About this ebook

This book is about the items that inform our decisions and how much influence these have on our final choices. Our main focus has been on the voices we hear either from our parents, friends, or church leaders and their effect on lifes choices. Amazingly, most of us take for granted the things we hear either in our spirit or naturally. The voices that we heard at one point in time have made us who we are today.
Those of us who have walked with God closely will confirm that He speaks to His children.

Voices of Influence - Mauclarie Ayeley Obimpeh

    Chapter 1

    I Heard a Voice

As the year began, any time l got into my quiet time with the Lord and began to talk to Him, l would hear a voice and He would say to pray for His voice to chart my day and the year. Increasingly, His voice began to open my spiritual eyes to many scriptures and revelations about voices. Then the voice of the Lord said to me, ‘Document this message l am scripting now as it will influence and speak to many.’ This book was birthed in my quiet time with the Lord. The essential thing to do as a child of God when you wake up in the morning is to ask the Father to speak to you as you journey through the day that He has graciously given to you.

I did mention that there are two major voices that influence our destinies—the voice of God and the voice of Satan or the devil. In the beginning of creation, the Lord God spoke, l mean there was a voice heard in Genesis 1:28 and 30:

God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’ Then God said, ‘l give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’ (NIV)

God gave them fish, birds, and every living creature and also every seed-bearing plant to be food. These have been the source of our livelihood until man began to hear other voices.

    WHAT VOICES ARE YOU HEARING?

Magazines and newspapers have become our voices and no longer the good book left for us by the Master. Shockingly enough, some Christians spend more time hearing the voices of these materials than we do spend time in hearing the Lord’s voice through the Bible or godly scriptures or spirit-filled journals scripted by men and women of God.

Radio and TV talk shows are telling us beauty is being skinny to the bones. Sadly, many believers have yielded to these voices and are responding to their demands, forgetting that it is the voice of the Lord that says, ‘The blessings of The Lord maketh one rich or fat.’ (Proverbs 10:22). When you are rich, you look fresh and endearing. Your skin is beautiful because you eat well and take care of your body. In ancient Egypt, people wore fragrances that made their skins glow and looked younger. In my culture in ancient Ghana, when one was betrothed or married, she had to be fed to grow beautiful and fed to be fat. This is a sign of the blessings of the Lord. They did not die because they had a little more flesh on their bodies but rather portrayed the blessings of the Lord. They lived longer than our generation. We are dying young as a result of sin and ignorance. The wrong voices are speaking to us. A young woman came to me for counselling and her worry was that she was being rejected by men because they described her as ‘fat’. I advised it was from the pit of hell as she was big boned and she barely ate. She goes to the gym, lives on fruits and salads. Should she live in denial because the wrong voices were speaking to her? No. She had to be balanced and God had made her beautiful. God did not make everyone slim and slender. He also made some big because He is a God of variety.

King Solomon in the bible had fine flour in abundance, ten stall-fed cattle, one hundred well-bred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roe bucks, and choice fowls—

1 Kings 4:22–23: ‘Now King Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour, sixty kors of meal, ten fatted oxen, twenty oxen from the pastures, and one hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks and fatted
