About this ebook

This is a collection of my original Christmas-themed writings, Christmas songs, Christmas cards, and Christmas-themed poetry that I have created over the years.

I started out with simple notes that I enclosed in commercial Christmas cards to my closest friends. Eventually, it evolved over the years into self-designed cards, which became very popular. The cards were printed in such a way so as to produce a Christmas card after two successive folds of the paper. For the most part, there was usually a picture or graphic on the front and my song or poem in the middle with a blessing.

David Alan Hoag

In the Hurricane’s Wake… David Alan Hoag has been creating original poetry for more than 45 years. As you experience his poetry that spans many different genres, you will find yourself experiencing every emotion but one… you’ll never find yourself bored as you sift through the offerings of a unique and gifted poet. An unapologetic follower of Christ, several of Mr. Hoag’s poems reflect his beliefs and his faith. His poetry, however, is as multidimensional as the man, so you’ll experience everything from the sacred to the sublime. Again and again, you’ll find yourself turning to the pages of this book for humor, unique perspectives, encouragement, and inspiration. Whether employed as a senior software engineer, performing as a professional magician, serving at his church, or just hanging out, David Alan Hoag infuses poetry into every aspect of life. He definitely doesn’t live up to the typical expectation of a boring technical geek. Besides being a poet, he writes a Christian blog (Alive in The Spirit), has been a performing member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood, a sculptor of mobile art, geocacher, MMORPG player, and business owner. Dave lives in Orange County, California where his wife, daughters, and grandchildren are a constant source of joy and blessings.

    Introduction

This is a collection of my original Christmas-themed writings, Christmas songs, Christmas cards, and Christmas-themed poetry that I have created over the years.

I started out with simple notes which I enclosed in commercial Christmas cards to my closest friends. Eventually, it evolved over the years into self-designed cards which became very popular. The cards were printed in such a way so as to produce a Christmas card after two successive folds of the paper. For the most part, there was usually a picture or graphic on the front, and my song or poem in the middle with a blessing. At the back, I place my custom identifier to indicate authorship and year of publication (see example on next page).

Within the pages of this book, the graphic will be displayed, followed by the inside material. The graphic or picture usually has something to do with the inside material … usually. Many of the pictures and graphics used on the original cards came from tools or software for which I can no longer prove ownership, so the Christmas cards’ images depicted in this book are similar images that exist within the public domain.
