About this ebook
Gideon C. Mekwunye
My name is Gideon C. Mekwunye, born in 1951 in the City of Lagos, Nigeria, in West Africa, to Mr. Stephen C. Mekwunye and Mrs. Alice Igwe Mekwunye. As a vivacious young man and the first son out of a family of eight surviving children, I knew from youth the task ahead and understood that life would not be a bed of roses for me and that I have a big job in getting the family out of poverty. Education was of utmost importance. But the family got there with only the help of God. In school, many of my teachers have deduced from my writings that I need to write a book. But my concerns were first to graduate from college than telling stories. So at the time of completing this book, I’m very grateful to the Almighty that some of my dreams so far have been met by managing to graduate in biochemistry, music, and culinary arts. I hope those who read my book find courage and hope and never give up at any point in time. For only the strong survives.

DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to my daughter Chidozi Eguwa Mekwunye who first suggested from the stories told in my first book Tear drops,
Daddy why don’t you write children’s book and tell these stories?
My Son Gideon C. Mekwunye II. All members of Mekwunye’s family, then friends and to kids all over the world.
MISSION
The mission of this book is to impart wisdom to children all over the world as the Africans do; using the personification method and sometimes the euphemizing of Animals, including animate And inanimate objects.
The moon is shining and at that month where Jupiter is adjacent; under the bright starry heavens the elders gather them to roast corn and yams; stories are told to impart wisdom; stories that will follow them for the rest of their lives.
The words of our elders are words of wisdom.
STORY NO 7
THE AFRICAN BULLY AND ‘CHIWI THE KID’
663271_FNL_01.tifThe dictionary describes a bully as someone who hurts or intimidates others. But the Africans describe a bully as a coward, a thief and a ragamuffin.
Allow me please to tell you the story of Eugene the bully and Chiwi the poor kid. Eugene has become a notorious bully in elementary school. Threatening his fellow students by collecting their lunch money and scaring them that he was going to kill them and that their parents will never find out he did it.
He often lays ambush on ‘Chiwi the kid’ as he was popularly known for been smarter than his age. On the other hand whilst Eugene was a trouble shooter Chiwi was a very peaceful boy. His parents were ‘Jehovah’ Witnesses’ and have often taught him that the Bible teaches that a good Christian does not need to fight but needs to be gentle towards all.
Albeit the smallest in class he was known not to be afraid of any one. Eugene knew this but thought persecuting Chiwi constantly would be a delight.
Every day as he lays ambush to demand Chiwi’s lunch money, Chiwi will refuse and he would slap him and toss him in the bush. Where is the money?!
He would yell. Not a dime would you get from me in this generation nor the next even if you kill me like you always boast.
Chiwi was working in the farm with his mother and stopped for a minute and ask his mother; Mom; what should I do about Eugene who is a popular bully in school always demanding my lunch money and when I refuse he would slap me and toss me in the bush?
His mother Alice threw her hoe away, stood akimbo and screamed. What did I hear you say?!
Chiwi repeated what he said. "Oya! (Right Now!) Let’s leave the farm right now; get
