About this ebook

I was inspired to write 365 Days To Authenticity because I met so many people in my personal and professional life who were not living their desired life. My question was why aren't people really living their real life? So I asked questions not in a scientific way. But at social gatherings I attended I just brought up the topic. Most people were intrigued by the discussions and shared some information. This is some of the responses I got. Some people mentioned when they were young significant people in their life discouraged them not to pursue their dream. Some people admitted that it was based upon fear and it had held them back for years. There were a few people who shared the passing of a love one, or a painful divorce. They spoke about being in a place of just getting by from day to day. Others talked about not having time because of the responsibilities they had. Then there were people who talked about living the "golden life" after retirement.

I also met people who made grand declarations and resolutions for the coming year. When the discussion changed to resolutions, many people laughed about it. They said it was almost like a normal annual tradition but they expected no real change. Others talked about how they started their resolutions and "life' got into the way. So nothing really changed for them.

365 Days To Authenticity challenges the reader with the philosophy of this is the real life right now and the desired life is obtainable. The book offers the reader to take a year to create the desired life. The first step is to take that dreaded self inventory. After the self assessment I offer the reader new practices that will enhance their journey every month to building a solid life. There are no gimmicks just a commitment to living a healthy well deserved life, That engages the mind, body and spirit.

Constance’s professional life can only be described as eclectic! She is an adventurous spirit whose curiosity about life has led her in many directions. Her passion for the arts led her to attend a design school. Which led her to start a home based business in floral design entitled Kalideoscope. She was inspired to write a screenplay after attending a film festival in Miami entitled Full Circle. Her compassion for humanity led her to pursue a degree in teaching. She worked with children and families in high risk areas that consisted of gangs and crime. She wanted to become more involved with helping people on a deeper level, so she changed her degree to social work. Her most profound work developed when she worked with the homeless, domestic violence victims, as well as abused and neglected children, Working with families in Hospice gave her a new perspective about living. Hospice patients enriched her life to become more intentional with how she spent her time. While assisting her siblings with taking care of their parents while they were ill, she created her Life Coaching business entitled Finding Your Authentic Path. Her business gave her the flexibility to be present at the last days of her parent’s life. As a transitional coach, she guides her clients through crisis and encourages them to transform the experience into new beginnings. Her current project is working with Dollye James, elementary school counselor. Ms. James commissioned her to write a play to enhance the curriculum for children who display mild behavioral problems; which prevent them from performing well in the class room. The children attend the classes on the weekends for twelve weeks. The play emphasis is based upon self efficacy and social development.

    Intro: 365 days to Authenticity

365 Days to Authenticity is an extension of my life coaching business Finding Your Authentic Path. I’ve worked in the helping profession for over 20 years.

In my early years I experimented a lot. I thought I wanted to be a nurse so I pursued nursing school. After a few years of working as a nursing assistant I wanted to tap into my artistic side. So I started a path in retail by going to a design school to become a buyer. That was a fun time in my life. I learned about art, interior design, fashion buying, and fashion writing. Additionally I learned floral design. After several years in that world, I searched for more meaning in my life. During that time my marriage ended in divorce. So I needed to take care of myself and my two sons. I went back to school and pursued a career in teaching. I worked as a substitute teacher for a year while seeking my degree. Soon I discovered that I wanted to teach people more than curriculum. The student’s issues and how they responded to their problems was much more interesting to me.

I changed my major to social work. The years I spent working as a social worker turned out to be the most profound and rewarding work of my life. I worked with the homeless population earlier in my profession. In the last years in my career I worked with children with emotional and behavioral trauma. In addition while working with abused and neglected children my perspective about life changed. My gratitude expanded. I fully embraced life as a precious gift. I learned so much during those years about basic human needs. The year I spent working with hospice patients increased my knowledge in prioritizing. I learned that one of the most important things in life is to spend time with the people you love. I was able to witness people’s last days on the earth while working in Hospice. They all wanted to spend those last days with their love ones.

In January of 2012 my mother became very ill. Our family decided that we would take care of our mother at home. She passed away three months later. It was truly one of my best gifts in life, being able to assist my siblings in taking care of her. It was a precious time for our family.

Before my mother’s passing the Holy Spirit started to prepare me for transitioning out of social work into life coaching. I began learning about coaching while still working as a social worker. By the time my mother passed I had already created my coaching business Finding Your Authentic Path. The time had come to transition out of social work and into life coaching. The timing was perfect. I could not have played a significant part in my mother’s care without establishing a new beginning for myself.

I was inspired by my own transition to name my brand of coaching transitional coaching, assisting others through significant life events.

To many, it may appear that I’ve sailed out of one profession into another. But this is my journey and I believe that we all are endowed with multiple gifts. These gifts are to be used to glorify God.

The spirit of God led me to many avenues to pursue my passions. There are seasons in the natural world, but also seasons in a person’s life. Seasons always represent change. By acknowledging and moving into those seasons I was led into my life’s work.

I am not suggesting that everyone has to change their profession multiple times. We are all individuals and have different callings on our life. But listening for the call and acting upon it led me to some exciting adventures.

One of the major reasons why 365 Days to Authenticity was written because I was constantly meeting people both in my professional and personal life who were not satisfied with their lives.

My biggest question was why? Why were so many people not really living the life they truly wanted to live?

I found many answers, but the greatest one was fear. Basically people felt like the life they were dreaming about was just a dream, not a reality. This saddened me I wanted to do something about it.

I also met people who were just exhausted, and felt tired most of the time. My thought was if people are tired all the time, when is it possible to have time to dream or even realize a dream?

The overwhelming thought in my mind was that many people were not really living authentically. I knew I wanted to address these issues in my business and this book. Making a New Year’s resolution did not appear to be a recipe for success either. I wanted to share with others some life lessons that I learned over time that made a difference in my life.

    I believe that living authentically
