They Came from Harlem - Chris Bryant

    Chapter 1

Five years earlier, Melrah met Hec on Rikers Island during a four day stay for a possession charge. Hec had an out of town swagger with him and it was obvious. It didn’t take long for the wolves to recognize and quickly step up to him for his chain and his fresh pair of kicks. Melrah was at the other end of the bullpen. He quickly caught on to what was going down. As he made his way across the bullpen towards what was happening, he said to the wolves, You’ll got to be easy son, this is my dude, and he’s with me! Melrah’s presence demanded respect, so they respected what he said and fell back. Melrah and Hector sat down and kicked it, got better acquainted with each other. Hec humbly said thanks and expressed his gratitude to Melrah for getting him out of that situation. He knew that things could’ve gotten real nasty for him in the pen. Twenty minutes later, the officer called Hec and told him that his bail had been posted; he was free to go. Hec gave Melrah his number and told him to contact him once he got out.

Two days later, Melrah goes to court and gets bailed out on $7,500.00. As he leaves the courthouse, he wonders who had posted his bail to get him out. He hears a horn beeping at him. As he looks, he sees the tinted window roll down on the black S550 Benz sitting on chrome. Yo dick, what’s popping? Get in, let’s be out! He smiles as he realized the driver of that hot car is his longtime friend, Manic. As they got back uptown Harlem, Manic drove up to Sugar hill, 145 St. Nick Ave. to Pasties Bar. They were greeted by quite a few people screaming, Welcome home at a surprise party for Melrah. Every don and diva from all five boroughs was there popping bottles of the most expensive champagne. They also were smoking on the best weed in the city. After being hugged and kissed, as well as shaking hands. Melrah thought of Puerto Rican Hec, his Connecticut connect that he met on Rikers Island. He called him and told him about the welcome home party. Within an hour, Hec showed up in a silver 2009 Escalade, sitting on 26" drop star chrome rims and with one of the prettiest Puerto Rican girls on the planet. Hec was introduced to a few people. After about an hour of kicking it up in the VIP booth, Hec, Melrah and Marisol broke out and jumped in the Escalade to get something to eat at One Fish Two Fish down on 95th Street and Madison on the East side. They engaged in a conversation about getting money and Melrah told Hec that he had a team that he gets paper with, but for the last three weeks he was out of coke since the cops raided the four spots he had in Harlem and Brooklyn; as well as Statin Island. Hec told Melrah that he was in kind of the same spot, but on the contrary. He had tons of cocaine, but his crew wasn’t loyal. For the past six months, money kept coming up missing. Work also started to come up missing as well. He had Lieutenants that ran spots in Connecticut on Oak Street, Arch Street, Cobin Heights and of course the P.H.P. projects that was supposed to be getting raided every two months or so. Then he came to find out that his own so called crew had been robbing him blind for quite a long time. He was making so much money that it didn’t matter to him how much was being stolen. He told Melrah that he would be willing to supply him with unlimited coke in exchange for a loyal crew that he could depend on, to come up to Connecticut to manage a few spots for him.

Hec took Melrah to Connecticut, after showing him some of his lavishing condos; he gave him the keys to one and said, This one is for you! Melrah knew that Hec was dealing with a lot of paper after he gave him a new Escalade and a plush condo. Hec, Melrah, and that Puerto Rican mommy (Marisol) chilled out at the condo for about an hour or so sipping on Dom P and blowing a few blunts of purple haze. Hec started to get tired, finally he said good night to Melrah and Marisol and went home. Melrah said to himself that he would never forget that night as he kissed Marisol. They then made their way to the hot tub. He was hard as a brick and she was dripping wet. As they took off their clothes, he noticed how perfect her body was. She was five feet seven, long black hair and a body that measured 32-28-42. She was hot and beautiful! Melrah had a policy that he would never have sex with a female unless he was protected with a condom, but that night; forget it! They licked, fucked, sucked, and overwhelmed themselves to the music of Chico Debarge cd Love still good. They were exhausted as they fell into a satisfied sleep.

The next morning, Melrah woke up early to breakfast and a blunt. He and Marisol talked about last night and became more acquainted. From that point on, they were a couple that had money and did everything together. The phone rang, it was Hec telling Melrah to come downstairs, and he had to talk to him. Melrah went downstairs where he got in the front seat of a black 600 Benz with the black old school three piece rims. Melrah, what’s good? I’m catching a flight to Puerto Rico tonight. I have to take care of some business. I’ll be back in a few weeks. So in the meantime, I want Marisol to show you some of my spots and show you what’s going down. When I get back, we are going to be getting this money! He popped the trunk and told Mel to get the green duffle bag out; when he gets back he would holler at him. Alright my dude, says Melrah as he proceeded up stairs with the heavy ass bag. When he got upstairs, he emptied the bag on the bed. This is when he realized that Hec had blessed him with fifty five stacks. As he looked at Marisol and kissed her, the phone rang again. It was Hec telling him that there was plenty more where that came from and not to spend all that money in one place. He laughed as he hung the phone up. They then showered and got dressed, went to the mall and spent some cash. Afterwards, Marisol showed Melrah around the town. She showed and told him about every hustler in the town that was getting paper. She showed him some crooked cop’s that were on Hec’s payroll. She told him about two undercover cop’s that wasn’t to be trusted who names were Mark Pinto and his partner was Kenny Guy. They were known for extortion, robbing drug spots and taking drugs that did not belong to them.

That night, Melrah and Marisol hung out and got to know each other a little better. They ate at a restaurant c called Legal Seafood. Afterwards, they danced the night away at club 212, where all the High rollers were known to hang out. They blew a couple purple haze bombers and popped a couple of bottles. They got their head right and went back to the condo where they made love all night long! Marisol began to love the way Melrah just punished her in bed.

The next morning, they went to a jewelry store in Rhode Island named Small Paul’s. Small Paul was a first cousin to Joey the jeweler. He only dealt with the best jewels and diamonds in the world. She dropped $15,000.00 on a ring and another $11, 000.00 on a chain for Melrah. She was working for Hec for like three years, so her money was long. She softly said to him, I hope our relationship can grow into something special? He kissed her and said, We can do whatever you like as long as it doesn’t get in the way of my money! That’s when she realized that he was all about his paper. They drove back to Connecticut, but before going back to the condo, she drove to Bridgeport and showed him her condo. It looked like something straight off of MTV cribs. That’s when he realized that her paper was also long.

While they were in the crib, she got a call from her cousin Fonz. She told him to come over because she wanted him to meet Melrah. Within fifteen minutes, Fonz pulled up in a gray 850 BMW. His mouth was flooded with gold and he smelled like new money. Yea! He was about his chips. He let Mel know that he was the man in Bridgeport; he had his projects on lock. He went back and forth to New York every month to cop a certain amount of keys. Little did he know, soon Melrah would be his future connect and would make it where he didn’t have to go back and forth to New York to buy his coke anymore.

Two weeks went by, Melrah it would be a good idea to go to New York and snatch up his crew and bring them to Connecticut so that they would be there when Hec returned from Puerto Rico. Marisol liked driving him around, so Melrah let her drive him to Harlem to pick up his crew. They jumped on I95, lit up a blunt and threw on a Wu-Tang Cd in the player; they were on their way. While on the highway, Melrah called his crew: T-Nills, Bill, Celo, and Dae Dae, told them to meet him at Sylvia’s restaurant on 126th and Lenox Ave. T-Nills, Bill, and Celo pulled up in a Lincoln Navigator; while Dae Dae pulled up in his Chevy Tahoe. They then greeted each other with handshakes and hugs as Melrah introduced them to Marisol. They went inside the restaurant and before Melrah began to tell them what the deal was, Dae Dae said, Yo Mel, I don’t know want to cut our meeting short, but I have to go and meet Mexican Danny on 145st to buy seven ounces and a brand new 45! Melrah begins telling them what the deal was. Yo, I been up in Connecticut with the Puerto Rican cat Hec that I told you about. We got coke, guns, cribs and plenty money. Everything is set. Hec told me that he had an unlimited supply of coke. I told him that I had a team to move it. He will be back in a week. I told him that everything in Connecticut would already be set up. So, what’s good? Everybody said that they are with it. Only thing was that Dae Dae wanted to first call Danny and tells him to forget about their meeting. He no longer needed that issue. They finished eating and drove uptown to Branson and dropped about five or six hundred on smoke, because Branson only sold that rawness. Dae Dae parked his Tahoe in the garage and jumped in the navigator. They followed Melrah and Marisol to Connecticut, got high and they talked about all the paper that he was going to be stacking; how he would have loved to be able to open back up those famous clubs uptown which was the Roof Top and Harlem World. He got so caught up in the moment that he forgot to call Danny back and call off their meeting. When they got back to Connecticut, they went straight to the condo and popped in the Good Fellas DVD and started putting a few plans together. Marisol immediately clicked with the crew. She liked their style; how they dressed, talked and their whole swagger.

    Chapter 2

Dae Dae and Celo constantly talked about how they wanted to start their own record label and maybe even be their labels first artist, because they really knew how to rap. In fact, felt as if they were better than the rappers that are in the industry now, but they never really took their time to try to get a record deal. They spent most of their lives hustling and chasing that paper. Bill, better known as Flashy Bill love to dress and loved to be the first cat in his hood with the newest kicks or gear. He would be the guy that launched his own clothing line and try to knock other clothes lines out of the box. He was the creative type. He would always take his cars and trucks to Dappa Dan on 125st and get his seats and interior draped out in Luie Vutton or Gucci pattern. He’s the type that can have ten dollars in his pocket, but looks as if he’s got five thousand.

Then you got T-Nills; he’s the business type cat. Every dollar spent was an investment. He once used profits that he made from selling drugs and brought a five story building. Before he could move tenants in the apartments, his plans failed because he didn’t know anything about the real estate business. He planned to learn more about the business and try again in the future. Little to nothing needs to be said about Melrah. He’s the go to guy, the guy that can put a team together and make things happen. He’s obliviously financially motivated.

After an hour or two, they left the condo, jumped in the whips and went to get something to eat. When they returned to the condo, Marisol got a call from her twin sister Maribel and her older sister Maritza. After talking for a few minutes, Marisol invited them over. Once they got there, they were introduced to Melrah’s crew. Immediately Celo pushed up on Maribel while Dae Dae pushed up on Maritza, but Maritza was into guys that dressed flashy, wore jewelry and looked like they got a lot of money. So in a nice way, she gave Dae Dae the cold shoulder and threw the booty at Flashy Bill. She was beautiful just like her sisters. She was also a gold digger. She had a hell of a body and all the ballas in Connecticut was in line trying to hit that.

Mel and Marisol left and drove to Bridgeport over to Marisol’s condo, jumped up in the Jacuzzi, smoked a few blunts, fucked, laid up in bed and relaxed for the rest of the day. Maritza and Maribel hung out with the fellas for the rest of the day. It was fair to say that knowing how Flashy Bill and Celo move, they got their fuck on. That night, Hec called Melrah on his cell phone and they talked about fifteen minutes. Mel let him know that his crew was in Connecticut ready to set up shop. Hec said that’s good, because I will be back in town by Wednesday. It will be time to make the doughnuts you heard! Melrah said alright one, I will see you when you touchdown. He then ended the conversation. They then put on a Ja-Heem cd and fell asleep.

They woke up about eight o’clock in the morning, it was Friday. Melrah remembered it was T-Nill’s birthday and he told Marisol that he wanted to do something special for him. She suggested that they go to the casino at Foxwoods to spend some money, drink and have some fun. He said it sounds like a good idea because that’s all they do back home anyway was roll dice, craps and Celo. He also thought it would be a good idea to invest in some phones, so he bought the whole crew phones which was considered a power move. After driving around for a few minutes, they copped a box of Dutch masters (cigars) and six or seven bottles of champagne. They then drove to the condo to chill with the rest of the crew. It was around twelve noon when they got to the condo. The first thing Melrah did was say happy birthday to T-Nills, gave him a hug and a bottle of champagne. Marisol also hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He gave everybody their phones and they programmed each other’s phone numbers and direct connect (walkie talkie) numbers in their phone. T- nills said, Good look on the phone mel, but I’m trying to do it up for my birthday kid. After Marisol told them about Foxwoods, everybody agreed to go. Marisol said that she would be right back then left the condo. She returned 45 minutes later then yelled, Foxwoods is on me tonight and t-nills, ima make sure you enjoy this night. Everybody jumped in their cars and drove to the mall to cop outfits for the night. Melrah bought t-nills an outfit for his birthday. Melrah and t-nills went into the Gucci store and went crazy. They wore Gucci from head to toe. Melrah was draped in the green velour Gucci suit with the lofas to match. He also sported the Gucci shades to go with the outfit. T-nills wore an identical Gucci outfit except his was beige. Melrah dropped an easy ten stacks in that store. Dae dae and celo ran up in the Versace store and got right. T-Nills said good look on the phone Mel, but I’m trying to do it up for my birthday kid! Marisol them about Foxwoods. Everybody agreed, so Marisol said she’ll be right back and left. She then returned forty minutes later and said I got about thirty-eight though in the trunk, so Foxwoods is on me tonight and T-Nills, I’m going to make sure you enjoy this day! Everybody then jumped in the whips and drove to the mall to cop outfits for the night. Since it was T-Nill’s birthday, Melrah brought him an outfit. They went to the Gucci store and went crazy. They wore Gucci from head to toe. Mel rocked the green velour Gucci suit with the loafers to match and a pair of Gucci frames. T-Nill’s had an identical outfit, except that his was beige. Maritza had hung out with them in the mall while Marisol stayed with T-Nill’s and Mel. They then met back up at the mall’s parking lot within an hour or so, went to the crib, showered and got fresh.

By eight o’clock that night, everybody was sharp as a thumb TAC, four cars deep, heading to Foxwoods to get their chips and have fun! Once they got there, they split up and were all over the place. There were slot machines, poker tables and dice tables everywhere. One of the good things about it was that all the drinks were on the house, so getting drunk was a must. A few hours had passed and Celo seemed to be the only person to come up so far as to winning $130,000 at the crap table. He had a big sense of humor, so he kept everybody laughing and in good spirits. He passed out about four or five thousand dollars worth of chips to his people and kept moving to the poker tables. Every now and then, one of them would two way the others to meet back up at the hotel room to smoke a blunt on the balcony. No one except Melrah knew that Marisol had called six or seven of her female friend strippers to show up at the hotel room. After about another two hours, Marisol two wayed everybody on their Nextel walkie talkies to meet back up at the hotel room for another blunt. Little did they know, there would be seven beautiful women in G strings, thongs and minnie skirts on. Some had no panties on. Some had no clothes on at all. Melrah basically hand -picked the girls he loved and of course with a fat ass. They all had a fat little ass on them. Soon as they entered the room, Celo and Flashy Bill at the same time yelled out Oh shit! Everybody started laughing. The women were dancing to Ice cream, a song off of Only Built for Cuban Links (The Purple Tape) by Raequan the Chef. This was a 1994 classic cd that’s still a banger to this day. Everybody got lap dances that night including Marisol, Maritza and Maribel. Forty minutes later, things really started to heat up. What set things off is when Maritza took Bill by the hand, signaled to four other strippers and disappeared into one of the rooms. Dae Dae immediately followed suit and took two of the girls and jumped into the Jacuzzi with them; butt ass naked yelling out loud Isn’t nothing but a g-thing bay bay holding a bottle of Don-P in his hand and a fat ass blunt in his mouth.

Celo put together a fat great adventure blunt for T-Nill’s for his birthday, which was ten to twelve inches long. Celo didn’t unwrapped it, he just took his time and rolled all of the tobacco out of the cigar and stuffed and packed it with that good weed they brought back from Branson. Most people call it a stuffy, but Celo called it a big ass blunt. T-Nill’s couldn’t share it with no one. He had to smoke it to the face by himself for his birthday. Plus, it had to go out about ten times. They left him on the couch with remaining two girls which were the same two girls that were naked. Most of them woke up the next morning with a headache and a hangover, but still in the celebration mode. They went downstairs and saw that T-Nill’s was still laid out in the same position that they had left him in with all his clothes still on. So they knew he was too drunk to enjoy the pleasure of being with two girls at the same time. The girls were getting dressed jokingly telling T-Nill’s that they had the pleasure each other because he fell asleep on them and that he would have to make it up to them. He said in a smooth voice, No doubt, I got you’ll"! He then went in the shower. The rest of the crew talked about how much fun they had the last two nights. They showered up, got dressed and went back to the casino, dropped another $3,600.00 on the dice table before exchanging their remaining chips in for cash and leaving.

On the way back to the condo, Marisol, Melrah and Celo stopped at the Bodega to pick up a box of Dutch Master Cigars. The rest of the crew kept it moving. Marisol got out the truck, went in the store to get the dutches. On her way back to the car, she was confronted by two dudes. After about two minutes, Celo said Yo Melrah, it looks like she’s arguing with one of those cats! They then hopped out the truck. As they approached Marisol, they heard the dude calling her a bitch! As they got closer, not knowing that she wasn’t by herself, he slapped her hard and she fell to the ground. Melrah and Celo immediately went to work on homeboy! Melrah knocked him out while Celo continuously jumped up and down on his face. Melrah engaged in a fist fight with the other cat. Celo leaving the one dude bloody and unconscious, he began helping Melrah and quickly went to work on the other cat. Celo yelled out to Marisol, go start the car! After about twenty to thirty more seconds of whipping homeboys ass, they picked him up and threw him through the Bodega window, jumped in the car and took off toward the condo. Marisol had a red hand print across her face, but she said that she was fine and began explaining who the guys were. She said the guy who slapped her was her ex-boyfriend by the name of Jesse. She said his nickname was Cash and he had Waterbury C.T. on smash. That he supplied some of Boston and Rhode Island with their coke. She told them how powerful he was, so they knew they had to prepare for war. It wasn’t anything new because these cats were from Harlem and all they knew was sex, money and murder. They also stayed prepared to get it popping. Jesse (Cash) didn’t know Melrah and Celo worked for Hec, nor did he know that since Marisol broke up with him for cheating on her; she was working for Hec also.

Cash was a big time cat in C.T., but Hec was a little more of a heavy weight then he was. If he had known who she had worked for, he would have never gotten into any confrontation with her or her crew, but it was a slap late for all of that. Cash and Rico (his cousin he got beat up with), never saw Mel or Celo before but knew if he saw them again, he would try and kill
