    About the Author

    Introduction

We are, by nature, inquisitive and curious about the universe. Ever since we became conscious of the universe and ourselves, we have explored the enigmas of science and the ontological questions that surround our very origin, as well as the creation of the universe and its evolution. Responses to the infinite and mysterious complexity of our cosmos have ranged from metaphysical ruminations that ponder the role and agency of a higher universal source and spirit to scientific inquiries that continue to test their various theories in light of new evidence. We are still marveling at and attempting to find solutions to enigmatic questions about our galaxy, black holes, and dark matter—in short, the cosmic structure.

The big bang theory, still a credible proposition with its notion of explosion has provided convincing evidence for many that gravitational waves during the big bang created a whirlpool of galaxies, spinning inward and accelerating and expanding at a speed that was most likely faster than what we have discovered now to be the speed of light. This discovery gives us insight into the origin of time, as reflected in cosmic waves and their origins.

Although we have found some answers to the perplexing questions of existence and the universe, the dynamic and ceaseless process of cosmological evolution confounds us. Our quest for answers began long before modern science emerged, as we have tried to understand cosmology philosophically and religiously. Despite our store of accumulated knowledge, we are powerless vis-à-vis nature, which we think we have successfully harnessed. We are still at the mercy of unpredictable natural and cosmic forces. Each answer we find confronts us with many new questions to ponder about the origin and beginning of life and how life came about from nonlife, the organic from the inorganic, or vice versa.

The present work is an attempt to understand this remarkably colossal and expansive universe and how our expanding, accelerating, and exhausting the earth will endanger our very survival and consciousness, which in turn will undermine our vision to understand our cosmos. The human mind in its interconnections with the universe is the supreme intelligent force that can penetrate most obstacles and unknown worlds through the dialectical synthesis of constructive forces that are constituted by energy.

In the early 1970s, I sculpted a thirteen-foot lightbulb, the cover of my original story of The Forces, which I copyrighted in 1982. Inside the lightbulb there are three forces: negative, positive, and tungsten. The negative symbolizes the Prince of Darkness, the positive the Prince of Light, and tungsten the human inventive medium. Tungsten is the only medium that connects the other two opposing forces without burning them out. Human beings can embody such a synthesis of forces to gain insight into cosmic elements and their own place in the universe. We are capable of diffusing all the destructive forces and transforming their energy to a constructive and peaceful force.

Unfortunately, we are now causing our own tragic downfall through endless destruction, dreadful wars, frightening wastefulness, global warming, and nuclear accidents and fallout. The present work symbolizes and chronicles the narratives of other intelligent and intermediary forces, their downfall, and their accidental misfortune in an unfolding drama of romance and adventure. The imaginary characters represent real people and places on earth that are caught in the grip of social, moral, and ontological questions and dilemmas after they are struck with a seemingly irrevocable calamity and war of extinction. Their dilemmas and solutions provide a guide to the critical problems we confront in current times. Like theirs, our world can only be spared if we recover our faith in our vision. Only then can we rise again from the shadow of amnesia through the power of love and life.

    In The Beginning

The thousands of sound waves of rhythmic vibrations made a seemingly endless wall of kinetic music that softly touched one’s inner soul. It was like a ship of a thousand sails set free, all billowing in the wind of an enchanted ocean. There was no longing to return, as the heavenly forces were overpowering the conscious mind and its intuitive senses. It seemed like a weightless body of intellect and memory, floating on an ocean of ultimate fantasy.

With the gradual changes in the temperature, a warm breath rose gently from what might have been the lower elevations of an infinite and empty plain, penetrating the inner mind of all life forces of the majestic hemisphere. As the temperature rose, the increasing surrounding pressure became unbearable. The pressure continued to mount and intensified. At the same time, there was also an imperceptible and gradual transformation from the mellifluous harmonic sound so pleasing to an undesirably piercing one.

Bodies of gases and ultrafine particles were moving swiftly, like a torrential storm, toward a point. The pressure became enormous, emanating from all directions. Many tornadoes were created, whirling inward toward the center. Radiation emanating from all sides created a kaleidoscope of colors, visibly desperate for an escape route. As far as could be seen, there were circular pockets of gases and particles that seemed to be trapped, moving closer and closer until they merged inescapably. The immobilizing pressure continued to build.

It seemed like an illusory display, immersed in a feverish atmosphere, now pleasing yet nauseating, then disturbing, and finally, agonizing. The body of this massive atmosphere was glowing deep blue and violet. It was a spectacular sight. For the observer, it was like watching a giant breathe, panting, its horizon-wide chest heaving with every breath. The piercing sound continued to diminish until there was nothing but utter silence. The giant could only be observed visually.

Gradually the vibrations of the colors became more intense and radiant. An overtone of ultraviolet with specks of purple appeared throughout the whole body of this pressurized mass of particles. Then it began to diminish in size, and for a moment it seemed as if it were pulled from within by an inward gravitational force. The endless pressure on the body condensed until the mysterious heavenly body was about to vanish permanently.

Within the boundary of this formation, a bright ball of light could be detected, confined and inescapably bound, moving swiftly from one end to the other, leaving a permanent trail behind. Moments later a net of glowing light brimmed the body; giant sparks from the trail junctions brightened its entirety. It was like a giant crystal ball with billions of tangled bright cracks that became brighter and brighter. Suddenly the bright radiation on the outer layer of the fireball burst into billions of blinding sparks like gigantic bolts of lightning, exploding in millions of directions simultaneously.

The burst was so colossal and intense that it was excruciating to see; even with eyes closed, one could still detect a great flash of light. The penetration of the colossal light through space flattened out depth; as a result, there seemed to be only a two-dimensional surface.

The sudden burst of fire occurred within a fraction of a moment, sending infinite sparks through the utter darkness in all directions.

Light and color filled the infinite space in silence. The silence did not last long. Suddenly the most powerful blast the universe had ever perceived penetrated the entire heaven, striking with such force that nothing in creation could withstand its impact. Reverberations kept penetrating as pressure kept rising; it felt almost as if a capital punishment were being exacted for having watched this sacred ceremony.

The explosion was like an untamed horse breaking away from its shackles, consuming enormous existential energy. Finally it was exhausted and slowed down. That’s when the intensity of its liberating struggle was tamed in the same way that all these anomalous explosions were exhausted and slowed down in intensity, until one could distinctly hear thousands of distant explosions each moment.

Gradually the explosions reduced in frequency and intensity and transformed into interchanging sound waves, like a perfect rhythmic vibration that traveled a great distance. Each spark had exploded into many more, and then the total number was gradually reduced. Some had exploded into dust particles; some burned out. Millions of falling sparks, with trails suspended, had been extinguished. Some sparks, now visible as stars, stabilized, while millions of others took an orbit around them in a balance of gravity and force. The more powerful gigantic stars pulled many, and many simply burned into ashes.

The great reduction in explosions made it possible to focus on each particular spark and its evolution. The first that came into sight was a small solar system called Kromanide, consisting of six planets rotating around a luminous star called Raonah.

Kromanide was one of many solar systems in a cluster galaxy called Kozenda X5. Nearest to Raonah was Korteen, even smaller and burned in the distant past by solar flare and radiation. Hendrin was the largest planet and the second closest to Raonah. It was called a rebel planet, parched and pulverized from extreme temperature and violent atmosphere. The third and the fourth planets were very close to each other; their gravitational force was the reason they bombarded each other and destroyed any possibility of life force. The sixth planet was the farthest from Raonah, composed of ice and gas.

Exzaina was the fifth planet from Raonah, the only planet in the solar system that sustained life. Exzaina was undergoing many changes on its surfaces. It almost expressed the inner action of the life forces and their complex chemistry on this planet.

It was this planet that gave birth to all life, from the smallest and most invisible life force to the most giant. Alas, the humanoid people of this planet, the so-called intelligent ones, were nihilistic; they were not intelligent enough to share all the natural resources on the planet. From day one of their evolution, they fought each other, competing for land, water, and power. They waged wars and feuds, slaughtering each other ruthlessly by any means according to the dictates of time and different forms of cannibalism, in the name of hegemony and ascendency.

They developed arsenals, weapons of mass destruction, which they never hesitated to use against each other. This was their greatest downfall. A great many spiritual leaders and messengers came and advised them to mend their destructive behavior by embracing respect, compassion, and love for one another. Most took advantage of the preaching and spiritual orders and used them for their own gain, much like Cain spread disorder and violence. The spiritual movement led by these messengers and prophets became religious dogmas, interpreted to fit their needs at the expense of others. They each believed in their own God and harbored disdain for others, believing their God to be greater than others’, a parochial mentality that plagued many and turned belligerent.

They lacked one element in their genetic makeup that could evolve to acquire the ability to accept each other. They lacked tolerance, understanding, and the ability to see the whole picture: that they were all in this world together and that working in unison was the most vital reality to recognize for their physical and mental evolution.

To move beyond these self-centered behaviors human cognition needs to evolve. People need to understand the humanity that underlies suffering. The new understanding became a stepping-stone for the next evolution of life force, a learning process to avoid the same mistake. When the mind is shut down, the body is nothing but a chemical reaction, an explosive capable of self-destruction.

Slowly their myopic view took the afflicted ones to their grave. They lost the essence and spirit of their oneness. They twisted, rewrote, and re-interrupted the narratives to their advantage and changed the ground rules to serve their personal needs. Their rivalry was so vicious that they lost all their values. Their very volatile life force’s self-preservation lay in the destruction of others. This is how destructive they became. Their environment was so polluted that it affected their reasoning; their logic shut down, and rivalry for survival became so lethal that their populace exploded unrestrained.

Their religious beliefs drove them backward to the dark age of ignorance. They lost their perspective and creative ability, not because they lacked talent or the spirit of invention, but because the resources and natural energy they had were put to use for destructive purposes, for domination and conflict, like a snowball rolling down a snow-covered mountain, growing and gaining sweeping force beyond repair. The spirit of tolerance and understanding was replaced by hatred and vengeance. Fraud and deceit, theft, and fratricide became a craft. Art, which once was the expression of beauty to uplift their souls to a new height, abandoned them. Many species of plants and animals became extinct, and what were left struggled for survival. Disease, drugs, and viruses of all kinds took thousands of lives every day. The controlling force of the colony eliminated thousands more every day in the name of fighting crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism.

After many years of war and destruction, one of the Federation colonists seized control of the planet. The state of Brazinia controlled the east, and Konsia, the north territory. The most powerful force was Arcamia, which not only controlled all the colonies but the planets with all its satellite stations. One other colony, Arzaq, stood up for its rights and independence, but lost the battle against the other three colonies. They were so crushingly defeated that their struggle for survival was bleak. Bolena, the largest city of the Arzaq colony, was constantly under the barrage of heavy artillery from Arcamia.

Barsam, the Arzaq commander, had sheltered all the leading thinkers, artists, and scientists and those who opposed Arcamia’s cruel domination.

    A. J. Stoxher, the leader of Arcamia, turned more aggressive in his old age. He was a very experienced commander, who had lost his moral virtues. He would not allow anyone to stand in his way. Even though his sister was married to Commander Barsam, he still wanted to eliminate the Arzaq colony. He was so ruthless that he didn’t care about anyone, including his own kin. Even when he knew he was taking the wrong path, he refused to listen to anyone. He was too powerful and arrogant to admit any wrongdoing, and he killed and imprisoned most of his opponents; the rest f led to the Arzaq colony to seek shelter.

Stoxher felt betrayed by his brother-in-law because Barsam had sheltered many of his opponents. Stoxher’s main preoccupation was trying to protect all the satellite colonies orbiting the planet. The satellite station was a very lucrative business, like real estate, that very few could afford. The wealthy people of the planet invested greatly in ocean liners and space satellites so they could stay away from the troubled city. Some of these satellites were expanding quite rapidly, with greenhouses and enchanting environments. They all depended on Arcamia for their supplies and protection. Necessities such as water, air, and food were all supplied by Commander Stoxher.

The supply routes from the planet to the satellites were frequently hijacked by pirates who thrived from doing so. Stoxher was fighting these hijacking threats inside and outside of the planet. Daily clashes, ambushes, and deadly fighting between the pirates and the Federation, led by Stoxher forces, were common occurrences. Stoxher had military bases around the globe and was constantly waging war against other colonies to maintain his hegemony. Resentment and hate were building up in his brother-in-law, Commander Barsam; he was increasingly criticizing Stoxher for his brutality.

    The City of Bolena

A small aerodynamic space vehicle was speeding between the buildings inside the city of Bolena, the main city of the Arzaq colony. Commander Stoxher’s ground forces, which controlled Bolena, were trying to shoot down the vehicle. Stoxher’s forces had fought drug traffickers, gangs, and even the homeless and sick who swarmed the streets. Sporadic gunshots sounded from sophisticated patrolling space vehicles.

Inside the small vehicle were two young men attempting to establish contact with the tower, the headquarters of Commander Barsam. The contact was made, and the space vehicle found its way through an open gate on the top of the tower. All forces were on alert in the tower, and they surrounded the vehicle. The door of the space vehicle opened, revealing the two young men in the cockpit. One came out while the other remained seated.

The man who came out of the space vehicle is Captain Zayman. He was also known as Zay to his family and friends. He was escorted through the heavily guarded command center and taken to Commander Barsam’s headquarters. Commander Barsam greeted Captain Zayman. Captain Zayman is the son of Commander Barsam’s dear brother, Commander Xan. Commander Xan lived with his followers in the rugged mountains of the Arzaq colony which is located northeast of the city of Bolena. Captain Zayman was a childhood friend of Commander Barsam’s son. Commander Barsam always treated Zay like his own son.

Captain Zayman had a very sophisticated weapon around his waist, and on his left arm he carried a briefcase. As they walked toward their living quarters, Commander Barsam asked his nephew Zay, How is my brother Xan?

Uncle, my father is sending you his best wishes, and he’s doing very well, Zay said. He’s consumed with the spaceship that we are building. All my family members are doing very well, but unfortunately it is very hard to visit you. Uncle, please tell me how is Bradlow doing?

The commander paused for a moment at the mention of his son, and in sadness replied, His condition is worsening. We have lost his mother and now my dear Bradlow. This virus will kill us all. And we have no cure for it. Come, my son, I’ll take you to him.

They walked through a large door into a bright spacious bedroom with a bed in the center. On the bed was the commander’s son, Bradlow, lying unconscious and on life support. He was the same age as Zay, twenty-five years old.

We are helpless, Commander Barsam said. There is nothing we can do. Stoxher’s mindless forces are behaving worse than robots, contaminating the city with poisons and viruses. They have designed these diseases to wipe out the entire population of our city.

Zay was moved by the depth of the sorrow in his uncle’s words, responded, My dear uncle, the reason I came was to bring with me an antivirus that we hope will work. It’s been tested against many viruses and it has successfully worked, and I pray it will work for him too.

Zay pened his briefcase and pulled out a small bottle. He handed it to the commander just as a physician entered the chamber. The commander handed him the bottle. May God help save us all from this pernicious virus.

Zay studied Bradlow. The mysterious virus had taken its toll. He looked emaciated, lethargic, exhausted, with faint sunken eyes and a shaky head.

After a few moments, the doctor gave him the vaccine shot. In addition to the starvation the people faced, as well as the food poisoning and drugs, seven out of ten had been infected with the virus. Zayman looked away. To stop this virus, you need an abundance of the vaccine. I brought a freezer container that contains many doses. There are instructions how more of it could be produced based on the formula, and good luck to you. If need be, I will send more as soon as possible.

We are very grateful that you put your life in jeopardy to come and bring the vaccine, said the commander. He continued, But I am sorry, Zay—you have to leave before Stoxher’s forces get alarmed. I’ll have you escorted out of town; we also pray for your safety. Please give my brother, your mother, and all the family my love; we look forward to a better day.… By the way, I almost forgot. How is your little brother, Jovani?

Zay smiled. He always has something exciting going on. Both him and Shireen.

My favorite little niece. She is a beauty. Is she still dating Oz?

"Oh, Uncle, they are frantically in love with each other. And I only hope Oz’s father, Commander Ahra, is all right. My father and Commander Ahra don’t think that there is a future for this planet. As you know, we have been building spaceships to migrate from here. Commander Ahra’s forces are close to us. Their spaceship is
