Vinay Pasar
The author Vinay Pasar was born and raised at Kalaburagi, Karnataka India, he has completed M.Sc. in Zoology from Gulbarga University & M.Sc. Environmental Science from Mysore University. He has also worked as a coordinator in collaboration with Karnataka Biodiversity board, Social Forestry Division, Kalaburagi. He worked as a lecturer in Doddappa Appa P.U. Science college from 2013 - 2016, currently he is working as an Executive Wildlife Officer at Bangalore International Airport, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. He has published various research papers in national and international journals. Today, his purpose & passion lies in saving animals & making the community, students aware about the importance of nature and all life forms present on earth.

General Introduction to Snakes
Reptiles, a category in animal kingdom includes lizards, snakes, turtles, alligators, and crocodiles. They are carnivorous species beneficial to the ecosystem and help in controlling the pest populations of insects and rodents primarily. Increased anthropogenic activities and urbanization are the main cause for their sudden disappearance from the ecosystem.
Snakes are species which have been related to lizards, crocodiles and turtles. There are more than 2700 different species of snakes in the world, of which approximately 300 species have been a reasonable guess of Herpetologists and Zoologists for the account of total Indian Snake fauna. The scientific study of snakes is called ‘Ophiology’, and the people who are involved in the studies and research oriented to amphibians and reptiles (Snakes) are called as herpetologists.
Snakes are a beautiful creatures, mesmerizing in their own uniqueness, creeping and crawling with fascinating morphological features. They dwell in various habitats including forests, trenches, urban and agricultural fields, crevices, mountains, rivers and oceans across the planet in varied groups and genera.
Snakes are ectothermic which exhibit the tendency of obtaining body heat from their environment, by basking or hibernating. They have scaly skin but the
