About this ebook

The Muslim shrines of Sufi saints in Pakistan play an important role in the lives of believers, and this inclination toward their faith has increased over the past years. These Sufi saints have been a cause of great success in spreading Islam in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. These Sufi saintsthrough their devotion, humility, understanding of the teachings of Islam, and conducthave conquered the hearts of their devotees. These Sufi saints, through their meditation and living a simple life despite available charms of this worldly life, provided an example of purity, spirituality, submission to the Creator, and truthfulness in words and deeds.

Daira Din Panah is a city in Kot Addu, Punjab, Pakistan, where there is a shrine of a Sufi saint who spent all his life spreading the teachings of Islam and connecting people to the Creator. We (including the author) are direct descendants of this Sufi saint, Din Panah Sahib. However, my grandfather, Dr. Pir Buksh Sahib, after reading books and learning the truthfulness of the imam of this age, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (peace and blessings), accepted Ahmadiyyat the true Islam. With the exception of some shrines of these saints in Pakistan, most have become a source of politics, rivalry, and money collection through donations and even have deviated from the true teachings of Islam. The very Sufi saints to whom the devotees refer never advocated such practices and led a simple life. These Sufi saints, however, brought an era of Sufism, and some even wrote poetry and left valuable literature full of spiritual enlightenment for the readers and generations to come.

Author

Waqar Pirzada

Waqar Pirzada was born in 1959 in the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. I migrated to the USA and am now permanently residing in the United States. I, the author, am a doctor of medicine, have an MBA and a PhD, and belong to a family of doctors; and my father and grandfather are both doctors from the same prestigious medical institution. The search for truth has led me to explore different horizons and quest for what true love is about. I found, there is a loving and living deity above us who listens to and responds, just like we communicate among ourselves, in our daily lives, through existing technology. A sinful man as I have been, I now know that Allah is most forgiving and oft returning. Practicing medicine has taught me about how there is only a thin line between life and death. I have the honor of being the grandson of my maternal and paternal grandfathers, who personally met and accepted the Promised Messiah—the messiah of the time as prophesized, who people are still waiting for. The author of this book has also published the books The Land of Wakapuku—Land of the True and Chasing Love Up against the Sun.

    Bibliography

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Dedicated to my mother Zia who despite being a working woman spent time with her family and Inspired her children to be honest, truthful, loyal to the faith and religion, and brave to face difficult times in life and to do good work that would benefit other people.

Thy Lord has commanded, "Worship none but Him, and show kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with thee, never say unto them any word expressive of disgust nor reproach them, but address them with excellent speech.

And lower to them the wing of humility out of tenderness. And say, ‘My Lord, have mercy on them even as they nourished me in my childhood.’

    (Chapter 17, verse 24-25)

    BORN TO DIE

At the birth of a child, we rejoice and celebrate with rituals as dictated by our religion. Hindus, Christians, Buddhists’, Jews, and Muslims all have different rituals to perform at the birth of a child. Hindus consider the birth of a child as a religious activity, and relatives and friends visit the parents and bring gifts. The festivities don’t end here, and the child’s name, date of birth, and time of birth are given to the Hindu priest so that they can give a name to the baby and forecast a horoscope. During the ceremonies, different hymns and mantras are spoken into the child’s ear in remembrance of the different gods and goddesses of the Hindu faith.

The Christian Catholics perform the baptism of the child by immersing the child in clean water or sprinkling water by saying In the name of the father… the son… and the spirit with the concept that water cleanses the sins and that the child will follow the Christian faith and be blessed with eternal salvation. The ceremony is performed by a member of the clergy or a priest in the presence of parents,
