ANTREE
The Beastiles were the unordinary group of civilized young villagers in Antree. They struck people quite odd considering their parentless lifestyles. Alichie was a young twelve year old boy who loved to explore different things in his world, on the planet Plasia. It was endless on what he could discover on Plasia, where the moons have rings around them symbolizing peace. There are flying dragons (good dragons) in the sky protecting the planet. The skies have bright colors by day, and different colored stars that shine bright in the night like a rainbow. Alichie would spend most of his time in the town’s library, which was his favorite place in all of Antree. Alichie wasn’t good with making friends with other young boys his age; very few had the same interest or imagination. Children would make fun of him because of his large round glasses and how they made his dark brown eyes strangely noticeable. Sarah Beastile was the creative one of the Beastile family; she mostly spent her time writing and drawing (mostly drawing). Her most favorite and relaxing time was drawing the trees and the colorful skies of Antree. Sarah was one of the most beautiful girls in Antree and not one boy could miss her walking by or fail to greet her. They all admired her golden hair and her blue eyes that captured attention instantly. Pilimphee was the youngest of the family and quite beautiful as well; although she did not think so. Her dark brown hair was very long (longer than Sarah’s even) and the neatest; she brushed it every day and placed a small rose in it every day as well. The rose was her personal secret which to her was not to be shared. Pilimphee was only nine years of age and was adored by everyone in Antree. Pilimphee had no particular interest in anything except for helping others; only one of the reasons why everyone adored her. Although she was beautiful to others, she did not see her own beauty; she wanted to be and look more like her big sister Sarah. Dove was the oldest one in the family and spent his time working on Antree’s great farm fields, hunting for food in the woods with sword, bow and arrows. As the oldest and no parents, Dove had to be the provider and protector of the family. He was adored by almost every girl in Antree, but had no time for a relationship with anyone other than family. The Beastile children were all unique in their own way. Alichie was the philosopher, Sarah the artist, Pilimphee the little helpmate, and Dove the guardian. Alichie, Sarah, Pilimphee, and Dove were family who stuck together and in their hearts were as one forever.
Come on everyone! He’ll be here in a few minutes,
yelled Sarah while she banged on all the doors in the house. She attempted to get everyone up and ready for the arrival of her special friend. Don’t worry, Sarah, we’re all ready. We’ve showered, dressed and everything,
said Alichie.
You know, Sarah,
said Dove, I still don’t know why you’re so nervous and want everything to be so perfect for your friend.
Oh, you don’t think I’m trying too hard, do you Dove?
Sarah asked.
Well, you might want to relax a little bit,
said Alichie.
There was a knock at the door.
That must be him!
said Sarah very excitedly. She ran to the door, and as soon as she opened it, there stood her friend Peter with flowers.
Oh, thank you so much! I love them.
Peter was Sarah’s love and they did everything together. He came down to the village for a special celebration. It was the day that the Son of the Mighty Spirit was born; the day had finally come. Sarah and Peter held hands and started walking toward the field where the celebration was taking place.
Aren’t you all coming?
asked Sarah. The celebration is about to start.
She looked back at Dove and the others.
Of course, we’re right behind you.
While they walked down to the celebration, they saw a lot of other villagers bringing food, enchanted dust, and more tents. While Sarah and Peter were walking and holding hands, they could not help but notice the happiness on everyone’s face and the beauty of the land around them.
Well, we’re here. Isn’t it the most beautiful sight you’ve ever laid eyes on?
said Alichie.
They all saw a lot of beautiful things; lilies with bright blue colors just as the sun shine on the ocean and as bright as the morning sky on a sunny day. Tents with lots of great smelling food cooling off underneath, all types of drinks for the occasion, the sun casting a radiant orange light over the horizon, and the river flowing ever so peacefully giving creating a feeling of tranquility for all. Everyone was laughing, talking and so excited to be together; before long the food, drinks and seating was completely set up.
Well, looks like everything is ready and the food smells so good
, said Dove.
The celebration started; everyone was dancing all around the field. There were fire tricks in many different shapes and forms; everyone settled down to eat. There were cooked turkeys, chickens (all from the local farms), fish from Antree’s locals and vegetables freshly picked. Suddenly something just did not feel right; the atmosphere shifted; they all sensed it but no one wanted to say anything in fear of ruining the occasion.
The feeling was so unusual and became overpowering; everyone felt something drastic was about to happen, but tried harder to ignore the feeling that something was about to happen.
No one said a word, but their faces said it all; after some time passed, they were able to get pass the awkwardness and continued with the celebration. They began dancing, eating, and creating smoke images of circles, small animals and other things the tremendously large fire they built to keep them harm after the sun had gone down.
Dove was having so much fun watching others dance; he decided to ask a young lady he knew from his village if she would like to dance. She blushed with shyness but quickly said yes and they danced cheerfully. Alichie on the other hand decided to dance with Pilimphee, who laughed with excitement each time Alichie lifted her up in the air.
Peter and Sarah were the only two sitting on a little hilltop, with Sarah’s head against his shoulder. Peter could not get the courage to ask her to dance because he was not a very good dancer in his opinion. Although Sarah knew he wanted to ask her and the reason he had not asked, she still gave him small glances to encourage him. Peter felt it would be rude not to ask and decided there was nothing to lose by asking her, so he did. He knew how they felt about each other and knew Sarah would love him with two left feet and all.
Throughout all of Antree, everyone was happy, and it was the best time anyone could have had. Later on, they went back to their spot, lying down with their souls satisfied, feeling so mirthful, and their bellies satisfied with the warm and delicious food.
You know who I wish could be here the most?
Pilimphee asked.
Who? asked Sarah.
Mr. Henston. I really wish he could have been here. He would have enjoyed this most out of all of us. He loved to see the people like this every once in a while.
Pilimphee…You do know why we can’t see them again, don’t you?
Yes I do, but I really don’t think he was guilty of anything; I mean he could have—
–
Pilimphee now is not the time to talk about it. Let’s just keep the past where it is for the moment.
Pilimphee put her head down, feeling foolish, and Sarah could see that. She wasn’t wrong, only curious. Sarah looked at Pilimphee and felt guilty; she knew that Pilimphee missed Mr. Henston more than anyone and that he was a very special to them.
Look, Pilimphee. I’m sorry, but what’s done is done, and we can’t do nothing about it; we have neither that power nor authority,
Sarah said.
What if we did though? What if we controlled everything? Then none of this would be happening.
I can assure you that things would be a lot different,
Sarah said.
Do you really think he did it? I mean, really?
Alichie asked.
Of course not, but weather we think he did it or not doesn’t matter. I don’t believe everyone thinks he did it. I mean, a man at his age pulling off a stunt such as that is absolutely out of this world. I wouldn’t believe that at all unless I had seen it with my own eyes.
What if something happens to us? After all, we did live with him.
Alichie, please don’t start with that again. Nothing is going to happen, and if so, why didn’t it happen already?
He’s right, Alichie. Maybe we should just let it go and not discuss the matter at all. This is a time for celebrating so let’s just –
Let’s just what, pretend that none of this is happening? Mr. Henston would have put us in a place like that, so why are we letting him stay in there?" Alichie said.
Look Alichie,
Sarah said furiously, we will talk about this when we get back so stop it right now!
But Sarah –" Alichie began.
Out of the blue a distant but powerful voice said It is near
.
Everyone immediately turned towards the person who was speaking aloud; it was the Mr. Henston. He was wearing a long brown raggedy shirt covered in dirt, and quite thin like a skeleton with only his skin clinging to it; his pants were missing and the only thing covering his frail body was his long tattered shirt.
He was sixty-two years old and once Antree’s fortune teller until he was accused of communicating with dark forces. In the village, if anyone did anything to threaten the peace of Antree, the punishment was death by beheading or imprisonment forever. The councilman of the village decided to imprison Mr. Henston and placed him in a deep dark cell until he confessed. Mr. Henston just stood there and it was obvious to everyone that he wanted to speak, but the words were lacking. His legs were shaking, and everyone could see he was very feeble.
After what seemed like an eternity, he said I had a vision once again about another world coming to ours and we must prepare quickly for the un –
Suddenly, two guards grabbed him and rushed him away toward the penitentiary. Alichie and the others were all curious about how Mr. Henston got out and more importantly what he said; or at least tempted to say.
Later on that evening, when the celebration was over, Sarah, Pilimphee, Dove, Alichie, and Peter all made their way back home, discussing what had taken place. They all were thinking that Mr. Henston was either right or not in his right mind. When they arrived home they just stood around; too baffled to sit down.
Come on, you all. Sit down,
Alichie said. You know we have to talk about this
; everyone sat down. Alichie and Pilimphee seemed to be the only two interested in discussing the strange events; they could tell the others wanted no part in the discussion.
Well …um…
Sarah started, I know that we all heard what he said back there, and it was …um, not the truth and he is not sure what he’s talking about. I just want you all to know that there’s nothing at all to worry about. We are all safe and everything will be fine as long as we remain calm.
You know that he’s never wrong,
Pilimphee said. I mean, just because the councilmen of this village says he’s crazy doesn’t mean he is.
Well, according to the councilmen, he is,
Alichie said, but they could be wrong about him.
Look guys,
Dove said. Do you even hear yourselves? Why does any of this even matter? Why are we even discussing this?
Dove’s right,
Peter said. I mean he’s locked in a cell so what is all this even about?
You know what? Maybe you’re right,
Alichie said. Let’s just all go to bed and forget all about this.
No. I don’t want to forget about this!
Pilimphee exclaimed. Mr. Henston loved me…us
Without another word Pilimphee ran up stairs before anyone could see tears roll down her face, but everyone knew the hurt she was feeling. Alichie was
