    The Christmas Concert

July 4th, 1998. 9:00 AM. The Thompson’s were having a huge 4th of July Party at Vic & Dotty’s Estate. They invited 100 family and friends to the event, not including the guards and their wives, kids and families. A stage was set up behind Dotty’s & Vic’s estate behind the pool for the kids to perform their musical numbers. Michael however had to choose a different song.

Mrs. Thompson, Dorothy Thompson? The delivery man asked from the phone at the gate.

Yes, are you from Hickory Joe’s meat market?

Yes, I have the meat, where do I bring it?

I’ll tell them to let you in, come to the first Estate on the right. I’ll have the guards meet you at the door. Dotty asked the gate keeper to allow the man in."

Michael, your mom wants you in your black bathing suit with the jacket, wear your flip flops. Ike said as he looked out Michael’s bedroom window at the tent set up for their 4th of July concert.

What are you looking at? Michael asked as he went into the bathroom to put on the black bathing suit.

Awful lot of new faces around here, all these servants. I hope they’re not working for Giovanni. Ike said seriously.

My Dad checked them and their entire family back ten generations. Michael said comically. Michael, Ike, Bobby and Willie were now in the kitchen with all the boxes of meat.

Ma? What do you have a trillion spare ribs? Michael asked stunned as he looked in the boxes. What else are we having besides a trillion spare ribs?

Chicken wings, shrimp, scallops, hot dogs, hamburgers, steak and lobster tails. Dotty replied as she handed a box of wings to Wanda.

No pork and beans? Willie teased.

Aunt Lauren, what are you doing? Bobby asked his eyes widening.

    Marinating the spare ribs honey.

Chet and Jack were sleeping over to be there for the barbecue. They were up in the guest bedroom. Michael, Chet and Jack want to sleep until noon, don’t disturbed them. Dotty said as she unloaded more of the food. The guards took the kids out by the pool. Ike and Willie were already in their bathing suits. They decided to hang out by the pool with the kids. David, Chris, and Antonio were already back there with their day guards. Ronnie and Julia were still sleeping.

Dotty and Lilly were placing tablecloths on the kids barbecue table which was by the pool. Most of the other guest tables were out on the lawn. Dotty wanted the kids and their friends sitting at the same table. Ike honey, I need to talk to you a minute. Dotty said sweetly. Ike got up and went over to Dotty.

What did he do now? Ike asked looking at Michael.

It’s not what he did Ike, you need to go into the Study, Vic wants to talk to you. Dotty said as she gave Ike a stern look. Ike’s stomach dropped. He went into the study. Hey Big Daddy, what’s up? Ike asked as he walked into the study. Vic was working on his computer and held up his finger for Ike to wait a moment. Ike sat down on the couch along side the wall in Vic’s study. The other guards left the study, Ike was now nervous when he saw the other guards leaving the room. Vic turned off his computer and sat back on his chair.

Ike, Michael had a talk with Father Bob, and he came home crying, so naturally Dotty and I wanted to know why, what happen. He said people who lie can’t attain heaven. So he confessed all the lies he ever told. Father Bob said Ike needed to go to confession also. I want to know why Father Bobby would tell Michael you had to go to confession. Vic said rather calmly. Ike’s eyes widen with shock. Was it because of what happen in Vegas? Vic asked as he lit a cigar.

I already confessed that Vic. Ike said his stomach tightening.

Then why do you have to go to confession Ike? Vic asked as he stood up and walked over to the edge of his desk and sat down.

I’ll go talk to Michael; I don’t know what he told Father Bob?

He told him the truth IKE!! About what? Vic asked.

How do I know? Ask Michael. Ike defended.

I did, he said he can’t discuss his confession with anyone!

I’ll talk to Father Bob, I have no idea Vic why Father Bob would say that.

Call him. Vic said handing Ike the phone.

Maybe he’s you know, busy. He’s a priest!

Call him right now! Vic said sternly.

2:30 P.M. The 4th of July party was well underway. The smell of food barbecuing filled the air. Al, Sean and Jake were going through the fireworks to see which one’s they wanted to use. The extra help were doing all the barbecuing so the servants could enjoy the party as well. The Cousins were getting cranky with all the people around them, they decided to take their girlfriends up to Michael’s room.

It’s wall to wall people down there, when is this party over? Antonio said as he flopped on Michael’s king size bed.

Your parents spoil you kids, this room is like a millionaire’s room Betty, Ronnie’s girlfriend said.

Millionaire’s? Try Billionaires Betty. Ronnie said shaking his head. All the girls went silent.

Billionaire’s? This a joke? Katie asked David.

No, it’s true, we’re like real rich. David said seriously.

I though only Arabs were billionaires. Pammy asked sweetly.

Is she the cutest little darling? Sabo said to Alexander.

These kids shouldn’t be in here without a guard, where are the guards? Dotty’s going to get upset if she finds all these girls in Michael’s bedroom. Alexander said as he looked out of Michael’s window.

Ike went to confession, remember? Sabo said as he watched the kids.

I’m so stuffed. I hope those ribs don’t explode in my stomach. They were to good to be true, so you’re really billionaires? Betty asked again.

Really. Ronnie said as he looked out Michael’s window.

Wow, I knew the Thompson’s were rich but not that rich. Pammy said looking at Chris.

12:00 am The Thompson brothers invited everyone out into the Valley road after the kids little concert to watch fire works. The kids were quite excited. Chairs were brought out front so the older guests could sit down. The kids and younger guards sat on the beautiful pristine lawns in front of the Mansions.

Hey Ike, what did Father Bob give you as a penance? Trent asked as he sat next to Ike.

That’s confidential Trent. Ike said comically.

Ten rosaries? Trevor asked looking down at Ike on the lawn.

Trev, will you get out of my way, you’re blocking the fire works. Ike said childlike.

I bet he has to do community service for a few years? Sal teased.

Yeah right! Ike said. I got three rosaries.

That’s not bad; now tell us why you had to confess. Trent asked.

NO! But don’t be surprised if Father Bob pays you all a visit. Ike teased. The young guards all looked at each other. Ike laughed.

Michael, are you a billionaire too or just your folks? Tina asked comically.

Well, not now but after my folks and brothers all die, yeah I will.

Why does everyone have to die first? Tina asked stunned.

Because otherwise I’m only a millionaire, to be a billionaire everyone in my family has to be dead.

That’s horrible, I’d rather have my family then money. Pammy said sweetly.

Awwwwww.. I like her! Sabo said as he kissed Pammy on the head, so did her guardian angel.

So what do your folks have planned for your sweet sixteen party? Betty asked curiously.

They won’t tell us, said it’s a surprised. Michael said staring straight ahead. If it’s another European vacation, I’m running away from home.

Wish my parents would take me on a European vacation, we’re normal, so we can’t enjoy ourselves. Tina said.

Uh oh! Where’s Chet? Alexander said looking around.

No where’s Vic! Sabo said nervously watching Michael. All the cousins were anticipating an emotional outburst from Michael. Cousin Eve walked over just at the right time.

These fireworks are something else. Cousin Eve said as she looked up.

Cousin Eve, Betty, this is Cousin Eve, watch your mouth, she’s very religious. Ronnie said seriously.

I’m glad you’re staying with us for a few days. I love when you come visit us. Bobby said sweetly.

Yeah, she’s the only relative who likes to play games with us. Michael said; his face radiant from his beautiful smile. You’re staying in Gary’s room which is across from mine so we can play Pac Man when everyone goes to bed. Michael said with a giggle.

I love to play games Michael, that’s true, but do you know what I love even more? Cousin Eve said softly.

    What? Michael asked seriously.

Getting to sleep early, it’s already four hours past my bedtime, but I didn’t want to miss the fireworks. Your Dad went all out.

Look at that one; I hope he has a license to do this. Tina asked nervously.

Yeah, see that guy over there. That’s Ike’s brother Chase. He bought the fireworks. He’s a police detective. He got the fireworks for my Dad. Michael said.

Gee, he’s handsome. Pammy said looking at Chris. But you’re more my type, don’t get jealous. The kids all laughed, so did Cousin Eve.

July 18th, 1998 7:15 AM. The phone in Dotty and Vic’s bedroom rang. Dotty answered it wondering who would be calling at time in the morning. The phone awoke Michael and Bobby.

Vic get up. It’s my Aunt Emma; she’s not doing to well. I want to go see her.

Dotty and Vic made all the travel arrangements. They would use their own private jet to get a quick flight to Galveston, Texas. Honey how bad is she? Vic asked after passing the news to his brothers.

We have to make all the arrangements Vic; she got last rites an hour ago. Dotty said as she dressed quickly.

9:00 am. The Thompson’s and Dotty and Vic’s sons and their wives and all their day guards were on the flight to Galveston. Michael and Bobby were very quiet. They never went to a funeral before. So like what do we do? Michael asked his mother after turning around in his seat.

She’s not dead yet Michael, you go say hello, that you’ve missed her.

Ma, that’s lying! I don’t miss her, I hardly know her. Who is she again? Michael asked comically. Ike and Willie had to laugh. Michael was so cute sometimes.

She’s your grandmother’s sister. Dotty answered seriously.

I met her right? Michael asked.

Yes, when you were 8. Vic said as he read the newspaper.

    8? I don’t remember meeting her at 8?

Just smile and be sweet. She’s very sick Michael, turn around and behave yourself today! Dotty said with a raised eye brow.

Ma, I forgot she even existed. Michael said as he sat back in his seat.

Okay tell her that, she probably die in your face. Gary said sarcastically.

Shut up. Ma what if she does die in my face? What happens when a person dies?

Their eyes pop out! Gary teased. Vic got up and pulled Gary out of his seat and pushed him towards the bathroom.

Uh oh, the bathroom beating! Michael said as he watched his Dad escort his brother to the rest room.

"What are you trying to do give your brother a nervous breakdown? This is his first funeral, you say or do anything to scare or upset that kid and we’ll be having a funeral for your butt! Understand?

Yes Sir! Gary answered nervously and with a deep swallow.

Vic and Gary returned to their seats. Everyone remained quiet knowing Vic was now in a bad mood. Both day and night guards were traveling with the Thompson’s.

The plane landed and limo’s arrived to take the Thompson’s to the Ritz-Carlton in Galveston. Vic had doubled up the guards; it was hard to get enough rooms on such short notice.

Dotty’s immediate family, her mother and father, Cousin Eve and her sisters and brother. Louise and Anthony Barrone, Emma’s daughter and Dotty’s sister Betty and her husband Fred Russell, their three son’s James, 35, Steve, 32, and Freddy 28, would visit with Aunt Emma at her home first.

The Limo’s pulled up, Vic looked at Ike. You stay inside the car understand! Vic said after noticing the poor condition Aunt Emma’s house was in. Emma having turned into a recluse after her son died of cancer, locking herself away from family and friends.

Oh my gosh, this place is a dump! Gary said stunned. Why would Aunt Emma let the place get like this? Gary asked his Mother.

I intend to ask your Aunt Betty, she lives here in Galveston. She never told me the place looked like this. Dotty said angrily as she looked out the window.

I’ll stay in the car with Ike. Michael said seriously.

    Me too. Bobby said comically.

Might be a good idea Hon, you stay here, we’ll call you to come in later. Vic said as he got out of the Limo. His brothers got out of the other Limo’s with their guards.

Vic, this can’t be the house? Al asked annoyed.

This is it Al. Vic said with a shrug.

We could get typhoid fever in that place, or worse maggots. Al said nervously. Sean and Jack had to laugh. So did the Angels.

"Piper, the son’s been dammed, they shouldn’t go in there." Denver, Ike’s guardian angel said as he looked at the place.

God is allowing this for a specific reason. We can’t interfere, its God will. Sometimes God has to teach his children through experience. Besides, Eve’s going in with them. They’ll be protected by her angels, they’re very powerful. Piper, Vic’s guardian angel said as he followed Vic into the house.

Honey, calm down, your Aunt is dying, no fighting with your sister now! Vic said as they walked inside the house. Val and Chick followed them in, looking around and then at each other. Gary and his wife Lisa and Gary’s day guard followed his parents in. Bill and Connie and their day guard followed in behind Gary.

Ike, close your eyes, a roach may come running out the place. Michael said comically as he watched everyone entering the house.

Thanks Michael, just what I needed to hear Ike snapped annoyed as he looked at the dirty and run down house.

Don’t look at the house Ike. Look out that window. Bobby said worried Ike would see a roach also.

Dotty was appalled by the filthiness of the house. Vic and his brothers said nothing, neither did their wives so as not to upset Dotty more then she already was.

Dorothy, sweetheart, how are you?! How are the boys? Aunt Emma said from her sick bed. She could barely speak.

They’re all here to see you Aunt Emma. This is Gary and Bill and their wives. Dotty said as Bill and Gary walked into the rather small dirty bedroom. Their wives follow in behind. Gary gave his Aunt a nervous smile as he looked around.

This is little Gary? He’s grown into such a handsome young man. And Bill, you’re so big, like your Father. Vic, take care of them dear.!"

Yes Aunt Emma, I will always take care of them. My young sons are outside, I’ll get them. Vic said sweetly. He sent Chick out to get the boys. The Brothers were afraid to sit down on the furniture, so were their wives.

I got ticks! Al said as he began to scratch himself. I have to get out of here Jake!

Go in with Rose and say hello, can’t come and just leave, you’ll offend Dotty. Jake said softly. Al and Rose went in to speak a few moments with Aunt Emma. He came out quickly and hurried out of the house scratching his head. Michael and Bobby were walking towards the house when they saw their Uncle Al come out scratching his head. Michael turned and went to walk back to the car. Chick turned him around and pointed to the house.

My stomach hurts! Michael said nervously.

Get in there Michael! Chick said sternly.

What if I get fleas? Michael said truly afraid to enter the dirty house.

Eve and Dotty were now in with Aunt Emma. Eve dear, how are your sisters and brother?

They’re outside in the parlor Aunt Emma; I’ll have them come in in a moment. Would you like to come and live with me Aunt Emma? I can help you. Eve said as she grabbed her Aunt’s hand.

No, my son won’t let me go. You mustn’t tell him you want me to leave, he will become very angry. He told me I had to stay here with him. I can’t leave my son. Emma said barely audible. Eve looked at Dotty, not wanting to tell her Aunt her son had died 8 years earlier. Michael and Bobby came into the room. Michael grabbed his mother’s hand. Bobby grabbed Eve’s hand. They were on the verge of tears when they saw Aunt Emma in such a dirty room.

Are these the little ones? How beautiful they are Dorothy. How beautiful! Michael and Bobby smiled at her. You be good boys, you have good parents. Love them, be good boys. Aunt Emma said as she breathed her last, closing her eyes. Vic and Dotty gasped as they quickly grabbed the boys and ushered them out of the room.

She died in our face! Like Gary said. I didn’t say anything Mom it’s not my fault! Michael began to cry. Bobby ran to the Limo.

That bad huh? Ike asked as Bobby ran and sat beside him on the seat.

She died in our face! Bobby said as he started to cry. Ike’s eyes widen with shock.

Michael ran into the Limo with Willie right behind him. Ike grabbed Michael and held him tight. Michael was hysterical. Willie went to Bobby and sat hugging him.

Hey Babe, c’mon. Calm down. She was a very old and sick lady. It was her time to go. Willie said compassionately.

In front of our faces? What if my Mom and Dad die in front of my face, I won’t want to live anymore. Michael sobbed. Ike was tearing. He felt so bad for Michael. He began to think about his own parents dying in front of him.

This was God’s plan? Sabo asked the other angels as he watched Michael cry. They all nodded yes.

Dotty, we have to get everyone out of this house, quickly! Eve said as she escorted Gary and Lisa out the front door.

Why didn’t you tell me she lived like this? Dotty scolded her relatives.

"She was insane Dotty, she said her son was still alive, in his bedroom, that he wouldn’t let anyone come here or allow her to leave. She lost it after he died. We wanted to bring people in to clean and take care of her, she forbid us, said her son would kill who ever she allowed in the house.

So you should have committed her, gotten her some kind of help! Vic chided sternly.

Where’s my motherrrrrr!!!! Aunt Emma’s son screamed with a horrible voice. It was heard outside and from inside the Limo’s.

What the hell was that? Sean asked as he pushed Lauren into their Limo.

Rose, get in the limo, don’t come out ever!!! Rats are probably eating them alive. Al said comically.

Willie and Ike locked glances. Michael and Bobby sat up and looked out the window as his family came running out of the house screaming. Eve called Vic back into the house. He obeyed.

You have to get Emma out of the house. Eve said unafraid. Vic obeyed. He went and lifted the dead woman in his arms. Chick was stunned to see Vic carrying the dead woman. Dotty called an ambulance which appeared quickly out of no where. The body was laid in the back of the ambulance. Chase was with the Thompson’s, worried about Ike. He explained it to the police when they arrived. Dotty and her sister were crying, so were Dotty’s parents. Bill, Gary, Michael and Bobby huddled around their Mother. Ike stayed with Vic and his brother Chase. Willie stayed with Dotty and Val and the kids.

What if that ghost screams out with the cops here? They’ll put this in the newspaper; we’ll be the laughing stock of Houston! The Thompson’s haunted cousin wants his Motherrrrr. Al said comically as he wiped his brow. I’m hot!! Put the air-condition on! What happen to the air in this limo? Al chided.

The ambulance and Galveston police left. Everyone was headed back to the Limo’s.

As they approached the limo’s the ghost Charlie screamed out again for all to hear.

Where is my motherrrr!!! The guards took out their guns, they were frightened.

What ’a doing, can’t shoot a ghost! Vic said shaking his head.

GHOST? Michael, Bobby, Ike and Willie all hollered out in fear together.

What did he say? Al asked his eyes widening with shock as he hurried up to his big brother. So you admit it’s the voice of a ghost? Al asked trying to remain calm,

What! Are you serious? Jake asked nervously

You believe in ghosts? Jack laughed.

Eve walked over to the brothers. Demon, not ghosts. Demons or otherwise known as unclean spirits, familiar spirits. You’ll have to tear down this house Vic, so you might want to get whatever personal belongings she may have had. I’ll go with you inside; they won’t do anything if I’m in there, c’mon. Eve escorted Dotty, Vic, Betty and her husband, Emma’s daughter Louise and her husband Anthony Barrone, to gather Aunt Emma’s belongings.

Dotty, touch and take nothing from this house understand? Vic said softly. Dotty nodded in agreement.

They retrieved whatever belongings and important papers they needed and left quickly. As they left the house the ghost hollered out again. I want my motherrrrr! The woman screamed and ran into the Limo’s. Vic and his brother in law looked at each other.

Let’s get the hell outta of here. Vic said as he quickly got into his Limo. Dotty was crying. Michael and Bobby went and sat on either side of their Mother.

We have angels Mom remember, they’ll protect us! Michael said sweetly.

Awwwwwww! Is he the cutest thing? Sabo said as he kissed Michael on the head.

That demon will try to hurt this family, we have to be ready, it saw Vic carrying Emma out of the house. It will blame Vic for taking her away. Piper said as he looked at Vic.

The Thompson’s arrive back at the Valley. Bobby and Michael were going to bunk together. They wanted Chet and Jack awake in their room. Ike and Willie were home telling their wives the events of the day.

Ghost? Sandra said her eyes widening with shock.

Yeah, screaming at the top of it’s lungs, if it has lungs. I want my motherrrrrrr.. Scariest thing I ever saw. Even Chase was scared. I’ll never go near those people again. Someone else in Dotty’s family dies. I take the day off. Ike said comically.

I thought when a person dies they go to heaven or purgatory or hell, how come he’s still there yelling for his mother? Sandra asked curiously.

I don’t want to talk about it any more. I’m sick enough as it is. Keep a pitcher of cold water near the bed.

Why? You thirsty? Sandra asked confused.

No, to throw in my face when I start screaming Charlie is after me. Wake me up immediately! Ike said pointing his finger at his wife. People can die from fright in their dreams you know. Maybe I should stay awake.

Forever? Go to bed. I hope I don’t have a nightmare, I’ll get two pitchers of water just in case. Sandra said seriously as she went to the kitchen. Their angels had to laugh.

Ten bucks he has a nightmare. Denver, Ike’s angel said with his arms crossed over his chest.

Where you getting the money? Be Jamie, Sandra’s guardian asked.

Oh yeah, forgot. Denver said comically.

Dotty came into Michael’s room with some hot coco for the boys and their night guards.

Some nice hot coco for you guys. Dotty said as she laid the tray on Michael’s dresser.

It’s drugged; you’re not doping me up Mom. I’ll sleep on my own. Michael said as he got under the covers.

It’s the coco or a shot, you decide. Dotty said sternly.

You’re not sedating us? Jack asked comically.

No, these two are for you and Chet, you two get over here and drink this or I use this. Dotty said taking a needle from her apron pocket. The boys drank their hot coco.

Al will you come to bed please? Rose said noticing Al was taking a long time in the bathroom. He turned off the bedroom light, then the bathroom light and got into bed. Night sweetheart, oh dear! Al, I smell garlic! Rose quickly turned on the lamp next to her bed. Al had a string of garlic around his neck with a Crucifix, a huge Saint Benedict medal and a small bottle of holy water on a string. Are you insane? Rose asked annoyed Where’s your faith?

In all these things, that’s where. Eve said it was a demon; we have to protect ourselves Rose. Want some garlic?

Al, garlic is to ward off werewolves not demons.

They’re both the same things. Al said comically.

Take the garlic off, you want to leave the rest on fine, but the garlic has to go Al. Rose said angrily.

Okay fine! I wake up with bite marks in my neck, I’ll sue you. Al said seriously. Rose laughed, so did their angels.

Ike was walking around his bedroom throwing holy water everywhere. Sandra returned with the two pitchers of water when she saw Ike with the holy water bottle. Don’t use it all, I need to bless me too.

Get Pinky, we’ll bless her too. Demon’s can get into animals, remember the Amityville Horror, It got into the dog? Ike said as he went looking for the cat. Ike suddenly realized Aunt Emma had a cat. He quickly ran to the phone to call Vic.

Hello, hi Babe. Vic said as he played cards with Ben and Craig. Vic’s eyes suddenly widen. Craig and Ben looked at each other hoping another relative hadn’t died. Jack took the cat! Vic said as he dropped the phone and ran to the front door. Ben and Craig followed as Vic ran over to Jack and Marie’s house. Vic had keys to all the mansions, he let himself in.

Jack! Jack!! Vic hollered as he looked around for the cat. Jack came running out of the study with Trent Lockman, Barry Rice and Frank Bellows, their night guards.
