A Murder of Crows - Phillip Colasessano
Chapter one
The Evil That Men Do
Sometimes the monster that’s under your bed isn’t half as scary as the one that sleeps down the hall. The yellow eyes in the corner of your room are nothing compared to the twisted smile of the man following you home from work. The human mind is the darkest place in the world, what’s on the outside is rarely what lies deep within. This is the sum of the sick and twisted.
May I Have Some more
Debbie has always loved a good piece of meat. Only the most tender and succulent of meat will do for her. When she sank her teeth into a chunk of beef and the juices flowed freely into her mouth she was never happier. Debbie went to the best eats in town at least three times a week and when the new place opened she was first in line. The new place was called Riverpark. It was a small place that had a medical theme where all the dishes came out in the form of body parts. It was a strange place but the meat was perfect each bite was seasoned to perfection and the right amount of blood. Each bite sent a smile shooting across Debbie’s face. Words could find no place at her small table.
She sat alone and enjoyed each bite. When she finished she called the waiter back to the table and asked for a second helping. When the meat hit the table it was even better than the first and was gone before she knew it. She wiped her face and once again called over the waiter for a third helping. The third was even better than the two prior helpings. The blood gushed from her mouth as she sank her teeth into the most tinder slice of meat she had ever had. No matter how much she ate she couldn’t get enough. Time after time she called the waiter over for more. Until she couldn’t eat another bite. When she took her last bite she fell from her chair and the world flashed into reality. Debbie was never in a restaurant named Riverpark.
Riverpark was a hospital for the mentally unstable. Debbie sat alone every day in a dead end job with no friends and no family to go home to. When the taunting by her co-workers and local people became too much she snapped and cut apart two of her coworkers and ran over two others that were fleeing the area. When she was proven insane she was locked away in a cell all alone and left to rot. Hunger began to nip at her heels as she was starved day by day. Her mind broken and tattered created a world around her to help her cope with the pain of being locked away and slowly starved to death.
In her mind she was eating the best food had ever had but in the real world she was pulling off her own flesh and muscles and eating herself alive. When the nurse finally made her rounds she peered into the door slit but saw nothing but darkness. Out of nowhere a skinless face shot into the light and asked with what looked like a smile MAY I HAVE SOMEMORE…
Dream Fields
Kate has the same dream every night she’s walking through a tall grassy field that goes on for miles and miles. The sun beats down on her face as she walks toward the horizen, the smell of the dry grass flows in and out of her nose. The wind blows the knee high grass to and fro, everything feels so real. She sees something way off in the distance, but its to far away to make it out. The wind picks up and whips the grass hard into her leg leaving a small cut on her upper knee. The sky darkens and clouds grow in number, with the crack of thunder she springs from her dream to the sound of a blareing alarm clock.
She rubs her eyes and walks sleeply into the bathroom for her morning shower. The hot water rains down her and as it hits her knee she pulls away in pain. She looks down to see a cut in the same place she had been struck by the grass. Thinking nothing of it she finishes up her
