CHAPTER 1
Surprises
W here is my toothbrush?! I mumble to myself. I’m about to leave from New York to Hawaii, I’m going to see the stunning Lady Gaga at her concert on September 13 – just six days away. My cousin Stephanie lives in Hawaii; she’s filthy rich and lives in a mansion so I’m excited. I would have invited her to the concert too, but she says Lady Gaga is too bizarre
Honestly, I find she judges a book by its cover. I carefully walk to the washroom being aware of my surroundings and making sure I get every inch of the house. No luck. I look on the counter and through the drawers but still nothing.
The Bathtub? I think with low expectations. It’s the only place I didn’t look.
I look in the bathtub tub, extremely surprised. It’s there and it is filled with cat hair. Lizzie! She must have ruined it! Whatever. I’ll get a different one at the gift shop in Newark. I think to myself angrily. Sometimes my cat really gets on my nerves. I wish my cousin never bought her for me.
Suddenly I hear a sound. Oh, it’s just my phone, I think. I turn my phone over to see who it was calling, Tasha. I pick up. Jessie! Guess what?!
my friend asks excitedly. Seriously, you’re not even going to say hi? Or ask me how I’m doing?
I say, annoyed. Jeez, someone’s having a bad day,
Tasha says. There is a moment of pause.
Hi, how are you Jessie?
she asks with no emotion. Hi Tasha, I’m not doing so well,
I tell her. Why?
Tasha asks in concern. It doesn’t matter,
I say with a sigh. Well this will cheer you up!!!
screams Tasha. I doubt she would make me feel any better. I mean, I have-to leave for Hawaii in two hours, I forgot to pack the night before and I had freaking cat hair on my toothbrush!
Doubt it,
I say to Tasha.
You know how you asked me to go to that Lady Gaga concert with you in Hawaii and I said no?
she asks. That reminder really put a cherry on top of a fantastic morning Tasha,
I say with sarcasm. Well, I had a change of plans. I’m coming!!!
she squeals.
I stop in shock letting everything process. I jump in excitement! This took a huge turn. Suddenly, I feel a soft scratch on the back of my leg as if you took a fork and scratched it against you. I turn around and saw Lizzie staring at me, questioning my sanity.
Oh, it’s you,
I say to the cat with no emotion.
How did you do that?! I thought you had a wedding to go to today?
I ask Tasha.
It was postponed!
she replies. When Tasha told me this, I fill with delight. If I wouldn’t have been going to Hawaii; I would be going to his stupid wedding.
Wow Tash! You finally learned something,
I say to her as if I am her mother. "Well I need to go and pack. I have so much to pack. It’s going to take a long time to do by
