Ms. Bache has practiced as a nurse for over fifty years. She was an USAF nurse and a graduate of a three-year hospital school of nursing, four colleges to obtain a BSN, and the graduate studies at Catholic University and University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. During all this, she was moving as a military wife and mother of four. She has worked in almost every aspect of nursing before and after she served in the military—from the ER, pediatrics, surgery, and med surge to geriatrics and skilled nursing administration. Her passion is quality care for every patient, and she feels the pressure to move toward technology and away from care. She writes this with the hope that others will awaken to the trend and join her in pushing for a better system of care for our people.

I would like to dedicate this book to all of the patients and all of the staff members that I have had the privilege of serving and knowing.

Americans today need to be more cognizant of what is being imposed on them in the name of improvements in the system. They then must take action to work with their representatives to make improvements instead of being led down a blind path into domination.

Long-term healthcare is certainly not something most people are interested in talking about. However with the aging of the baby boomers, it is a topic that begs to be discussed at length.
