About this ebook

You cant handle the truth rang through Americas collective conscience in 1992; that sentiment has always been the way the people are treated by governments. Citizens are thankfully blind to what goes on behind the scenes because knowing would promote mass hysteria. This was driven home on April 19, 1995 and September 11, 2001. Freedom is not free, blood will always be spilled, and we, the people, will remain ignorant of how close and how often this amazing country comes to annihilation from threats foreign and domestic. A few souls, working in the shadows, prevent terrorists from turning us into a nation of paranoia by hunting down these purveyors of hate. Is it murder or extermination of vermin? Are citizens entitled to know how they are protected at a cost to national security? You are The People. You decide.

    PROLOGUE

To cite, or paraphrase, Castle, There are two kinds of people that think about how to commit murder; sociopaths and mystery writers. I believe that this statement should be amended to include those that may, or may not have, done/were or are trying to do both. If this were an email or text or twitter, etc, I would have typed one of those cute emoticons after the last sentence. Clear as mud? Maybe I can illuminate? Come on my adventure… but remember; truth is stranger than fiction.

The dark, darkness. The word(s) may be used to describe so many things, most of them negative in nature. I think Albert Einstein said something along the lines of there is no darkness, only an absence of light. Of course he did this at the expense of some long forgotten professor, and it’s not pertinent to our purpose. So, dark… it pertains to human perceptions of the soul: he had a dark soul, that’s why he killed those nuns and orphans with disabilities. There was darkness in her that made her take her own life. You get the picture (I hope).

But the dark can be a good thing as well. For instance, Hollywood would have us believe that all romantic interludes occur in dimly lit places. Guys joke that they do their best work in the dark. Not something to be feared unless the guy is a lousy lover. However, scary as the dark may be, it is our minds that make it so. It is a primeval, hair-standing-up-on-the-back-of-the-neck, fight/flight response thing. My guess is that it stems from being hunted by large animals with big, sharp teeth and claws for a large part of our existence, and a large number of big, bad predators are active at night… in the dark.

In Eastern philosophy the prevailing wisdom postulates a Yin and Yang, light and dark. Light and dark are not perceived to be bad or good, but simply needed for the universe to remain in balance. One is needed for the other to exist. In that vein, a person is not all good, or all evil. It is hard to believe when history has given us some real winners like Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, the Spanish Inquisition, people who practiced slavery, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Tito, etc. Okay, so the Yin/Yang would go something like; Yes, these guys were way bad and their balance (karma) was like, totally off, but there was some gnarly goodness in there too (bro is optional).

There is an actual reason I bring up this kaleidoscope of dark/darkness topic. I have always been attracted to the darkness of things, but I am out in the light and a card carrying member of society. My taste in music tends toward the heavy metal side of the rock genre. For example, I listen to An’C (Alice In Chains) and Jerry Cantrell, Metallica, Black Sabbath, and a host of others. Many of the lyrics are dark, meaning depressing, agonizing, emotion evoking. I don’t do the Goth or Death Metal, or any of the glorifications of doom, death, and destruction stuff. In any case, I am drawn to the dark side of things while still living in a diverse society and being a generally nice guy.

I still like puppies/dogs, kids, friends, most people I meet, and the mundane things that go with a normal life. I do, however, have a dark side. You do too. The essential difference between you est moi, although I am assuming there is/are more than one, is (drum roll or sinister music, your choice), I lived my dark side for seven years. Ooh! Anticlimactic? Wait for it… I killed people for the United States of America. No, I was never in the military, although I worked with military personnel a few times. By the way, be extremely happy the SEALs are on our side. They are BAD ASS and somewhat psychologically unstable, but very efficient.

I worked for No Such Agency. Some people call it the N.S.A., or National Security Agency. That’s right folks, I committed murder sanctioned by people I’ll never meet or even hear of. N.S.A. is what one might label as compartmentalized. It is one of the reasons the NSA is so good at catching moles and terrorists, and spies in general. On the down side, it also allows moles to get away with sensitive information sharing for a time. Although the NSA is known for the multi-tentacled, technical prowess with which it gathers information from around our big, blue marble, some of its arms are doing the grunt work.

By this, I mean the work done at ground zero. Not the files the NSA passes on to the F.B.I., C.I.A., or other members of the alphabet. These files have clearance from some top echelon (the never meet/hear of crowd) and the subjects of these files are not being targeted for arrest. To offer a military term: terminate with extreme prejudice. The people in these particular files are enemies of our country, the United States of America. Like Charlie Daniels said, We may have done a little fightin’ amongst ourselves, but you outside folks’ best leave us alone! But hold on there! Some of the terrorists in this country are American citizens.

    You killed Americans? you ask.

The short answer is yes. An American terrorist bent on hurting Americans is still a terrorist. The worst kind. They are harder to find because they are home grown, and harder to get close enough to, to accomplish one’s j-o-b. We generally work up close and personal so proximity is important, as in read less than an arms length from scumbag.

The next question on your mind is probably something like, How exactly does one acquire or obtain such employment?

The answer in my case is: One does not. They approached me. Several times. I know, me, really? I did eventually sign on, so to speak. I’ll get to more on that later. It has been years since I did the bidding of Big Brother, but my blood still rushes with adrenaline and my pulse pounds, and my body relaxes in preparation for what is to come, and my senses feel like they are taking in everything at once but understanding every nuance when I relive the kill. Killing is ingrained in our nature, and most people are capable of taking another’s life in the right circumstances. Society holds us back from wholesale murder to a large degree, but it is obviously not enough. Yes, it may sound sick to you, but I enjoyed the hunting and killing of humans, the most dangerous game. It may surprise you to know that I don’t hunt other animals, although the psychology of hunting human or non-humans is eerily similar.

The people our team exterminated (in my mind terrorists are no better than vermin) were intent on harming and/or killing multiple members of this country and I feel no remorse for taking their lives. That includes American terrorists such as Timothy McVeigh or Ted Kaczynski. Some of them hide behind the flag and hateful, antiquated philosophies to rationalize their attitudes, behavior, and God given right to kill Americans. I’m certain a particular three-identical-letter group of white pointy hooded and robed individuals comes to mind.

I’m also sure a psychiatrist would label me as a sociopath of some type or another. By definition, or at least part of it, I am a serial killer. I think the number of kills required to be considered a serial killer is three. Did
