NAPOLITANO
It was a sunny day…
NAPOLITANO ???? I bet you’re wondering what that means. Well, do you know that ice cream with vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate flavor?
Image20965.tifThe name of that ice cream is Neapolitan, same as Napolitano but in Italian.
Also, it’s MY name. I am a GNOME. And among us, the way you get a name depends on the way you look like. Just take a look at me. My clothes are yellow-vanilla, and chocolate brown, and I also have this pinkish magic bubble floating around my hat.
(Yes, Pink! If you believe pink is just for girls, you are sooo wrong! Pink is Fantasy, and my life is full of that. Just wait and you’ll find out.)
Where was I? Oh yeah! My colors are yellow-vanilla, chocolate brown, and pink. Now you get the idea where my name came from? Not a lot of options, either NAPOLITANO or Rainbow.
I’m not complaining. Just ask my brother Cactus. HaaaHaaa! I’m sorry, you must not MAKE FUN of anyone’s name. It’s rude, I know. But he’s just my brother. Are you telling me that you Neeever have fought with your siblings? I can’t help it; he’s green, and his hair looks like picks. Can you imagine a better name for him?
Image20975.tifAnyway, this is my story. I used to live in a beautiful forest with giant trees and colorful flowers and butterflies and birds and blue sky. Too corny? I know, it sounds like a FAIRY TALE, but it’s not. It was fantastic living there. There were NO Fairies at all, at least not in my neighborhood, even though I heard some stories about them—scary stories—they are not what you think.
Image20984.tifI didn’t know how or when, but suddenly everything just Disappeared, and I meant everything! No flowers, no birds, no trees, just buildings and freeways and running cars. It happened so fast that I didn’t have time to react. I saw my friends move, but I stayed in that frightening place they called PARK. Do you know what it is?
Image20994.tifMy BBF (Best friend forever), my cat, Gomalín—yes, CAT. I had a cat. ALL gnomes have a pet. I choose a cat because they are sooooo soft and warm and adorable! Besides, I lived in a tree, remember? Not a good idea having a dog inside a tree. Do you know what dogs do in every tree they see? YUUUCKK!!!!!
My cat and I lived peacefully in this terrific tree hole in the middle of the forest, but when this PARK arrived, we were surrounded by illuminated buildings and smoky cars, animals gone, flowers dead, darkie sky, and the NOISE! The endless noise! I couldn’t sleep at night anymore, no more sparkly stars. Where were they? But even so, I thought I could live there, but along the PARK came these little weird creatures called children. Ahhhhh. You have no idea. They were terrible! Noisy, dirty, whining, and they used a lot of funny gadgets like these noisy bikes,
and they used them all the time. They even crashed them into the trees. Was it that hard to avoid the tree? Why crash the bike on it! Especially on mine. This was IN-TO-LE-RA-BLE. No more peace or tranquility. Gnomes need peace and tranquility to … mmm … well, to … ehhh … to … to … to do gnome stuff. Of course, you wouldn’t understand! Anyhow, like I said, living in that park was not worth it, but there was nothing I could do. I would like to take all my stuff and just move away, just like all my friends did, but it’s not that easy for a gnome. Once you graduate from Gnome school, you are assigned to a specific tree, and you belong to that tree. You cannot leave that tree ever—at least no more than thirty feet—that´s why I should be ALWAYS
