54 learners from Gqeberha primary school baptised at beach event

In a heartwarming event at Schoenmakerskop beach, 54 Grade 7 learners from Gqeberha’s Elufefeni Primary School recently took a plunge into faith. Initiated by retiring school principal Amanda Ntsumpa and Pastor Mac Hayward, who has devoted over 40 years to mission work, the ceremony marked the culmination of eight years of dedicated discipleship. Amanda, committed to introducing Christian values to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, expressed her desire for ongoing spiritual mentorship for future Grade 7s. Mac, soon retiring as a church leader but not from mission work, guided the learners through a comprehensive course from creation to salvation. With the support of the Bible Society, each Grade 7 received a Bible, fostering a connection to their faith. The picturesque event witnessed eager learners being bussed to the seaside, where some even swam to the baptism site. This joyous celebration emphasised the power of unity, faith, and community support, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of these young believers.
