()
About this ebook
Pangaea is divided into five countries, or as they are called, civilizations. The fire civilization forged bits of the lava of volcanoes and the magma rock. The earth civilization is famous for its deserts and oasis. The water one has architectures made of complete ivory, and the air one is where the art of gods appreciation is practiced. Finally, there is the capital of the world, New Pangaea.
In the air civilization, a young boy, Merrick, is born, and on the day of his birth, his mom disappears and is presumed to be dead. When he turns eighteen, he and the presidents daughter, Leslie Stephanie, discover that they are Nephilims and that the president hates their race.
There their adventures start throughout this magnificent world filled with amazing creatures and landscapes.

V. M. Fernandez always loved fantasies and a world where people had magic or any kind of superpowers. The Merrick Chronicles is the first among other ideas that he had as he was growing up, then at the age of nineteen, he published his first book with the help of family and friends. Although he was born in the little island of Cuba and came to the United States at the age of eleven, he now resides in Miami, Florida, living in a family house with his mother, stepfather, and the little dog named Macho, named after the Spanish word “men.” There he keeps on expanding the everlasting world of “Pangaea” and the exciting adventures of the Nephilim Merrick.

Merrick
I have never been the best student in class. I’ve never turned in a homework nor my attendance was perfect, but why anything weird or extremely strange does needs to happen to me. Oh sorry, my name is Merrick I’m from the air civilization. Yea, the world is divided into five civilizations. Fire, those cocky bastards never lose a fight, I would not recommend having a contest or some other kind of competition with them. Earth, those are the most unexcited persons in the whole world, you just give them a piece of rock and they will become zombie for the rest of their lives. The water civilization is one of my favorites. Their food is amazing, and they are pacifists they do not believe in war, which is odd because they have the best army of all. Last but not least, Pangea City, here is where all the laws are made and all the rich people live. I live in Pangea City. I was not born here though, but not that unfortunately my dad is the ambassador of the air civilization so we travel a lot all over the world. I love traveling with my dad, I have been in all of the civilizations, some are super rich and have tall buildings, some are medium class, but what I like the most is that there is no poverty in this world, and that’s all thanks to The Capital, or that is what I used to think.
Out of 100% newborns 48% babies are born human (the term human means, no abilities), 48% other are born with elemental abilities. These are the abilities to control the elements, or telekinesis and flying all sort of amazing stuff. From the 4% left two percent are born human and at the age of 17 their abilities, if they have one, come out; and that other 2% only occurs once in three millennials. Those children are born with the abilities to have all the abilities. They are called Nephilim’s
. Of course not, you do not have to control fire, to be in the fire civilization. That is just a way that the Capital found to divide the world in an organized matter or that is what I used to think too. I had yet to know my abilities or if I even had one. I was only 16 years old and my birthday was in about three days. Which was December 11. I used to go to The Academy of Knowledge and Power
weird name right? I used to think the same. Like all normal children in this world, I have a best friend which is a white wildcat named Altaic and a secret love that half of the school know who she is and if they don’t know someone will tell them eventually. Leslie Stephanie Marie Cornelius, sorry is not like I am obsessed or anything is just that she is my father’s boss daughter, which that makes her the daughter of the President of the world. Yep, I hang around important people all the time and I have to wear suit and ties, which are not my favorites, I am about 5'9 tall and I weigh no more than 120 LB no strong enough. My magnificent black hair makes all the ladies stare (not really) and for some reason I have this weird piece of hair that is white. I have tried to cut it but it always seems to grow white. My mom passed away when I was six and since then it has always been my dad, Altaic and betty the suitcase, my dad calls his suitcase betty because he says that it remembers my mom somehow. I’ve learned not to argue with him about that.
It all started a normal day of school, I was coming out of my first class which was on the 200th floor of my school. The school is a huge green circle like building that has 400 floors plus the gym and pool on the last one. The first day of freshman year the school gives every student a card just like a credit card, that says your student ID number and your schedule, you just slide it in the elevator and it will take you directly to your class. That day after I got out of my first class. I went to the big silver doors of the elevator I put my ID card into the little tiny horizontal hole the elevator has to its left and almost instantaneously the door opened and I got in. My second class was Applied Physics on the 124th floor. Long trip ha? Not really I was there in just about two minutes and a half. When the doors of the elevator opened I was in the science lab, it was a blue lab, with pictures of all the best scientist in the world. At the end of it I turned left and the second red door to my right that was room 124-13 my class. I passed my ID card once more and the door unlocked. I opened and Ms. Moore was sitting there with her blue wig and huge red glasses, wearing her long long extravagant dresses with flowers and birds. Her blue eyes seemed to stab my face every time I got to class. Of course I was not her favorite student. She was the perfect student kind of teacher. I did some research of her and I found that she is a direct descendant of Julius Alta flex the one who invented the flying tables. Too bad that they flew too much and the experiment was a decline. The classroom was painted light green and was decorated with pictures of animals and plants. Practically the class looked like a jungle full of technology and gadgets but I did not mind as long as the lady didn’t pick on me. I sat on the last seat on the third row and just put my inalambric headphones and laid my head on the table till the class ended like every day. Usually the the bell that rings to tell when you have to switch classes wakes me up, but this time I had really fallen asleep. Mrs. Moore woke me up hitting me in the head with the black hawk
a black ruler that she had since the ancient times. Time to go mister
she said, and yea my name is Merrick Just like my dad but everyone calls me The Mist. I woke up and sprinted out of the classroom towards the elevator. I had lunch now and if I did not have the number 20th at least for the pudding I was going to starve till three o’clock that my dad’s bodyguard Rufus picked me up. I rushed through the elevator and reached the 21st floor that was where one of the eight cafeterias was located. As soon as the doors of the elevator opened I sprinted through the halls and through the humongous crystal doors of the cafeteria. The line was long already, I checked and my pudding was already taken. I should have known
I muttered to myself I sat on one of the forever alone tables
which obviously no one seated here. As if my day was not ruined completely Alexander Gardner, the most popular kid of the school sat in the seat next to me. After him came his best friend Charles P. Aru or as I call him monkey face
he had this muscular body and then a huge head on top of it, it’s like someone had fed him with nitrogen move ant
said Charles stumping on me that seat is already taken
As always I used all my courage to give the seat to him. I am not the type of kid that gets beat up thanks to my all powerful force called Dad
everyone in the school knew who my dad was and I think that’s why I was still here. Alexander had the ability of fire, he could control it and summon it whenever he wanted, and I guess that is why he was so popular. Luckily for me according to one of the school board’s laws abilities are not to be used on campus, but not all of the students followed those rules. After that, I started to walk to my next class when I saw her. Leslie… her black hair seemed to shine, her blue eyes too, she was wearing white jeans and a blouse sort of like a bed sheet on top of her but she looked gorgeous anyway. She passed right by my side and I could not do anything but stare. None knew exactly what her ability was but I was almost sure that it was beauty. After staring at her like a dork, the bell woke me up from the awake fantasy and I had to rush again to my next class. The day went fast after that and at 3:00 I got out of the school and there was Rufus waiting for me with the white limousine of my dad what up big guy?
I said and handed him my backpack. He was a man of no words. All my life the only words I have heard him say was yes sir
and Get out of the way!
That one is every time we are stuck on traffic. We headed through the main avenue of the Capital to the hotel were me and my dad were staying, The Emerald Hotel
. A nine stars hotel with pool on the apartment and everything, plus 24 hours room service and all the pudding you can eat. The hotel was a huge building of 300 floors. It was visible form pretty much every rooftop of The Capital. It was made of blue crystals and its architecture was shaped into a rectangular emerald. After we parked Rufus put his huge muscular hand over my face like he had to do every time I got to any place
