About this ebook
E. Mini'imah Bilal
Evelyn loves to talk about almost anything, but only if it’s interesting. She boldly ventures into prohibited subjects such as religion and politics. Her family and friends encourage her in positive ways while running swiftly away from her excessive talking. She finds their actions quite amusing most of the time. Meanwhile, she finds talking to herself unsatisfying. Evelyn feels she has something worthwhile to say and numerous thoughts to share. Since her expertise is not that of a public speaker, her only alternative is to share her thoughts through writing. Time is of the essence for she is a late bloomer, and at age seventy-four, her time on the earth is rapidly dwindling down. With that said, she has decided to share her thoughts with pen and paper. That way, she can still have a conversation with family, friends, and strangers. When they tire of her voice, they may just put the book down for a short moment. Evelyn is a visual artist first and foremost. She has continued to express herself through that media. She also has the need to express herself in other creative ways, acquiring new knowledge and discovering different ways of expressing herself. She currently has one book in publication, her first, in 2014. That book is titled Thoughts That Cross My Mind/Prose, Poetry and Art. Her present book is a compilation of very personal thoughts on various subjects. She feels privileged to be a participant in a personal conversation with each reader. Each of their thoughts and silent responses serves as the second voice in a conversation with her.

To My Grandchildren and
Great Grandchildren
image01.tifI would also like to dedicate this book to the late Mr. Felix Cook, formerly a teacher, principal and an assistant to H.I.S.D. Superintendent. After visiting with my parents and receiving their permission, he chose to godfather me beginning seventh grade through high school graduation. He mentored me, paid for many school lunches, lost textbooks and counseled with my class teachers. For all of the above, I am forever thankful.

Acknowledgements
The initial creative spirit is a gift from God. That spirit is then passed through the genes to the offspring. The offspring may choose to utilize this gift or not. I have chosen to graciously accept this humble gift from God and my parents.
For me, creativity is not constant, it is intermittent. I enjoy it that way because it is not always exalting. It allows a restful breath between explosions of the artistic volcano within the soul. When it explodes it blows the gold dust of creative energies into the mind, heart and soul. The actions of creativity are extremely demanding, but so rewarding and equally inspiring. Inner inspiration and outer must co-exist to form a passionate relationship required to sustain the magical order in the circle of creativity.
