Darren Carter

Born near Manchester UK I attended Upholland boarding school. From there I went into further education at Liverpool John Moores University studying fine art and art history. The journey for poetry didn’t end there. Having studied the Bible profusely for many years joining a monastery seemed inevitable and the right choice in life. It was studying & singing the Psalms that gave birth to a passion of writing poetry. I have now been writing ever since, each day and every day.

    Nailed to the Tree

    The Man of Sorrows

The river of tears will never run dry.

    He cries within himself

    Silent waters run deep

    The women of Jerusalem weep.

The silence of the wilderness in his heart

His voice of his mouth is the light.

He suffers man’s torture and pain

    He hungers for His rest

    So He can rise again.

    The love of the few

    They knew

He was the Lamb to the Slaughter

No one gave Him any water.

No place to lay His head

    No place to pray.

    The Last Supper

    The breaking of bread

    Shared with remembrance

    With those of little faith.

    King of Wisdom

On the mountain of his God

    Solomon asked for Wisdom.

    God granted

    And gave him a Kingdom.

    A Queen from another land

She was the Queen of Sheba.

A Queen sent by a desert Pharaoh

    To be his deceiver.

    Solomon saw her great beauty.

She saw the wonder of his Wisdom

    Within his kingly duty.

To cut a baby in two.

    To bring forth the truth.

From the death of an innocent.

    The voice of love

    Proved her innocence.

The child born from their sin

    On God’s holy mountain.

    She made a holy bargain

To leave the Land of Israel

    And change to His way

    As Solomon’s God

    Was the God, Yahweh.

God returned his kingdom to Solomon.
