About this ebook

Reinventing Poetry: The Final Edition, a collection of Poems, is designed to inspire the core of personal experience and initiate an inner exploration. My poems speak for the unheard and queries into, suggest alternatives with, and exist with their own creative individuality and magnetism. They explore and attempt to redefine conventionally held concepts and beliefs in light of the species improved and expanded awareness. They also aspire to influence the subconscious mind and conscious-reasoning processes to examine alternative methods of reasoning by utilizing and combining visualization, word association, and ideas from official and unofficial point of views. It also offers suggestions through the medium of poetry for achieving personal growth and transformation.

Author

Franchot Peter Moore Sr.

Franchot Peter Moore Sr. was born on the island of Trinidad, in the city of San Fernando, on September 25, 1954. He lived his adolescent life in the villages of Penal, Siparia, La Brea, San Fernando, and Diego Martin until the age of fourteen, when he migrated to the United States to join his parents and sisters. Over the past forty-six years, Mr. Moore has used his poetry in his discussions and lectures as a motivational medium and as a contribution to improving the quality of all life. Franchot is a disabled Vietnam-era veteran and feels especially inspired by his past work on behalf of veterans at the US Department of Veterans Affairs in New York City and Florida. He is also a former member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Florida, and Washington State Boxing Association in the capacity of a professional boxing inspector, referee, and judge. He also takes great pride in his contribution in shaping the lives of young people over the past forty-plus years through his efforts in the USA Boxing Inc. Amateur boxing program as a senior (grandfather III), referee, and judge. Fulfilling a dream of returning to Trinidad to live in 2004, after an absence of thirty-six years, Mr. Moore became involved with the Trinidad and Tobago Amateur boxing program as a senior referee/judge. He was the founder and head coach of the Pleasantville Amateur Boxing (and life skills) Academy and also functioned as the technical officer / bout supervisor of the Trinidad and Tobago Boxing Board of Control and former president of Friends of Boxing of Trinidad and Tobago. Over the past three years, Franchot fulfilled another lifelong dream of relocating from Trinidad to the Island of Tobago, where he lived for one year in the Village of Plymouth to edit several books he wrote since returning to Trinidad. Franchot returned to the United States in May 2014 and now lives in Miami, Florida, and is also the author of Understanding the Power of the Sub-Conscious Mind, Hypnosis, and other effective Healing Options and A Collection of Metaphysical Experiences. He is a certified clinical hypnotherapist trained by Dr. Gerald Kien of the Omni Hypnosis Institute in De Land, Florida, and feels inspired when utilizing the medium of clinical hypnotherapy in assisting others in bringing about meaningful changes to their health and quality of life.

    READING THIS BOOK OF POETRY

When we think of someone reading a good book of poetry it conjures up images of the individual sitting in a reclined chair, maybe a smoothie at the side, resting under a coconut tree on a beach on some tropical island. You may find yourself in the corner of a public library, under the covering of a bus stop shed, the upper pool side deck of a cruise ship, seated on a train crunched between two individual’s whom you mentally accuse of reading over your shoulders, in a classroom, in a hospital bed or in a prison cell. My personal perspective suggests that in whatever environment you presently find yourself, cuddled with a copy of Reinventing Poetry, the emotional exercise of reading my poems could serve as; an aid for pleasure, an understanding of alternative principles, a medium of enlightenment or as a tool to be used for the healing of hurt souls.

Poetry has historically been a sort of complicated subject whether it is read aloud, associated with music or used as a religious recital. All songs begin as a poem and to some people that form of expression of poetry suits them just fine and is more palatable to them. There are others who appreciate poetry speaking to them from a typewritten page and there are some who appreciate it best as an audio presentation. In whatever format you are currently inclined to appreciate poetry this book will serve your purpose and meet your most basic expectations.

Poetry is the refined, radical and unpretentious use of words in whatever language it is presented. The words of the poet are normally used with an unrestricted license and tend to cut deeper than the normal words used in the same context. A much greater appreciation of this book will come when the reader decides where each poem belongs within their own mental framework, emotional reference and personal experience. Having done that, I give you permission to claim ownership of the poem and extract the inherent healing properties from within that particular poem.

No one poem in my book could be edited or refitted to fit the perception of what an individual may perceive to be a most fitting ending or a better word, verb, adverb or pronoun. The end product of these poems is final in its own essence as are the works of all other poets. As artists,’ we gain our independence this way! The poet’s ability to form or create lifelike mental images and engage the imagination of the reader, listener or observer has always been a major inspiration to me since beginning writing poetry at the age of four.

In reading this book of poetry, I also take you upon a personal tour through a part of my own emotional experience and personal philosophy which I have used to overcome all my personal challenges. Within the context of my words; you may sometimes feel my hurt, rejection, feelings of abandonment, deceit, betrayal and disappointment but you will always detect a trail of forgiveness, regeneration, illumination and healing. In sharing my experiences offered to you through the medium of my words. I bid you an enjoyable reading journey and an emotional and inspiring experience of self-realization and transformation.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

(The people whose names are mentioned below are those whose life works, world view

and positions taken have touched my life and inspired me in some special way)

I Will be forever grateful to each individual I have ever had the opportunity to see with my physical eyes and to meet both in and out of the flesh. Regardless of the extent of someone’s achievement no individual could truly say that he or she achieved it without the assistance or motivation of one or a group of individuals. Therefore, special thanks are extended to my parents: Beresford and Mavis Moore. My grandparents: John and Nora De Silva, Drucilla Paul and Cyril Moore. My most beloved Schoolteacher Mr. Titus A. Gordon who over a period of (35) thirty-five years as an educator and in his capacity as principal of San-Fernando Boy’s R.C. School nurtured and shaped the minds of generations of young men and women, including my own.
