way from the Middle East. This, of course, is an in-accurate description according to scientist and even the Bible itself. But, nevertheless, let’s move on.

The choir begins to sing, loud, choreographed sounds, with lovely voices fill the air, the harmony is unquestionably in sync, the praises of the Lord should be heard thru all of this, but there is just one major issue here. We’ll re-visit that, or maybe you will figure it out before I’m done with this intro.

Now that we have the praise section out of the way, ushers pass out collection plates for the congregation to contribute their tithes and offerings. Two interracial couples who appear to be friends, enter the area in the back taking their seats, just missing the praise part of the service. A black man and white women, and an Asian man and Arabian women. The ushers do not embrace them, as it seems to raise red flags that they are even there, and most of the congregation seem to stare in dis-belief as it is apparent that they have never been to this church before.

The congregation has another visitor today, whom we will call, Mr. Justin Believe (Just Believe). Mr. Believe is an airline pilot who travels all over the United States and yet he is only 25 years old. He is a single white male from Akron Ohio and has never been to church. He got his pilot’s license, went thru all of his training and finally finished a few months ago. His mother, Jamie Believe, a longtime church goer at Faith Ministries in Akron, Ohio, presented him with a new King James Version Bible for him to read on his journey. Justin has been reading the Bible lately, in his spare time, while waiting for flights to take off from different airports across the country.

You see, Justin never went to church as a child but his moms love kept him grounded with Bible principles. Justin’s mom had him at a young age, and he never knew his dad, he always admired her compassion and love for all fellow men and women she came across. Justin’s mother never made him go to church as a child because she wanted her son to find his own way to connect with the source.

Justin, being an adult at this point in his life, finishing his schooling and training, is now beginning his new career. He has no kids, no wife or ties anywhere. He is healthy, making great money, and is looking to relocate. He has lived in Akron his entire life and wants to start his own life and family elsewhere. Justin is new to the Bible and church scene, and wants to see what made his mom such a great person all these years. Deep down he wants the same thing for himself, so a good church home is going to be priority number one in his mind. He really feels the rest will follow if he can just find the right church home first.

Justin had gotten to the service on time, and
