    CHAIN

    A Story

    By: John Omar Larnell Adams

We start our story in Juneau, Alaska where a warehouse is being used on the outskirts of town to make weapons to be sold throughout the continent of North America. A tall Caucasian man stands with a clipboard for marking off tasks to be done by the kids working at the warehouse making the weapons. One child who is very exhausted from working three days without sleep and very little to eat says, Sir, please let me get some rest this is too much for me. I am working hard and I get no sleep. He then asks the tall man, Please can I rest now sir? The tall man smiles and says, Yes my boy you can get some sleep forever! The tall Caucasian man pulls out a .44 Handgun and shoots the boy in the head. The other children are so shaken up they pee on themselves. Why did you kill him? They all ask the tall man. He answers, No questions dumb asses, just keep working or you all get the same. As this begins the story, we will travel now.

In Washington, D.C. a Justice Department Agent for the F.B.I., an American of African descent, whose name is Bergamot Rays. He works in the Child Negligence Department, sits in a meeting with a F.B.I. Agent a man of European descent who is an American named John Jefferson who also works in the same department as Bergamont. The two introduce themselves to each other first starting by introducing themselves with hellos and telling each other their names and shake hands.

The two wonder what the meeting is going to be about. Their boss walks in Joseph Braden is his name; he explains to the two they will go undercover, in Anchorage, Alaska with two N.Y.C. detectives named Natasha Tiger’ and Xing Chow to investigate Abraham Isaacs a multi-billionaire oil mogul who along with his wife Sandra Isaacs and the two of them are using children to make black market guns which have ended up on N.Y.C. Streets in the hands of teenagers and other criminals. He has a typical family.

His family is consisting of a wife and two children and a Great Dane. Here you two agents go, says Joe Braden and he hands them separate files on the Isaacs.

The file shows in great length detailing everything their height, weight, color of hair, hobbies and race.

The two walk out of the room and receive the plane tickets to Anchorage International Airport, also receiving two pictures of the detectives’ one of Natasha a Caucasian with brown eyes and a brunette,

Xing is an American of Chinese descent with brown eyes and black hair.

John says, I think they’re quite hot don’t you think Bergy?

Bergamont says, I agree with you fully! So I’ll meet you at Reagan National Airport? Bergamont continues, we will hopefully be there tomorrow John? John says, Yeah tomorrow then. The two walk back to their desks to finish up reports on their last cases after solving them.

We shift to New York City where Natasha Tiger and Xing Chow who are the two detectives Bergamont and John will work with as they sit down at their desks filling out paperwork from their last case on stolen guns.

Before typing their last sentence on their paperwork their boss Chief James Ropeli calls them into his office for their next assignment, the two look at each other with puzzled looks it is because their Chief promised the two long vacations.

Like the last time, after the two walk into his office and aren’t too happy about being called back into his office.

The two are very surprised to see the file in his hand. The two detectives have had Ropeli as their top superior officer and he has been their high ranking superior for 6 years. He chastises the two detectives for their last case because of more than a couple of people were injured or wounded while the two detectives had chased after their suspects. To support their case Natasha says Let us explain our actions! She continues, Chief Ropeli here’s how it is. Right Natasha tell him, says Xing. We go to a flashback where the two detectives are chasing criminals through the street. Also they are chasing after one of the suspects, Natasha with her gun drawn and people slowly moving or standing in the way to see what’s going on; she says to the criminal, Stop you’re under arrest!

The criminal turns to shoot and hits a person in the leg. The injured bystander after being hit by the bullet says, Ow damn it this hurts! Xing who was chasing the other criminal with her gun drawn as well says If you stop now the charges will not be as high against you. After a few minutes the robbers find themselves on a building’s rooftop, the two female detectives arrive and the suspects shoot at them; somehow or another as the two dodge the bullets. By turning and ducking the shots. Aiming and shooting at the suspects in their knees. The two suspects yell, You damn bitches! Why did you shoot us in the knees? Separately the two detectives speak to the two suspects. Natasha asks, What are you two men’s first names? So we can read you your rights. The two reply while in deep pain. The one on the left writhing in pain says, Oliver is my name. The one on the right grabbing his knees says Leland is my name. Xing says, Well Natasha lets arrest them and call it a job done. She continues, "Leland you have the right to remain silent; anything you say can be used against you in a court of law, also you have the right to an attorney. If you can’t afford one, then that attorney will be picked for you. Natasha repeats the arresting mantra.

Natasha tries to explain the actions of their case, chief, she says: The bystanders were in the way and would not move so seeing by these suspects were injuring or wounding bystanders. Xing adds: See it wasn’t our fault it was the two suspects fault. Chief Ropeli says: You’ve convinced me. ‘’So for you all not wounding the bystanders, you both get to start working on a new case with two federal agents from D.C. He hands the two different sets of pictures of John and Bergamont. He explains to the two detectives that the man they are after is named Abraham Isaacs and his wife Sandra Isaacs because they are suspected of being the top heads of a criminal organization using children in a warehouse in Juneau, Alaska; in order to make weapons, which end up in N.Y.C. and are used by criminals on New York City’s streets and possibly elsewhere.

The two detectives look at each other and look at their boss and ask: When do we both leave? You both leave tomorrow! Ropeli answers. He hands the two plane tickets.

Good luck you two! Also please don’t have innocent bystanders be hurt.

Thank you sir, the two detectives answer. The two detectives walk back to their desks to finish their Paperwork and get ready to go home and tell their families they have another big case. Chief Ropeli stops them and waves goodbye to the two detectives.

As we move back to Washington, D.C. Bergamont arrives at his home in the Georgetown area of D.C. He parks his car a C Class Mercedes Benz car in the driveway. His children Delorenzo and Tabia greet him at the Door. Alexis Rays follows not too far behind them and asks Bergamont:

Bergy what is this new important case you were telling me about over the phone? Bergamont holds Tabia while walking and holding Delorenzo’s hand.

Bergamont stands and explains to Alexis about the case in Alaska and the catch that goes along with the case. Alexis shocked at the new development asks, You have to go to Alaska and pose as some cop’s husband just to catch an oil mogul?

That’s insanity! Alexis says Well… Bergamont answers, "Doing things and making sacrifices to help the case.

It goes with the job honey. Alexi’s answers, I guess, I will just have to accept it. Just I want no funny business with this woman okay Bergy! Smiling Bergamont answers, Yes dear no funny business." The family walks into their one story home and has a dinner, which consists of pot roast, potatoes, carrots, green beans and sweet tea. Afterwards Bergamont finishes early and goes upstairs to pack his luggage for a month.

As we go around to two or three blocks we see John Jefferson gets out of his Chevy Tahoe he and his family live in Georgetown also. His wife comes out of their house he calls her Jenae’, even though her name is Jennifer. The pair’s two children come outside as well to greet their father, the children named John Jr. and Eliza run at their Father to hug him.

He hugs them both and lets them go. He kisses his wife very affectionately on the lips.

He begins to tell her about the case he is on to next which is in Anchorage, Alaska where he must pose as a N.Y.C. Detective’s husband to catch an oil mogul.

She asks, Why do you have to play like you are a detective’s husband to arrest an oil mogul? He answers, To keep children safe and to go back to their families from a sick and twisted mind.

Please calm down Jennifer, John says. I’m very calm, says Jennifer. The family walks into their home and has dinner consisting of Hamburgers and French Fries.

John finishes eating quickly and goes upstairs to the main bedroom to pack clothes for a month.

As we shift gears and go To New York City, Natasha Tiger arrives at her home in Brooklyn.

She gets out of her car which Purple Chrysler Intrepid and is greeted by her children Pierre and Beta.

The two say,’’ Hi Mommy!’’ Natasha smiles and says Hello my two babies! As she says this, her husband Remy drives and pulls up into the driveway in a Buick Regal. He turns off the engine, pulls the keys out of the ignition, opens the door and steps out and says :Hello Honey! Natasha answers back Hello baby! Remy continues and asks Natasha, So what is so important I had to leave work? Natasha begins to explain to Remy that a new case has developed a twist along with the case. So what is it?"

Just what is this twist in your new case might I ask, asks Remy. Natasha starts and begins by saying, "The twist is that I have to go to Anchorage, Alaska and pose as a federal agent’s wife and also posing as an oil rig Employee’s wife, Natasha explains. So what, Remy answers. It is your job to protect people no matter the cost, Remy says to Natasha.

He leans over to whisper in Natasha’s ear and whispers I am sorry, I sounded like I don’t care about you leaving but I do. Who else can be a good wife and lover like you, asks Remy. Good answer. Natasha says. She continues, I was going to ask you what the fuck is it that you mean so what? Keep showing a mean side and that could land you on the couch. On the other hand your sensitivity could land you a whole lot of loving. Keep that in mind when I come back," says Natasha.

I will, says Remy. I brought some good food home from a pizzeria and a Couple of pizzas, Remy says. You are the best Dad in the whole wide World, says Pierre. The family goes in the house and eats the pizzas and after finishing eating Natasha goes upstairs and packs her clothes for her trip and for the case in Alaska.

Xing walks toward her house after getting out of a Mercury Grand Marquis car into her home also in Brooklyn she meets and greets her family consisting of her husband Steve Chow, her son Lee Chow and her daughter Zhang Chow. She tells her husband that she has a new case, which involves her posing as someone else’s wife?

Steve asks, Why do you have to pose as someone else’s wife to catch an evil oil mogul? She Answers, Steve it is my job and I have to follow what my boss says and sometimes you have to take risks! Steve with more an understanding looks Says, All right just don’t come back late. I won’t," Xing says. The Family goes in for dinner, which consists of Steak, pasta, garlic bread; and salad. After finishing her dinner Xing goes upstairs to pack enough clothes for this Trip. As the day becomes yesterday and tomorrow becomes today.

We shift again this time at Reagan National Airport (DCA) Bergamont and John go through Ticketing and post 9/11/2001 security checks and receives their carry on Bags and go through to the flight gate and wait for their plane to start Boarding in 10 min. Mainly because their wives were a little late dropping them off at the airport.

John starts up a conversation with Bergamont and asks, Hey Bergy, did your wife chew you out as much as mine did for this case?

Bergamont answers, Oh I did she was starting to get a little bit pissed off. So I felt embarrassed in front of my kids at first but she got over it. John says in response, I thought she would rip me a new one for leaving so abruptly."

Both at the same time say, Women you love them but can’t live without them! The two laugh for the remainder of the five minutes and others who are boarding planes wonder; What the hell is wrong with those two laughing for so long for?

The two men stop laughing as their plane’s destination is announced over the loud speaker and board their plane.

At Kennedy Airport (JFK) Xing and Natasha goes through ticketing outside and takes their carry on bags upstairs to their flight gate but first have to go through post 9/11/2001 security Checks.

After the security checks they reach there flight gate that is from Delta Airlines.

Xing begins to ask Natasha a question on whether her husband was all shit kicking about her leaving for Alaska? Natasha responds, Yeah the bastard kept trying to act all mad but he really did care I was leaving though. Steve acted that way saying, Xing; mocks his voice by saying, Don’t come back late!"

Both laugh at the mock voice and laugh for a minute or two. The duo stops then overhears on the Loudspeaker for 1st class passengers to board first. After getting up with their carry-on luggage the two detectives go near the gate. After hearing the first call for boarding and after that the two ladies hear the flight attendant say, "Boarding for Anchorage International Airport in 20 sec. I’ll need those in 1st class first."

The look at their tickets and See they are in 1st class and board their plane to Anchorage.

Hours later at Anchorage International Airport in baggage claim the two duos meet for the first time. The duos introduce themselves to one another saying hello, hugging each other and lastly grabbing their luggage from the conveyor belts.

The two federal agents Bergamont and John gesture to the ladies to come follow them.

They then see two vehicles one a SUV made by Chevrolet, the other a hybrid vehicle that is a cross of an SUV with a Minivan made by Ford. Both gentlemen say, Ladies get in. As Xing gets in the SUV with Bergamont he tells her the new names chosen for the two of them are Jerome and Linda Binet’. John drives the hybrid SUV-Minivan. He explains to Natasha their new names are James and Viola Banks.

The new couples drive to their new homes adjacent to each other. The two men say, Let’s go into each others houses.

The couples go into each other’s homes, and go back outside to their vehicles, Natasha and Xing ask, Is this all Paid for by the government?

John and Bergamont answer, Yes houses, cars and weapons all paid for by the United States government! Natasha adds,

This will add to the national debt. Xing adds, I hope not they tax us too much already on that trillion dollar debt.

Bergamont adds, Yeah that is expensive isn’t it? The group laughs at that Notion. They then pile into the two vehicles the Chevy Tahoe SUV and the Ford hybrid SUV/Minivan. Bergamont explains to Xing as John explains to Natasha that each couple must apply for work at Abraham Isaacs’s two businesses, which are an oil refinery and a day care center.

The two women are separately handed each a set of phony identification and phony resumes to show their new identities handed to them by both John and Bergamont. As Bergamont drops Xing off at the day care Center as does John for Natasha. They two men wave goodbye to each of the women and then the two drive off to the oil refinery.

Natasha looks at Xing, as Xing looks back at Natasha and ask each other if either one is ready? Both say yes and walk through the door separately. The two women are greeted by Sandra Isaacs and she asks, Can I help you two ladies? Yes madam you can! They each speak separately and say to Sandra Isaacs, Hello and good afternoon Mrs. Isaacs! Now separately each say a statement after the first speaking is finished Natasha speaks first saying, I am Viola Banks. Xing speaks secondly stating, I am Linda Binet’. The two ladies answer, both women say We are here for and want to apply for the Child Development Supervisor positions. Really says,

Sandra, she continues, You two are in luck those positions are open! Do you two have certification and resumes? asks, Sandra. If so, follow me to my office please, asks Sandra. Both state separately again, Yes we do have our certification and resumes Madam! "Good, please follow me to my office, says Sandra Isaacs. The two women follow Sandra, still in their casual clothes and go sit in the office and hand her their certification, their Resumes’ social security cards and their Drivers Licenses.

These resumes are fantastic ladies! says, Sandra. Thank You Mrs. Isaacs! says, the two ladies.

You are both hired! says, Sandra. Can you both start tomorrow? Sandra continues I will show you two where you two will be working in the daycare center and learn where things are put and done etc.

Yes, Mrs. Isaacs we can start tomorrow! The two women state as they pick up their cellular phones to call Bergamont and John to pick them up from the daycare center. The two men answer the calls and each says the same thing "We are on our way to pick you up and we will explain every detail about the oil refinery and on Abraham Isaacs. As Xing and Natasha hang up their cell phones. Sandra waves goodbye to the two women as they go wait for their new husbands. The Ford hybrid Minivan/SUV pulls up with John behind the wheel to pick up Natasha. Bergamont comes up behind the SUV by Chevy to pick up Xing.

As the two vehicles drive on John explains to Natasha, Abraham is a real nice guy; Bergamont and me think he isn’t really the culprit behind these crimes. John, Natasha says; you can say that but you are not explaining everything at the oil rig. I was talking off the subject a little wasn’t I, asks John. Anyway, he continues the oil refinery was a decent place, the supervisor John Andrews showed us around showing where they dig, the employees and the break room and where to pick up our work uniforms. Bergamont explains the same story to Xing with other things to add such as: Andrews told us $25 an hour is our pay.

When we finally were introduced to Abraham Isaacs he had us both in the Interview inside his office he said, Hello my name is Abraham Isaacs you had called a week before last to set up this interview correct? Yes, John and I answered. We were hearing that you had openings for this job as oil refinery workers. Abraham explained that there are benefits along with the job besides 401K, dental and health plans, family care and that’s it. With looks of wonder both women ask the men separately, What else happened?

Both men answer the same way, we were asked to start tomorrow because we have the jobs. Really the same thing happened to us in our interview with Sandra Isaacs. She said we could start tomorrow also. John and Bergamont answer exactly alike again and say, looks like we might have a longer time in cracking this case. The two women in the two vehicles nod in agreement. After arriving in their homes they wave goodbye to each other and go into their homes change in their pajamas and get in their beds and fall asleep.

In the morning John drops off Natasha as Bergamont drops off Xing at the Isaacs Daycare Center. After weeks of working day in and day out getting in the routine of oil refinery work and daycare work and receiving paychecks.

The couples venture out around Anchorage going to the local bars on Fridays to get any rumors/information on Abraham and Sandra Isaacs at first it seems difficult to pry anything out of the buzzing or intoxicated patrons of the bars. Very little information comes from the bar hoppers in Anchorage, some just say they are a typical loving Mother/Father to their two Children Abraham Jr. and Cassandra. He donates large amounts of money to different things like fixing up old historic homes etc. The rumors are a bit off but it does bring the 4 law enforcers back to their original task of bringing down Sandra and Abraham Isaacs. The main two rumors each law enforcer hears are that Isaacs uses a warehouse near Juneau, Alaska to make weapons. Another rumor is that he uses Runaway, Abused, or neglected children to make these weapons or if he believes their work is unsatisfactory he kills them. John and Xing pick up on the first rumor and Bergamont picks up on the second. Natasha picks up on a last rumor that Sandra picks out the children to work in the warehouse. After hearing these horrible things John and Bergamont decide to go fishing at a lake about 20 minutes away from Anchorage.

They ask Xing and Natasha would they like to go. It is a good excuse to get away from it all what do you to say to this trip? The two women agree to this and the couples pile into the Chevy Tahoe SUV and drive off in this vehicle to this lake 20 min. away from Anchorage. As they go on the highway Xing notices someone is following them by looking in the rear-view mirror, she whispers what she sees to Bergamont, who whispers to Natasha who whispers to John, who speeds the Chevy Tahoe up as does the pursuing car. The Chevy Tahoe makes it to the lake as the pursuing car stopped half a mile before the lake. As the four law enforcers get out of their vehicle John and Bergamont pull rectangular boxes from their down jackets. As does Xing and Natasha. The four open their boxes revealing their real Driver’s Licenses and handguns with their ammunition also along with their badges. They each stick the items into their coat pockets. As they touch the ground Xing and Natasha pull out Jigsaws to cut holes in the ice so they can each fish.

After an hour of ice fishing they notice a polar bear gnawing on something.

All of them curious to see what he is eating because they have all seen polar bears in zoos but not in the wild so this might just be interesting to see it eat something without the supervision of tamer. They each put their fishing rods down and walk in the direction of the bear. They see the polar bear gnawing on a dead and frozen boy’s stomach and sure enough the boy is dead obviously but something isn’t right they all notice something peculiar before someone left the body in this cold area someone shot the child in the head. Bergamont pulls a fish from his bucket and throws it in the direction of the polar bear. The bear stops gnawing on the kid’s stomach and goes for the fish because of the fish’s aroma. After the bear moves toward the fish the group sees the boy was mainly eaten around the stomach area. The sight of the boy’s gnawed up stomach makes each of the law enforcers’ vomit. Xing grabs her cell phone and calls Anchorage Police. They arrive and ask questions as soon as the police arrived at the lake the pursuing car drives off.

One day at the oil rig both John and Bergamont are called into the office of Abraham Isaacs and he asks the two workers to come over for dinner and meet his family. How does that sound to you James Banks? asks, Abraham. Good, John answers posing as James. How does dinner sound to you Jerome Binet’?

Abraham asks. It sounds excellent to me Mr. Isaacs, says Bergamont posing as Jerome. Abraham then asks Jerome: Can you ask James to bring his wife also? Yes Mr. Isaacs I will say, Jerome. Good, Says Abraham. He adds bring your wife as well Jerome. See you at 7:00 p.m.! Finishing his statement says Isaacs. Yes see you then sir, says Jerome. Before leaving, Isaacs tells Jerome the directions to his home. After walking out of the office Jerome really as Bergamont says to John posing as James Banks, "James we are going to go to the Isaacs home to eat dinner with them and bring our wives.

At both homes simultaneously Jerome and Linda Binet’ before getting into their proper clothes both take semi-long 25 minute showers. After putting lotion on, and each putting on their underwear and lotion, then shirts to keep the deodorant from showing on their clothes; and lastly deodorant on get in casual wear to get ready for the dinner at Isaacs’ home. Both James and Viola Banks take one semi-long 25 minute showers, put on lotion, and underwear and lastly t-shirts for the deodorant and place deodorant on themselves. Afterwards get in their casual wear to go to the dinner at Isaacs home also. After getting in their vehicles both couples get sit in their respective vehicles and drive off in the direction of the Isaacs home in the suburbs of Anchorage, Alaska.

After arriving at Isaacs home they are greeted by a maid. Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Banks and Mr. and Mrs. Binet’, says the maid. She continues and says my name is Rosland, here let me lead you four thru the home. Let me take your coats. After taking their coats and hanging them up. She leads the quartet into the dining room and the group hears Abraham and Sandra Isaacs say Welcome to our home! Here are our children Abraham Jr. and Sandra II. The two proud parents say to their kids, Say hello children, says Sandra and Abraham.

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Banks! Hello Mr. and Mrs. Binet! Abraham Jr. and Sandra II say simultaneously. Nice to meet you, says the quartet. Nice to meet you also says, the children. Good Let Us Eat Up! says, Abraham. The cooks have prepared Turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes; green beans, rolls and sweet tea. "This is awesome food Mr. Isaacs, says James. Yes it is, says Jerome.

I am enjoying this food also, says Viola. You all are on the money when it comes to this food, says Linda. Good, says Sandra. Now tell us more about your selves, asks Abraham Well to begin, says Jerome, as it states on my resume’ my wife Linda and I are from Atlanta. We met in college or the University of Georgia. We began dating for the four years in the University. So one thing led to another and I waited and saved up for a ring which took 24 months all together. We waited for those two years. I proposed so we decided to get married. This was over a year ago. So here we are working for the two of you says Jerome. Yes adds Linda, meeting Jerome was the best thing to happen in my life.

In the last year we have talked about having a child. We have also talked on saving for the child or children’s education and our retirement funds.

Your turn James, says Sandra. Yes well are story is almost as similar. I met Viola at Columbia University in New York. Also we spent our four years together dating in college and then just were inseparable. Over a year like these two (pointing at Jerome and Linda) we were married in front of our families and friends at a small service in Long Island. We wanted to move to quieter location and Anchorage, Alaska was the perfect place. That’s right honey as Viola kisses him on the cheek. Just then Linda holds Jerome’s hand tightly.
