Jerome Leonard
Jerome Leonard, otherwise known as Kool in the chauffeur’s world, has over eighteen years of experience in driving executive luxury cars, buses, and limousines in San Francisco, California. Step back in time to the late ’90s, Jerome was working as a driver, delivering blueprints in Oakland, California, making minimum wages, and punching a time clock. He knew it was time for a career change. One day, while sitting in the lunch room with the other workers, he picked up the San Francisco newspaper. He checked out the Help Wanted ads and was intrigued by one that simply stated "Chauffeurs Wanted." He decided to check it out. After all, he had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Little did he know this decision would alter his life significantly. He called the company and was told to come to the interview wearing a black suit, white shirt, black shoes, and tie. He used his very last savings to purchase a suit and went to what would turn out to be his new career. Of course, fear tried to take over when he saw the vehicle he would be responsible to drive, but Jerome had goals and a family to support and motivation to kick fear in the butt and do this thing. He excelled in the interview and road test and was hired the same day! The money was good, and soon he became one of the top chauffeurs in the industry. Jerome credits the people who took a chance on him—Peyman, Felicia, and Saeed with the Limousine Companies—and changed his life and that of his family (twin daughters, Kalaylah and Shakaylah; sons, Jerome II and Edward; twin granddaughters, Isabella and LilyRose; grandsons, Julian, Javon, and Kayden; father, Victor Sr., deceased; mother, Angela; twin sister, Janet; brothers, Victor, deceased; and Carl). It is with great pride, honor, honesty, integrity, professionalism, and knowledge that he represents this profession and has applied these principles for over eighteen years in his interaction with clients many of which have given him many rewards, such as increased finances, new friendships, and the life of being a celebrity in the chauffeur’s world. This book first became an idea two years after his first drive. With his fiftieth birthday arriving soon, it was time to complete this lifelong goal and commit to completing what after twelve months of writing, editing, blood, sweat, and yes, even some tears: Through the Chauffeur’s Eyes. This is a source of great pride for Jerome, who has always tried to be an example to his children and teach them to make commitments to themselves to achieve success, and that success is equal to accomplishment. The big winners are the people who will read this book and feel a part of his journey as a limousine chauffeur. Chapters like Limo Brawl, Sex in the Limo, Rolling with the Celebrities, Special Ks, The Limo Chase, The Chauffeur’s World, and others will have you laughing, crying, and holding your head throughout your journey. Looking back at some of his charters makes him smile, cry, laugh, and hold his head up all at the same time, and it isn’t over yet. He's looking forward to continuing his career in the chauffeur world, so when you see a limousine rolling down the street, Kool may be in it. Don't wait another day! Synopsis
About The Author
DEDICATION
I dedicate this book to Mr. Posey, the Wiseman,
who changed my life at the age of eight. I do believe God will send an angel to help you through your journey of life. These angels will lead, teach, and test your strengths and weakness. You have to be ready and know when this angel approaches your life.
Mr. Posey shared his wisdom and taught me at a very early age to be a man, to be independent, and to be financially responsible. He would also remind me that I was a child under him. He taught me to respect my elders and that the chain of command was always in affect.
Mr. Posey had three older male friends: Mr. Punch, Mr. Bell, who had retired from the military, and Mr. Taylor, who had a tailor shop down the street from Mr. Posey’s floor-covering shop. At Mr. Posey’s shop, he taught me about his floor-covering business. I had the honor to talk to these gentlemen while I was growing up. They also contributed knowledge and respect to my life.
At the age of ten, Mr. Posey gave me my first ten-dollar bill. I took it to the Wells Fargo bank located at the corner of his floor-covering store in Berkeley, California. I went into the bank and walked up to one of the tellers. She looked at me and asked, Little boy, how can I help you?
I proudly replied, I have ten dollars and would like to open a bank account.
She laughed and called her manager. I did not know that as a minor, I needed to have my parent with me. So I dashed home and told my mother she needed to go with me to the bank.
We returned to Wells Fargo, and I received a brown savings account book with ten dollars available. I was so excited. I knew that my life had changed after that day. I made a personal promise to make a weekly deposit into my bank account and to always work to achieve income in order to make the deposit.
Sadly, Mr. Posey died during my fourteenth year on this planet. I really miss him and wish he could see what he created in me.
I also would like to dedicate this book to my eldest brother, Victor Leonard Jr., who died in 2007. He was my big brother and looked out for the family. Victor was a very talented drummer and music producer. At any time, I would always call him for advice. In Oakland, California, where we were born and raised, people knew us as the Leonard musical family.
My dad played and traveled as a drummer with many famous artists in the late ’40s–’50s. My other brother Carl Leonard and I were also drummers at home. My mom, Angela Leonard-Mizell, and my twin sister, Janet Leonard, had to endure a lot of music as well as other musicians in our home and maintain their sanity.
My brother Victor Leonard Jr. would help my mom keep everything together. I miss you, brother, and will see you in the next life. Peace.

INTRODUCTION
M y name is Jerome Leonard. I am known as Kool
in the chauffeur world. I consider myself a pilot on wheels and since graduating from Chauffeuring school in 1997. I have navigated over 1 million limousine miles and in 2007 became a Chauffeur professor. I earned my chauffeuring stripes and degrees driving all types of people – celebrities, artists, millionaires, private clients and charter groups – from all over the world.
I would like to thank Peyman & Felicia Limousine Company for allowing me to drive their beautiful Black/Burgundy Stretch Limousine and teaching me the first level of chauffeuring.
People always ask me what goes on in the limousine and I smile and then say, If only you knew what is viewed through the Chauffeur’s Eyes. It is an ultimate experience.
Chauffeurs see a lot of ‘out of the box’ human behavior: men and women, poor and wealthy. These people are looking to have fun in a short window of time. Some of them are able to increase that window depending on how much money they have and how much they want to spend. The amount of people you drive creates a large amount of babysitting and sometimes even therapy sessions to calm some of these folks down after a few drinks during the day or night out in one of our fancy limousines.
The top two limousine companies in San Francisco, California have given me a lifetime of experience and skills in the chauffeuring business from 1997 until now. They are:
• Nation Wide Limousine (1997) to present:
General Manager: Saeed
• RLM Executive Limousine (2010) to present:
General Managers: Ramin and Ashley
Chauffeuring has inspired me to write my first book about the people who I have had the honor of showing another part of the world while chauffeuring a limousine. My experiences in Chauffeuring have changed my life: 95% of the time it’s good; 5% of the time it’s bad. I hold on to the good memories and let the bad experiences
