Reviews for The Immigrant
19 ratings1 review
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nina is a thirty-year-old English lecturer in New Delhi, living with her widowed mother and struggling to make ends meet. Ananda has recently emigrated to Halifax, Canada; having spent his twenties painstakingly building his career, he searches for something to complete his new life. When Ananda's sister proposes an arranged marriage between the two, Nina is uncertain: can she really give up her home and her country to build a new life with a husband she barely knows? The consequences of change are far greater than she could have imagined. As the two of them struggle to adapt to married life, Nina's whole world is thrown into question. And as she discovers truths about her husband - both sexual and emotional - her fragile new life in Canada begins to unravel. Tender and compelling, "The Immigrant" is an honest exploration of a marriage, what it costs to start again - and what we can never leave behind.

PREFACE
T he immigrant is not just a book it’s a true story of a young man who left his family and his friends behind and relocated to the UK in order to complete his higher education (Master degree). Obtaining a UK master degree from a well established and recognised institute was just one of his dreams. We all have a family and we all love our family. It was not easy for him to relocate abroad. The story is full of efforts and sacrifices he made in order to achieve his desired destiny. The story also explains his daily life as well as his experience living abroad as an immigrant. Every single chapter is full of fun, excitement and challenges which you will never observe or experience being a citizen.
In the light of Islamic values immigration (Migration) was a profession of prophets and saints because of their preaching’s, teachings and presentations to deliver the message of Allah (God) who is the Lord of the Universe. Immigration (Migration) is also a continuous process from Generation to Generations.
Many things happen first time in life but you can never forget them. you can change and you can replace everything in your life but you are unable to replace your memories when you learn a good lesson from them. Most of the people think that when someone come from abroad or relocate from one country to another it’s because they want to earn money. They want to have a good life and a life style but I would like to say that money is not always a reason behind migration or relocation.
It does not matter which colour we are, where we live, which nationality we hold, which language we speak, which culture we belong to, what we do in our life but i am sure that we all were born exactly the same way on the same planet and we were given the entire galaxy to understand and explore its natural beauty. Life is not all about having money, business, properties, luxury life and other assets but having good friends, good people around you who understand you, who are always there for you in your good and bad times.
When a citizen relocates from one country to another he becomes an Immigrant and it’s never easy for an immigrant to have a good life. There are lot of factors which have great impact and influence on immigrants daily life. If you are a citizen or if you moving abroad for short break or relocating permanent with or without family after reading this book you will have a great understanding of an immigrants life.
