Preface:
How This Book Came to Be Written
This book came to be written while I was in church at what Catholics call Eucharistic Adoration
. This is where the priest exposes the consecrated Body of Christ usually in front of a tabernacle in church, and people come to pray and worship God through His Son, Jesus. This is done on special occasions, or on one day per week or month, or even perpetually
in some parishes, which means that it is done twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
Parishioners sign up to come and pray for thirty minutes or one hour at a time. Each person then repeats his or her time every week, or once per month, as in Nocturnal Adoration which is done on the first Friday and Saturday of every month. You come to pray and ask God for your needs, and those needs of friends and family members. You also come to thank God for all of your blessings. It is an extraordinary time of peace and asking for forgiveness of sins or just having a talk with God, His Son Jesus, or the Holy Spirit.
As I was praying and meditating during one Adoration time, I heard a voice say: Write this down
. I had brought a pen and notebook to remind me of some of the people and things that I wanted to pray for. So I started hearing sentences, and I wrote down two or three pages as fast as I possibly could. I did not hear a direct voice as you would when talking to someone, but I knew exactly what to write down. It was more like contemplative prayer
, which is praying in silence from your heart. I continued coming to adoration with a pen and paper in hand, and I just started writing the words that came to me. These words came quickly and effortlessly, and I believe that they were not originated by me, since I usually struggle when writing a speech or an essay.
I believe that God is using me as a messenger to spread this information to you, and anyone that you choose to give a copy of this book to. Please keep your copy of the book and notes to review and add new thoughts to the topics as you see fit. Just like a fine automobile, we all need a tune-up every now and then, just to keep our lives running a little more smoothly.
