Understanding the Power of the Sub-Conscious Mind Hypnosis and Other “Effective” Healing Options - Franchot Peter Moore Sr.

    HYPNOTHERAPY ITS RELATIONSHIP TO

    THE BIBLE AND OTHER PARALLELS

Throughout the Holy Bible it constantly alludes to the fact that the "Ministry of Christ" was primarily based upon healing and transformation and in several statements attributed to Christ he says according to our faith it will be done to us. As a youth growing up in Trinidad attending Catholic Church, I took that to mean that whatever we focus upon exclusively and believe in its outcome firmly, it will happen. Later on I was to learn that the discipline of Science believed that any idea held firmly in the conscious mind rules the life of the individual. In that same vein in Church, I was being taught that as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. The repeated concept throughout this book that an individual’s; thoughts, beliefs, practices and expectations regarding any area of their life will create a corresponding experience, is mutually echoed by what is considered the Christ Mind.

In referring to the existence of the sub-conscious mind in the holy document it states the kingdom of God is within, and goes on to add seek e first the kingdom of god and all things shall be revealed. The sub-conscious mind fits this description clearly, it is this ‘Kingdom within" which we empower or activate to bring about positive change to all areas of our health and personal experience. The sub-conscious mind will always prove us correct and will materialize any experience held to be true or is expected by the conscious mind. Most people are trained to offer up prayer and request for personal needs to a force or a God or supernatural identity existing outside of their own being. In many cases; rituals, sacrifices, atonements and other forms of offerings has to be made before that external god will see fit to grant the individual their request or fulfill their requisitions.

Following this thought process, anytime the individual accomplishes anything of value or substance it is never acknowledged as being associated with the skills or abilities of the individual, instead the individual could be heard saying I had nothing to do with this, I give god all the glory. Acknowledging a source or power greater than all there is, I believe, should be practically academic and all praises should be due on a consistent basis in the mind of mankind. When praise is offered to a source outside of the self without acknowledging the existence of the individual’s contribution in creating his own circumstance, it takes away the individual’s capacity to be responsible for his or her own actions. In this thought process when a negative experience is encountered by the individual, looking outside of the self the blame is mostly attributed to the work of the devil.

In my capacity of a boxing referee, I have often supervised bouts where one boxer was knocked unconscious. The standing boxer will drop to his knees and thank the lord for being on my side tonight. During those periods, I often wondered about the character of a god who would take the side of one individual while sometimes the other is rendered unresponsive for an extended period, wheeled away on a stretcher to the nearest hospital, suffer permanent injuries or subsequently died. The same applies to when priests bless bombs and services and rituals are held prior to going to battle for a God to favor one side over the other in killing people and doing extensive damage to Earth’s environment.

In the holy book in Mark 11:33 it states, for verily I say onto you that whomsoever that says to the mountain be thou removed and be cast into the ocean and if you believe, have faith and do not doubt you will get whatever you so desire. Reinterpreted, it could well be a template for the process of the transformation of a thought into matter or a human experience. The statement be thou removed could be attributed to putting the sub-conscious mind to work by instructing it to remove any and all impediments or obstacles to success which is part of the skill set and can do ability of the sub-conscious mind. Having defined your desire then invoking the power of Faith without questioning its source, where or where it is coming from or how soon it will come is a major prerequisite in transforming a though, belief or expectation into matter or a desired experience. I believe this is the interpretation of if you believe, have faith and do not doubt. In order for any though, idea, aspiration or desire to be materialized into form or the substance of an experience there must be a clearance of any mental and emotional impediments especially the existence of guilt.

Throughout all my books it highlights the relationship of the individual’s health to their thoughts. At times when I tried to introduce this thought process to some religiously based individuals, I have been rebuffed and the practice of Hypnotherapy criticized. As mentioned in an upcoming chapter, the entity identified as Christ, was one of the first recorded healers to link the association of mind to the body. When an individual, afflicted with palsy was bought to Jesus for healing he turned to his followers and told them that in order to heal the man, he first had to remove the man sins. Understanding that the committing of a sin will produce the existence of guilt and knowing self-punishment will follow; Jesus forgave the man for his sins and by extension removed the existing guilt in the mind of the sufferer clearing the pathway for the rejuvenation of the man’s health based upon his expectation. Jesus healing ministry was based upon the fact that he emphatically taught that the origins of every single outward physical action begins in the mind of the man.

In reasoning about the concept of life before life and life after life it is my belief that the statement which Christ" once made to an apostle I knew you before you were in the flesh is an indication that he is most definitely alluding to some form, degree of awareness or existence prior to the soul or spirit emerging into flesh. The same could be said regarding the concept of reincarnation or the existence of some form of conscious awareness after life or beyond the threshold we acknowledge as death. This was alluded to when Christ said I am going to a place to prepare for thee and if it wasn’t so I would have told you. If one is a strict believer in the words and of stories of Christ, then one should have no trouble in acknowledging the existence of such a place knowing that according to Christ there is such a place beyond the threshold of death, because he said if it was not so, I would have told you.

We often hear arguments regarding concepts relating to: time, space, dimensions, realities and vortexes’. These are normally referred to as adjacent or parallel realities to our own physical reality. Many people is of the belief that when we sleep, faint, rendered unconscious, enter deep states of meditation, deep trance states or die we enter one or more such states. The answer to the possibility of the existence of simultaneous realities which does not takes up space within our reality could be found in another statement of Christ when he says; For verily I say onto you, in the house of my father there are many mansions. In this statement could the house of my father, be equated to what we consider physical reality and many mansions a reference to parallel realities or other dimensions of existence. Therefore, could it be one of these mansions or dimensions which Christ is alluding to when he said that he was going to a place to prepare for thee. To this extent, I believe that it is one of these dimensions or mansions we find ourselves when we faint, rendered unconscious, meditate, dream and when we leave physical reality permanently.

None can know the Father save the son and none can know the son save the Father. I believe in this case the Father and son analogy refers to the most private area of our personal thoughts or sub-conscious mind which we share with absolutely no one. Each of us possess this private mental area irrespective of how close we are with our siblings or how close we are associated with any other person or even our God, that we share with no one. Most people would agree that we each have particular thoughts and for a variety of reasons choose not to share them with anyone. This is the most classified or top secret area of an individual’s mental domain. It is from this private most classified area where all our problems stem from.

In giving a sermon regarding the laws of demand and supply and its relationship to the sub-conscious mind it is recorded that Christ said to the masses what things soever ye desire, when we pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have then In this context this could be looked at as an effective way of praying such as when we set our desire in motion we do so with an expectation that it will be achieved.

These same teachings and metaphysically based information could be found in various trilogies, fables, teachings, recordings and metaphors in almost all of the holy books. The common denominator amongst the human species is that our thoughts, expectations and beliefs create our experiences and what is considered our future. The humble intentions of this Hypnotherapist, follows a long tradition of healing and spiritual transformation which transfixes on the mind/body/spiritual health relationship and follows many of the templates found in some of the known holy documents and the practice of the Christ Mind.

    LEVELS OF HUMAN AWARENESS

From my own perspective, the framework for identifying the functions of the various levels of awareness makes complete sense. Life itself begins prior to the emergence of the physical form and it is from this area we calculate all the dynamics relative to our new and impending physical experience. Having emerged into flesh the conscious mind is looked at as the outer emotional and mental framework from which we calculate experiences and makes decisions on a daily basis. The sub-conscious mind is seen as the master creator of all our experiences. It absorbs all the viewpoints, beliefs and expectations maintained by the conscious mind and translate them into a corresponding experience or physical object. It proves us correct in all aspects of our personal beliefs and assumptions about life. The sub-conscious mind is always alive, awake, alert, functioning and aware. Whether a boxer is rendered unconscious from a blow, someone faints or under the state of anesthesia, the sub-conscious mind though mandated to leave the physical body under those conditions is always awake and ever-present. All of our personality disorders, behavioral problems, split personalities and psychosomatic illnesses have its roots in the sub-conscious mind.

    PRE-BIRTH EXPERIENCES

(1). Re-identification of a new self is made after assessment of preceding lifetime.

(2). Choices are made regarding the materializing of the new self into physical form.

(3). Choices regarding gender, ethnicity, era, parents, geographical area, culture and reasons for new experience are identified and finalized.

(4). Alignment and merging with fetal structure within identified parent.

    (5). Birth.

    CHARACTERISTICS OF THE UNCONCIOUS MIND

(1). Responsible for the maintenance of the automatic functioning of the body’s organs, structure and integrity.

(2). Does not protect or defend the organism from any real or perceived threat

(3). Works in juxtaposition to and in harmony with the sub-conscious mind.

(4). Could be equated with the pillars which support a structure

    CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SUB-CONCIOUS MIND

(1). Base of long Term Memory (previous lives to present)

(2). Base or root of the imagination (that part of the self which actors strive to reach)

(3). Protective layer of the self (will protect the personality from any real or perceived threat)

(4). Base or root of the all emotions (where illnesses or conflict of the body originates)

    THE CRITICAL FACTOR

    (1) Looked at as the overzealous cognizant part of the sub-conscious mind which blocks any suggestion for positive change from infiltrating the sub-conscious mind, if that suggestion does not conform to the pre-established beliefs of the individual.

(2). Other related disciplines such as psychiatry and psychology refer to the critical factor as the EGO.

(3). Functions could be contrasted with that of the responsibilities of a security guard.

    CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CONCIOUS MIND

(1). The Analytical part of the mind (which ask questions such as how)

(2). The Rational part of the mind (which ask question such as why)

(3). Short-term memory (extending from birth to present)

(4). Will-Power (like adrenaline, represents only a short term allocation of energy)

As an analogy, the critical-factor could be equated with a security guard who is entrusted to allow only those items into a warehouse which is reflected on a manifest previously given to him by management. If the guard was told to expect a shipment of pens from the Atlantic Pen Company and it was scheduled to arrive at one a.m. and at one a.m. a truck from the Pacific Toilet Paper Company shows up with a delivery of ten crates of toilet paper which was not previously expected or recorded on the manifest, then that guard is empowered to use everything at his disposal to prevent any persons from entering the premises with the toilet paper shipment. If that guard falls asleep or for some reason removes himself or is distracted from his sentry post then is becomes easy for the persons with the toilet paper shipment to enter the premises and offload their cargo.

The critical factor works in exactly the same way as the security guard, any belief which was not previously recorded on the manifest of the sub-conscious mind will not be allowed to enter the premises of the sub-conscious mind and be accepted as a new suggestion for positive change. The critical factor as the security guard must be bypassed in order to insert any new beliefs or suggestions for positive change.

    KNOW THYSELF

In an ancient archeological site in Greece, there is a Temple named Delphos in which there is an inscription which reads: Know Thyself. Knowing who you are and the purpose for your existence is one of the main keys to good health, happiness, personal accomplishment and contentment. It is these qualities which combine to produce what we consider our quality of life.

Applying oneself to actually getting to know thyself by utilizing some of the principles suggested in this book would yield untold benefits. The end product of getting to know yourself will lead you to develop the ability to identify the causes of conditions and imbalances within yourself and empower you to remove these limitations and really live a meaningful life as opposed to merely existing. If at the conclusion of this book you choose to utilize self-hypnosis as a medium of choice to attempt to get to know thyself it should be considered that though utilizing self-hypnosis as a self-help therapeutic method, there may be some areas of personal concerns which may require other types of professional assistance and seeking out this assistance is highly recommended.

In our modern times, under the conditions presently imposed upon individuals to survive in the everyday conditions of societies around the world, it appears very challenging to live without some degree of stress or tension. In Trinidad and Tobago there is a common slang used as a response when one is asked how you doing or how you going or how you feeling the answer would typically be normal. I personally do not think that in our current world conditions that there is a normal person existing including myself. Almost all of us even the most centered Christians, Pundit’s, Priests, Rabbi’s and Healers demonstrate some degree of compulsive and/or illogical behaviors at times. Some of us depend upon our knowledge of the understanding of the causes of conditions to keep our irrationalities to an acceptable and tolerant level, without allowing it to spill over into our daily experiences and affect our personality during our lifetime. Some of us become overwhelmed at times dismissing all references to personal standards, ethics or morals and assume the character of a "fanatic,’ where we seek to punish a group for the fault of one and one for the fault of a group.

All of our personal quirks and dilemmas are centered in the area of the sub-conscious mind. Understanding the power of the sub-conscious mind, how it works, functions and protects us empowers us to utilize this knowledge along with the suggested methods of self-hypnosis, to control and eliminate impediments to our health and to achieve positive transformation. Understanding why we behave in illogical and irrational ways, maintain fluxating health patterns, compulsive behaviors, nervous conditions, fears, phobias and emotional imbalances is one of the major benefits to be derived from getting to Know Thyself.

    AS A MAN THINKETH

Throughout this book, I have used a variety of writing styles and approaches to highlight and reinforce the fact that an individual’s private thoughts, beliefs and expectations is at the core of all the happiness or calamities we experiences during each lifetime. This statement is an actual belief expressed in most holy books some of which basically states that as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. A mother in a Midwestern state in America recalled how once her young sixteen month old daughter was passing behind the car which was parked in the garage, with the engine running as she unloaded groceries. Her five year old son who was playing inside the car accidentally released the gear and the car rolled back trapping her daughter under the wheel. Her screams for help went unheard from the closed garage. In her desperation she explained that the only thing left to be done was that she had to begin thinking like superman. With her other child still in the car she grabbed the chassis of the car over the wheel area where the child was pinned and lifted a five thousand pound car, removing her child with her left foot before dropping the car. It should be noted that this woman weighed less than one hundred and thirty pounds.

The creative power of the universe takes its direction from the individual in the form of a thought whether that thought is visualized or directed as a word. The thoughts which we think are really invisible unspoken words which activate a variety of responses. For example, when we think to get up from a seated position and walk across a space and sit back down, we disregard a variety of internal, mental and emotional factors. Some of us weigh 375 pounds and may be six feet four inches tall but just the ability of raising ourselves up and moving one inch was inspired by a thought. If a thought could have such an impact in making a six feet four inches, 375 pound person move imagine the power of our individual thoughts in effecting and influencing our health, relationships and other forms of matter. "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. I believe in this case the heart" actually refers to sub-conscious mind and its ability to create an experience to match our expectations of beliefs.

Someone may be an effective public speaker, possess extreme wealth with a magnetic personality and loyal friends and we find pleasure in being around that person. This individual may then become involved in some catastrophic situation which his friends will conclude that he did not deserve and end up asking the question as to why do "bad things happen to good people. When we hold private, classified thoughts of abandonment, fear of retribution, guilt, shame, revenge, envy, abandonment or rejection this conjures up the most deadly response from the sub-conscious mind which subsequently administers the appropriate punishment. Sometimes this retribution or subsequent punishment is in reaction to or as protection offered to the individual by the sub-conscious mind. On the surface, the personality may offer a public façade but within that private and classified area of the individual thoughts venom brews. In this grey area, thoughts of self-mutilation, personal sabotage, suicide –and other forms of elimination methods may find its ready expression.

Many people exist behind the mask hiding a variety of hurt, rejection, pain, anger and other deadly thoughts on account of one or more past sensitizing events in their lives which had not been resolved to their satisfaction or not addressed at all. They compress these memories and unresolved emotions into private and classified compartments in the sub-conscious mind and which register’s in our physical bones and flesh. Some people tell themselves that they are speaking their mind but never really saying what is on their minds –which is what is actually causing the pain. These emotions are lodged in the sub-conscious mind and although we never know someone’s most innermost thoughts, we could always see the impact of it. It is just that most of us do not make the connection or recognize the relationships. Knowing how to think as opposed to what to think would certainly yield a much greater experience and quality of life.

    THE UNCONSCIOUS MIND

The Unconscious mind is another level of awareness separate and distinct from the conscious and sub-conscious mind whose primary responsibility is the maintenance of the automatic functioning of the body’s organs, structure and integrity. Most humans would normally make an appointment for a certain time the following day, weeks or months to achieve a certain objective. We schedule dates in advance and worry about if we would have enough money to facilitate transportation, if our car will be working, if we will get there on time, what clothes we will wear and a variety of other related and unrelated factors. Nowhere in this consideration is there any concern given as to whether our heart, liver, kidney, bladder, spleen or heart will be functional enough for us to facilitate our pre-arranged appointment. We take note of all these other concerns without an automatic thought about the integrity of our major body parts and organs which, if imbalanced or non-functioning will render us unable to get out of our bed or meet any pre-arranged appointment despite our best outfit, reliable transportation, quantity of money or ease of access towards achieving our objective.

This automatic functioning of our body’s integrity, parts and organs is the responsibility of the unconscious part of our awareness. The unconscious part of our awareness works in juxtaposition and absolute harmony with our sub-conscious mind. If by way of the adoption of negative thoughts, beliefs and expectations and the harboring of extreme guilt or shame a penalty is exacted and punishment is directed to the body then the unconscious mind offers no form of defense or protection that falls within the domain and responsibility of the sub-conscious mind. The unconscious mind could be equated with the pillars or posts of a house. Although the roof, windows and sides may be blown off in a storm, all the pillars still faithfully support the structure and will remain standing intact until the last or next to last one removed results in that powerful frame being toppled but loyal to the last pillar. The unconscious mind operates much the same way; its very existence could be equated with the concept of unquestionable Faith. There is a natural faith exercised when we make an appointment hours, day and weeks into the future and take it for granted that all organs and internal body parts will be intact and functional to meet those scheduled appointments. Faith again, is surgically highlighted when we go about our daily concerns for months and years and even a lifetime oblivious to the awesome responsibilities and work of the unconscious mind.

The workings of the unconscious mind could ideally be equated with faith in action, this is the same unconscious faith which we must exercise in the pursuit of the materializations of our objectives and aspirations. Absolute and total "unconscious unquestionable faith," believing that whatever you aspire to achieve will be achieved is the foundation and blueprint for its eventual outcome or manifestation. In the holy book at the conclusion of Mark 11:23 it states and if you believe, have faith and do not doubt, you will get whatever you so desire.

As a living organism, we do not have to exercise any reasoning or mental deductions when we breathe, exhale, perspire or make our blood circulate. There seem to be an automatic and faithful process in exercising these functions which is all part of the responsibilities of the Unconscious mind.

    VARIOUS REFERENCES REGARDING

    THE SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND

The sub-conscious mind is referred to in many disciplines as the kingdom of god, the inner self, the ego, "the inner child, the self within, the spirit, the soul, the higher self, or the sub-conscious mind. In other languages, cultures and religions it is also referred to by many other names and descriptions. In whatever terms used in whatever culture, the sub-conscious mind refers to a consciousness which is separate and apart from normal daily conscious awareness or focus. Although the term sub refers to a state as being under, below, subordinate or secondary to; the sub-conscious mind is certainly not below or subordinate to the conscious mind. In reality, it is the other way around. In fact, the sub-conscious mind is that part of our total awareness which is responsible for transforming the beliefs, expectations and information which is accepted as a "fact" by the conscious mind and transforming them into a corresponding experience or physical object. From this perspective each individual views and assumptions are always considered as being right or correct, since their personal experiences will always reflect their belief and expectations. From this perspective it is easy to recognize the effects of an individual or a group’s "fanatical" beliefs upon our collective reality.

Many writers of the eighteenth and nineteenth century used many folk-like storyline references to convey subliminal teachings about the power of the sub-conscious mind and convey other metaphysical information. Many of these stories were creatively disguised to camouflage the intent, yet still allowed it to be subliminally absorbed and translated by the sub-conscious mind by way of metaphor’s through stories such as; The Pearl Necklace, Gulliver’s Travels in Lilliput, Polyphemus the one eyed giant, Alice in Wonderland, The Dog and the Bone, The ugly duckling. Little red riding hood, The turtle and the Hare," and The Story of Cinderella. These are just some of the metaphysically based stories, containing pertinent subliminal reflections and information regarding the nature of personal reality. "The fairy god-mother" of Cinderella’s reality may very well represent the sub-conscious mind’s ability to positively transform any and all negative situations encountered irrespective of the apparent obstacles, limitations or challenges. Almost the entire collection of Aesop fables are filed with metaphysically based subliminal information directed to the sub-conscious mind of the reader.’ It could be argued that in all religious disciplines the existence of the sub-conscious mind is acknowledged.

In our modern society when listening to others speak, a popular expression is used such as it was in my sub-conscious mind, my sub-conscious mind told me to, I asked my sub-conscious mind de question" or I have it in my sub-conscious mind. Most of these statements are made unconsciously by the individual without truly understanding the actual power and make-up of the sub-conscious mind and the extent of its role in creating our personal experiences and its ability to create and/or correct any medical imbalance.

The individual, who specifically takes the initiative to attempt to understand the power of the sub-conscious mind, will have engaged themselves in one of the most productive, meaningful and lucrative investments in their lifetime.

    THE SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND

The sub-conscious mind could be considered the master level of our awareness which is very non-judgmental and totally impartial. Its primary responsibility is to prove the conscious mind of the individual correct in all his assumptions about reality or world view." The second important function is to protect the individual from any real or imagined threat or danger which it identifies as challenge to the existence of the individual whether those threats is a figment of the imagination or a real one. The sub-conscious mind is the architect, producer, director and writer of its own personal experience. Its existence, functions and responsibilities in its most basic terms could be equated with that of a most reliable workaholic. The sub-conscious mind does not exercise a rational or analytical form of reasoning or thinking. Any task assigned to the sub-conscious mind will be executed without the slightest utilization of normal analytical or rational discrimination or judgment. Anything that the sub-conscious mind is told to do by the conscious mind it does exactly as it is told.

Giving the sub-conscious mind a task to do, whether consciously or unconsciously, begins by the establishment of a conscious thought, belief, idea or expectation held firmly in the conscious mind. This belief or expectation is then transmitted to the sub-conscious mind which functions as a transformer that reinterprets and converts any expectation or belief held firmly by the conscious mind into an experience or a form of matter. For example, if the individual harbors any type of fear about achieving an objective or believes firmly that it will not be achieved or some aspiration cannot be accomplished, then, the sub-conscious mind wastes no time in proving the individual correct. In the same manner, if you believe emphatically and with deep conviction that whatever you wish to accomplish or achieve you will achieve and that belief is held firmly and unshakable in the conscious mind, then the sub-conscious mind will expend all of its resources to make that conscious belief or expectation become a reality. The same thing applies to harboring a fear of what may be considered an impending situation which the individual believes is sure or bound to happen. It has been proven that the sub-conscious mind tends to materialize a fear much faster that it would materialize a suggestion for positive change.

In some of the later chapters, examples are offered as to how the sub-conscious mind processes deep fears and its impact upon one’s health. It is important to know that the sub-conscious mind does not align itself with ideas of morality. A serial rapist or murderer will commit a series of perfect crimes killing prostitutes over a period of thirty years and never get caught by simply convincing his sub-conscious mind of the morality and need of his act as a purger of what he perceives as the negative ills of society. His sub-conscious mind will always protect and prevent him from leaving discernable trails and evidence. Moreover, to make matters easier this individual will not have an ounce of guilt for any of his crimes and as a result rarely make any mistakes which may lead back to him. Whenever guilt exists, the sub-conscious mind is swift to administer punishment. The manifestation of this guilt will normally show up in the form of the criminal leaving a series of trails leading back to themselves which causes them to be captured or the individual becoming a causality as a result of his actions which permanently impedes their progress of killing or raping.

The sub-conscious mind makes no distinction or discrimination. If it is asked to do something good or bad it will accomplish any objective regardless of the consequences associated with the request. In all cases the sub-conscious mind will be reliable, obedient, faithful and will keep you out of harm’s way, only if you specifically ask it to do so and supplement that request with loving, pleasing, optimistic, ethical thoughts. The opposite of this is that, the sub-conscious will get you into hot water or cold water if that is your desire based upon directions given by way of negative thoughts and conscious or unconscious directives. Irrespective as to whether or not we realize we are using the power of the sub-conscious mind, we utilize and depend upon this source in some manner each day of our lives.

When we doubt ourselves and that doubt is then manifested as a failure, then look to ourselves and friends and say I knew it and when we believe that we will accomplish an objective within the limits of our capacity and we do, then look to ourselves and friends and say "I
