The Sigil Precept - Amy Sampsell
The Sigil
37740.pngThe Concept of the Sigil
The repeating cycle seems to be inherent everywhere we look. It is that ever present continuous flow that assists, and sometimes impedes, our growth and that which we strive to make sense of and, ultimately, master.
But how can we grasp it in order to expand and grow? And why is it that we feel such a need to understand this ever present flow and place it into a category that makes sense to us? Why is it that we cannot just accept what it is for exactly what it is?
Maybe because it is within our nature to try to understand what there was before we were -- our actual beginnings -- in order to understand where we are and where we are going.
Life, in all its complexity, is all about learning, expanding and growing and, with that in mind, we need to take the time to fully understand, accept and nurture ourselves, so that all the complexities of life can be made sense of and we can grow and connect to the lessons that the universe has to offer.
There is a large belief out in the world’s population that when we are born into this world, we come into it with a prior knowledge of what type of life lessons we learned prior and that these lessons are is still ingrained into our unconsciousness mind and our actions within this lifetime will reflect our past. What we did in our past life is not always fully known, but given time, the past always has a way to re-surface. This belief is about reincarnation, about the soul’s journey through time, gathering lessons, acting out scenarios that allow us to learn those lessons. Sometimes we do learn them, other times, not so much, and then we must repeat these un-learned lessons in another life. But, through all of this, the continuity of life still is ever present. We are born, we grow, and we die and are re-born. Whether you follow a belief of reincarnation or not, you have to admit that what we are here to do is, at many times, beyond our understanding, and curiosity lies just below the surface of non-belief.
And all life, whether animate or not, follows the same guiding principles as birth is about coming into a new reality, life is a spiritual state regarded as a transcending of corporeal death, where as we are continuously conforming to reality, death is literally the act of dying; of the compete termination of aforementioned life; and rebirth can be looked upon as a renaissance; a revival: for rebirth happens after death, where the soul begins a new cycle of existence in another human body and is a metempsychosis phenomenon, which is any state or process known through the senses rather than by intuition or reasoning.
Mind numbing at times, isn’t it? As it always seems to go back to understanding the unknown. That concept of grasping a complete understanding of what it is to be a human being connected to the energies around us. There is always a beginning, middle and an end; and each of us has our own story to understand so that we can come back, through that continuous flow to have the ability to grow closer to the collective consciousness that is life.
This book and these exercises that not only I have developed, but also put into personal practice, will hopefully do just that - assist you in connecting to a higher level of consciousness so that you may grasp, understand, accept and nurture all aspects of your inner self. Each level of the sigil can be worked on by itself, or combined. The choice will ultimately be your own. And I do suggest that, at any time difficulty arises, that you get proper counsel and medical attention as needed. And by all means, do not do any of these exercises without first wishing to have an actual change in your life.
The 4 Cycles of Life
Birth - Life - Death - Rebirth
The Continuous Flow
37762.pngLet’s take a look at the first layer of this sigil which is the four cycles of life that we all know as Birth, Life, Death and Rebirth. Each of these section breaks down to three months long, so when working with them, keep in mind that in order to finish, you will need to work at it for a minimum of one year and again, keep in mind that this section is in relation to the belief of reincarnation as well.
Let us begin at Birth, that wondrous time that a new life has sprung forth, awaiting to learn, grow, enrich and expand. I truly believe that none of us really knows exactly what type of reaction that the birthing process has on an infant, what is going through that tiny mind, or the emotions that are being felt at that particular moment in that young life.
Now I know many of you may be saying - wait, science has looked at this and these are the findings…yadda yadda yadda…ok, that’s all fine and good, but I am speaking metaphysically as well as physically here.
Here’s something to chew on for a moment. Does anyone, really, truly, without
