    Introduction

Sarah Ann Smith or is it Smyth. It doesn’t matter how you spell it the name Smith is pronounced the same. Sarah is the oldest girl in her family. She has four brothers and two sisters. Her mother is a native from England. Her father is a native from Delland.

Mother, Margie Jones, had been going to college in England in the year 1938. Mother is an orphan, which is why you never hear about her family. One day in college, Mother was beat up. She ended up pregnant. The Queen was in the neighborhood and happened to hear Mother’s story. The Queen felt bad for her. She let Mother live at the palace where she would be protected. Mother wanted to feel needed so she got hired on as a maid. She was careful where she was pregnant with twins. The Queen helped Mother with money. Mother always looked to her as a Mom, even though the two of them are not related.

Father who is David Louis Smyth Jr. grew up in Delland. He is named after his father who is also David Louis Smyth. When Father was nineteen he decided to serve a mission for the LDS church. His mother wasn’t very happy. His father said he could go. Father was called to serve in the Pineville mission in the United States. He changed the spelling of the name Smyth to Smith so that nobody would know who he is. He served in Pineville for two years and then returned home.

Father hadn’t been home from his mission to terribly long when he went on a business trip with his mother to England. There they visited with the Queen. Father walked into the library and accidentally bumped into Mother knocking her down. He immediately apologized and helped her up on her feet. He saw how pretty Mother is and asked for her name. Before leaving England he started courting her. They both new it was love at first sight.

After a short engagement, they were married on Christmas Eve 1938. Almost three months later on March 5th 1939, the twins were born. Two boys, Ruben James, and Jared Lee. Mother and Father were both very happy. A short while later Mother wasn’t feeling well. She went to the dr. He looked her over. He couldn’t find anything. Then he picked up a heartbeat. He kept listening, pretty soon he picked up another heart beat. The dr. still kept listening. Then he found it. A third heart beat! He told mother that her problem was triplets. He told her to go home and put her feet up for six months. Grandmother and the Queen of England were happy for her.

On March 6th 1940 Sarah Ann, Eliza Jane, and David Louis III were born. The dr. then made and important discovery. Mother is different on the inside. Whenever she is pregnant, her body can’t have just one baby. She also has to be careful because she can end up pregnant really easy. She was happy to hear this, because towards the end of the year she started having health problems. The dr. put her to bed. On March 7th 1941 Martha Alice, and Thomas Scott were born. Thomas had been the problem as to why Mother was having problems. He only lived a week, and then he died. Thomas is buried in a cemetery in Delland. Father said no more children. He couldn’t stand the thought of losing another child or his wife. Martha struggles now that she is older. She is a quiet person and speaks softly about her brother.

War was all over Europe and Asia. Father wanted his family growing up in safety. He moved his family to Pineville away from the war. His brother Louis James and his wife Yvonne left and went to Hawaii. Both brothers snuck out in the middle of the night when nobody was watching. Father’s brother Louis and Yvonne later had three children, Melissa, James, and Charlotte.

When Father and Mother immigrated, Father adopted Ruben and Jared. A year later in 1942, he took his family up to Salt Lake. They were all sealed in the temple as a family. Over the years of course the children grew up. They all made friends. Ruben, Jared, and David all have a friend named Laurence Roger Moore. He is the same age as Ruben and Jared.

Laurence’s parents who are Roger Laurence and Betty Lynn Moore grew up on Vaudeville. That is how they met. He has an older sister Samantha Lyn, and two younger sisters Katie Lilly, and Annie Marie. Laurence realizes that Ruben and Jared have a sister named Sarah. He develops and interest in her and begins helping her with her problems, when he doesn’t even know what the problem is.

Father loves Pineville. He owns the sporting goods store for children and younger teenagers. He loves kids. Pineville is located on the border of Utah and Arizona. Pineville is a small and quiet town. Everything is within walking distance. There aren’t very many cars around. Pineville is considered to be one of the healthiest towns in America. It never snows either. Winters can be a little cool, but it only rains. The people are all friendly, and everybody pretty much knows each other.

Do you think that now the war has been over for a while that the family will return to Delland? Maybe not right at first. There is something Sarah doesn’t know about her father or herself. Sarah likes life right now, and she loves living in America. Even Father has to admit that he is enjoying living in a free country. He also knows that Sarah needs to know the truth about the family. It won’t be easy telling Sarah what he needs to tell her. She needs to hear it, and he seems to be the only person around to tell her. Let’s keep going and see what he says.

    Chapter 1

    An Average Girl

Sarah is sitting on the couch in the living room trying to get ahead on her homework. She can’t do it later in the week because she won’t be home. Sarah is a pretty, young lady. She is only fourteen years old right now. She has beautiful brown hair that falls over her shoulders in curls. It is dark brown in color. Her eyes can vary in color. Sometimes they look blue, and sometimes they look green. She is not tall, but she is not short for a girl her age. She dresses like the average girl her age. She wears plaid skirts with collared shirts and a small scarf around her neck. If it is cool outside she wears a sweater.

Father gets home from work. He greets Mother in the dining room with a kiss. Father is kind of a tall man. He is almost six feet tall, and very slender. He has short black hair and brown eyes. Usually he wears white shirts and black pants. Sometimes if he wants to be different he will wear a light blue shirt and brown pants. Mother is about six inches shorter than him. She is pretty. Sarah looks a lot like Mother. The main difference between the two of them is Mother looks about twenty years older, and she dresses differently. She always wears dresses that button up the front.

Father walks in the living room and sees Sarah sitting on the couch. He walks over and sits down next to her.

You are a Princess. He says in his accent that is part French and part German.

He gets up and leaves. The den is his office which is where he went. He never tells Sarah or any of her siblings what he does in there. All they know is that Father can speak French, German, English, and a little bit of Spanish. English of course is his main language.

What was that all about? She wonders. She comes to the conclusion that Father must be having funny dreams again. Every so often Father has funny dreams. Usually his dreams happen in the spring around the time of Sarah’s birthday. This is the last week in October, what could be causing them now. She decides not to worry about it.

Sarah’s brothers come home. They have had a brass sectional after school. The three of them set their instruments down next to the piano in the far end of the living room. Ruben plays the french horn, Jared plays the trumpet, and David plays the trombone. Ruben and Jared are both sophomores in high school. They are also identical twins. They both look like Mother. She can tell the two of them apart. So can Father and the rest of the family. Ruben is quiet, but Jared is a little more outgoing. You can tell they are Mother’s sons. They only difference is their hair is not as curly as Mothers. They are both almost as tall as Father. Father says that in a year from now they will be as tall as him. Ruben and Jared also dress a like. They both like to wear tan pants with white, blue,
