This is the continuing fictional story of a group of friends who live in a fictional town on the coast of South Carolina The children have grown a little older in this book and will continue to grow up in other stories. They are Christian children and attend the same schools and some of the same churches. In each book the lead character is a different person than the lead person in any other book.

This adventure is about a pelican that struggles with life for a short time and the children will do or go through whatever it takes to help this bird and matter of fact all the birds and turtles that they can.

Donna J. Crouse was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She lived there until she was eighteen. She is married to Frank Crouse and now lives in King George, Virginia. She has written six books, mostly fictional children books. This, however, is not completely fictional but based on true events. There are several more books to come.

PREFACE

While walking down the beach one day two of the Whispering Cove Kid’s Club members Charlene and Jake find a pelican who is caught in fishing line. Rescue the pelican and stir everyone up about starting a sanctuary for the seabirds and turtles in the area. With help from all the members and quite a few adults as well the Whispering Cove Kids Club is able to raise money by putting on special events during the summer and fending off adversaries from the beginning to the end.

CHAPTER 1

Our First Save

I woke up early this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. I laid there for a while just resting, staring at the ceiling and thinking about what I wanted to do today now that school was out for the summer.

I’m Charlene and I live here in Whispering Cove with my parents my brother’s Jack, Daniel and Palmer. They’re twins, as well as a baby sister Jeanie. Mom is a housewife and mother and a real estate agent who works out of our house. Dad works for the county as the Building Inspector. We live on Crab Street in Whispering Cove. Our house is large, with so many children it has to be. It is a designer home, my father made the plans had it built by a company he knows well. It looks a bit like an island home. My mother is from the Philippians. He wanted her to feel more at home here. The gardens are also designed to look the part. Our swimming pool area looks like a tropical paradise to, it’s all quite lovely.

I belong to the Whispering Cove Kids Club. It’s a club made up of friends who live here. We hold our meetings in an old shed on the back of our property. It’s quite a
