    Pleasure Man - Corey Johnson

    CHAPTER 1

T he day was damp with a chill in the air. Miranda Bowen limped to the kitchen, dragging her foot behind her as she struggled to reach the kitchen. Usually she relied on her cane, but she would be damned if she developed a habit of depending on it. She always survived on her strength and willpower. She didn’t see any reason for it to abandon her now.

She raised three children alone, after her husband died of a heart attack fifteen years ago. She had two girls and one boy. Rachel was the oldest, then Kenny, and Sharon came three years after.

She was seventeen when she met Kenneth Bowen, Sr., with his curly black hair, even blacker eyes, and sensual full lips. He was the color of a Hershey’s bar, rich and brown and a lithe, long athletic body. When he came up to her at a girl friend’s party and asked her to dance, the attraction was so electric that she became wet between her legs.

She was not so bad herself, with her long thick black hair, butterscotch complexion, huge almond eyes that sparkled when she smiled, and long shapely legs that would make Tina Turner blush.

They both fell hard and fast for one another. It was not long before they were married in a small ceremony given by her reluctant parents. Also, being three months pregnant with Rachel speeded things along quicker.

Miranda was pregnant with Kenny Jr. when Rachel was two and, three years later, Sharon.

Kenny Sr. enjoyed being a husband and father. He doted on his family with flowers and affordable jewelry for his wife and various toys for his children. They never wanted for anything.

Kenny Sr. had a massive heart attack while he and Miranda were making love. She thought he was coming, easing into the thrusting sensation of his big cock, fulfilling her desire. When all of a sudden his cock became harder, she was moaning and urging him on. Oh, baby, that’s it. That’s the spot.

His breath caught and his eyes bulged as he fell on top of her still securely inside her. She called his name, and then silence until her piercing screams disrupted the stillness.

Miranda became mother and father to her children and refused to leave them alone with anyone to go out on dates. When they were older, she accepted an invitation to attend a wedding of a friend of hers from work. Before she left, she gave the babysitter different numbers to contact her like their family doctor’s number, instructions on all the kids’ habits, and the foods they liked and disliked. As a nurse, she was meticulous and organized.

At the wedding, Miranda had a good time. Celia, Miranda’s friend from the hospital where she worked as a nurse, married her college sweetheart at her three-bedroom home. Miranda was reluctant to go, considering she had to find a babysitter for her three kids. She quickly remembered Robin whom she used before when they called her in to do an overnight because someone called in sick.

Christmas icicles were added to give the house flair, and a discotheque atmosphere with loud thumping disco music greeted the guests as they entered a long foyer with a red strip on the floor that extended to a makeshift artificial chapel. As the guests entered, the small living room with white-painted chairs individually separated in rows of three.

The bride wore an vintage wedding dress with cowboy boots and her black hair in an upsweep with white roses placed around her head, giving her a seventies hippy effect.

After the preacher blessed them into death do them part, they were husband and wife. There were smiles, rice throwing, pats on the back, hugs, then the big reception of dancing, food, cake, and presents to open. As Miranda sat down to eat her food, a friend of the bride asked Miranda to dance. She placed her plate of food on the table, placing a napkin over it for later attention.

She took the hand of Thomas Bradley, a tall fair-complexioned hunk with black curly hair, a muscular physique, and the brownest bedroom eyes Miranda had ever seen. She was mesmerized by his take-charge aggression and the way he held her tight, giving her a hint of the hard masculinity between his legs.

    CHAPTER 2

M iranda thought she would never be attracted to another man after Kenny Sr. died. When she met Thomas at Celia’s wedding, it was lust at first site. Miranda had never met a man that turned her on so quickly after her husband died. She did not plan to sleep with Thomas the first night she met him, but the music, the food, the liquor, the pure animal magnetism of the man knocked down all her inhibitions. She found herself at his one-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of town having wild fulfilling sex with a stranger she just met.

The attraction to this man was so spontaneous that before they were able to recognize and analyze one another’s shortcomings, he had moved in with Miranda and her children. The change in his behavior was gradual and frightening to watch after a couple of months together. When Thomas drank liquor and smoked drugs, which was often, he would become sullen and angry. Miranda thought she could handle it until he started going after the children. The first time he hit her in a drunken argument, she threatened to leave him. He apologized and got down on his knees and begged her not to leave him.

When he started targeting the children, Miranda told him to get out. She came home one evening, and he was hitting Kenny Jr. with the buckle of his razor strap. He was so drunk that he was not aware she was back. When Miranda witnessed the blood coming from her son’s mouth, seeping down on her rustic carpet, she became a wild tigress protecting her cubs.

She threw herself at Thomas, grabbing him away from Kenny Jr. with superhuman strength she was surprised she possessed. Get the fuck off my son, you drunk mothafucker! She slapped him hard across the face as she leaned down and grabbed Kenny in her arms.

He staggered away from them muttering, I’m sorry, baby. I was just trying to teach him to respect me when I tell him to do something. That little mothafucker told me that I wasn’t his father, and he didn’t have to listen to what I said. He looked at Miranda with drunken insolence as he slurred his words and staggered toward the couch to sit down.

You’re not his father, you stupid bastard. You have no right to hit my children—I’m the only one have the right to discipline my children, she said. Her attention turned to Kenny as he continued to cry and blood poured from his nose, getting all over Miranda’s white nurse’s uniform.

She screamed for Rachel or Sharon to get her a wet towel so she could stop the bleeding. They were hiding in the pantry in the kitchen. Rachel came into the living room running with a wet blue towel she quickly handed to her mother as she backed out of the room slowly, watching Thomas’s face.

Miranda slowly wiped Kenny’s bloody nose clean and had him lay his head back against the couch while holding the towel snugly against it to stop the bleeding. She was busy focusing her attention on her son and did not notice when Thomas got up from the couch. He came over to where Kenny and she was and slapped Miranda hard across the face.

She was stunned and stood up quickly to get him away from Kenny, who was still seated on the coach holding the towel against his nose.

I want you out of my house, Thomas. You’re not going to stay here and abuse my children and me, she said with all the anger she could muster.

You shut the fuck up, you stupid bitch. If I want to beat these fucking kids’ ass and your ass, I will and there is nothing you can do about it, he said as he swayed a little to keep his balance.

Miranda backed up, looking at him with utter hate and disappointment. You lying fucker, you said that you would stop drinking and smoking marijuana in front of my children. You’re nothing but a mean drunken bum, threatening a defenseless woman and her children so you can feel like a real man.

He came up to Miranda and grabbed her by the throat as the children started crying and screaming for him to let their mother go. Miranda managed to break away from his grip, opened the door to get out of the apartment, and she ran in the hall. Thomas followed her, cussing at her and threatening to kill her and the children.

I’ll kill your little bastards if you don’t get back here and fix us something to eat and fuck me like you supposed to, he said in a threatening voice.

Miranda backed away from him to keep his focus off the kids.

    CHAPTER 3

T his seemed to fuel Thomas’s anger toward her. As he punched her in the face, his fist connected with her jaw, and she felt her teeth loosen and fall in a bloody heap down at her feet.

She could hear her children and the neighbors screaming for him to leave her alone or they were calling the police.

Thomas, in his drunken state and escalating anger, continued to punch her, swearing loudly at her as he beat her bloody. Look what you did, you fucking bitch, he said as he balled up his fist. Now you have everyone in the building out here watching us fight because you protected that little bastard from getting the ass whipping he deserved.

When Thomas landed his last punch on Miranda’s already-battered face, she lost her balance on the stairs and she fell down five flights of stairs. She landed unconscious in a bloody heap at the bottom of the stairs. When Thomas heard the police sirens in the background, he bolted toward the back entrance of the apartment building.

When Miranda woke up in the hospital the next day, she was more concerned about her children’s welfare than what had happened to her. After she was informed that the children were safe with her sister, she was able to relax. She was told that the police had arrested Thomas, and he was in their custody, charged with assault and battery after witnesses identified him. He also was still on probation and probably would be serving a lot of time because of the incident.

Miranda stayed in the hospital for sixteen weeks. She had two broken ribs, a concussion, a cracked hip, broken jaw, and various lacerations on her face. She had to attend physical therapy twice a week, and she had to apply for disability because of her hip that required a few minor surgeries s; she was unable to continue
