Ending finally its total destruction by mankind. Emerging some centuries later from the shelter of Ethras womb, the new societys scientists and medical practitioners were faced with difficult problems to resolve such as the elimination of grotesque birth defects in new born infants, their tiny bodies twisted and deformed, their lungs and hearts incapable of functioning for more the a few moments after birth. Using genetic engineering the scientist worked on preventing the incidents of the past being repeated. The new society would be protected from the mistakes of the past. A damaged and broken building was discovered Torn and faded documents and many other records were collected and reassembled. From these remnants the leaders of the new society formulated a code of conduct. This formed the foundation of a new society. The Way

Twelve years had now passed since Jocin, Oma and Dela had deserted and abandoned their kin and all they had known to live as free lesser’s. They vowed to live their lives in a simple way surrounded only by the love and devotion of each other. In time many others whom they would come to trust, know and love would also live within the warmth the safety of Homeala its walls were strong and it would protect and keep safe its inhabitants.

Jocin observed his brother Puta several times during those years, but he kept to the shadows, none would tell his brother of his whereabouts. Jocin longed to speak and explain his actions but he knew this would result in much pain for himself, Oma and Dela if he were captured and sent away from them both, so he watched from afar having many imaginary conversations with Puta but they always ended the same way Jocin could not justify his actions to his brother for this was not the way.

Jocin had gathered a loyal following during those years of travelling he spoke of a simpler way of life he spoke of equality. Jocin spoke of the love of his fellow man and of humanity and cooperation. He openly challenged the way its approach to lesser’s and its lack of concern and value of this group of society. Jocin left behind many broken hearts when his death was announced people had to face the reality that a very special man was now gone. Jocin also left his legacy of Dela a well-spoken intelligent and passionate spokesperson in all but name his beloved daughter. Dela took Jocin’s words and spread them even further to an ever widening audience of willing listeners now of both lesser’s and enduring alike. The words and ways of Jocin were strong, honest and suited much of the population who were growing more unsettled with the actions and deeds of the councils of leaders. The way it seemed offered little comfort for those whose lives were hanging in the balance, whose lives were at the mercy of enduring masters who for the most were cruel and lacked compassion and care.

    Chapter 1

    Reflections and Pain

Dela stood in silence, facing the old gnarled tree under which her beloved Jocin & Oma were now both laid to rest. Dela lead the proceedings she spoke clearly and aloud for all those gathered to hear. This is Jocin’s day, on this day we remember Jocin, and we acknowledge his life, his values we honour his words and deeds In unison the small group spoke today we remember Jocin. After a brief moment of silence the small group left Parek, Dela & the children to their personal thoughts and memories. Dela felt the touch of Parek on her shoulder, she turned her head to face his, her tears were running silently down her face, he nodded and walked away taking their twin children Ira & Orlan with him. Dela stood alone for a short time her little family now having left. Wiping her face and taking a deep breath she composed herself and sat down on the now well-worn wooden bench, which Jocin had placed there ten years before. Breathing in the cooling evening air helped Dela to calm her sense of distress and feelings of great loss. Dela often spoke to her beloved Jocin & Oma sometimes even consulting them when her mind was in turmoil, or when she just needed to share her feelings. This anniversary the tenth however was even more sad than usual. Why Dela was not certain but the events which had led up to Jocin’s demises came flooding back to her the realisation that Jocin was about to die and that his death would be the saddest day of her entire life. Jocin was a simple man he asked only for the love of his beloved Oma & Dela a love which was never in question, Jocin was the sweetest man ever to live all loved him and Dela knew even when he lived that his words would live long after his demise but nothing could have prepared Dela or Oma for the loss of Jocin. The whole memory of the events unfolded in her heart and in her mind.

Dela was totally consumed by her past memories. Dela felt forced to sit and relive all the events as if for the first time.

Jocin had awoken early he had been travelling with a small band of loyal followers. The group had just finished a very long journey during which they had travelled precariously close to his former settlement and his now long lost brother Puta.

Jocin often complained of feeling tired after a day of meeting and speaking to his followers, he would take himself away and rest in the open air with the sun on his face and the breeze blowing across his body. Jocin enjoyed the sense of nature about him the openness and freedom. Dela went to find Jocin in his resting place to find him barely able to respond to her voice. Jocin was pale, sweaty and unable to speak his face was miss shaped Jocin looked as if he was in great pain. Dela cried out for help and assistance several of the group including a young man called Parek, who ran to her location she could only point her concern to them. Parek seemed to take control he ordered the group to find a doctor and soon. Dela sat at Jocin’s side she held his hand and gently stroked it in assurance she felt no response from him. Jocin looked afraid he was dazed he could not keep his eyes open for more than a few moments, he tried to smile at Dela but his smile was grotesque and torture for her to see.

Dela’s heart was breaking she thought of nothing other than Oma dear Oma.

Jocin’s moments of awareness were becoming wider apart, he had it seemed no strength in his hands or fingers, when he opened his eye his eye rolled about in an uncontrolled way, Dela’s stare was fixed on his face. Jocin’ opened his mouth as if to speak but all that emerged was a muffled cry for his beloved Ommeer! Ommmeeerr!

Parek approached the scene reverently he gently touched Dela on her shoulder his touch although gentle caused Dela to jump, as she turned away from Jocin, she saw the saddest of faces in Parek. Parek what news of the Doctor, when is he coming? The doctor has been sent for he is some way from here he may be some time even days. Dela immediately released Jocin’s hand, placing it under the cover at his side she arose to her feet. Parek we will take Jocin to the doctor the journey will take us all closer to him we will meet him along the way. Parek immediately organized a team of followers to place Jocin on a stretcher and they then carefully placed him inside the small transporter, which had been their home for many months whilst they journeyed to spread the words and teachings of Jocin.

Dela was anxious to meet the doctor and then return Jocin home to his beloved Oma.

The transporter, now loaded moved off towards the doctors last known location fortunately it was in the direction of Homeala and Oma.

The transporter travelled at a steady pace mindful of its precious cargo and after a whole day of traveling with just the smallest of breaks they met with another transporter carrying the much-needed doctor.

The doctor climbed aboard and the transporter continued on its journey to Homeala. The doctor attended to Jocin as it travelled along. Several hours seemed to pass before the doctor emerged from behind a temporary screen, which had been erected and placed around Jocin.

As soon as the doctor emerged from behind the screen Dela was at his side, come with me said the doctor. Dela, he began, I have known and cared for you all for many years far too many to recount, it is now a time when those whom we love have need of a final rest. Jocin is an amazing man he has shown many who were total strangers his love and devotion he has shown them by example how to care and live good wholesome worthy lives in a new way. Dela Jocin is dying he may not make it home to Oma. You must be at his side you must speak those words which would comfort him in his passing you must give him solace and peace. It will be hard for you Dela but you must allow him to go for truly that is what his now frail, weak and aged body wishes.

Dela immediately went back in to the curtained area and as the doctor had instructed her she spoke words of comfort she frequently stroked his hand and wiped his brow. Parek frequently would look in to watch over Dela, devoted & his most beloved Dela. The transporter was silent none of the occupants spoke other than to confirm direction and check fuel levels.

The night was now rapidly closing in upon them, the day had been incredibly long but now they had to stop and rest the generators. That night Dela maintained her vigil she would not leave her beloved Jocin for a second in the care of others.

The doctor brushed past Dela as he checked Jocin’s condition Dela awoke with a start. Doctor I am sorry I dosed off, is he? He, is fine Dela he is resting deeply now. Dela caught her breath and let out a loud sigh of relief at the news. The sudden thought of Oma rushed into Dela’s mind no one has told Oma, no one has prepared Oma for the sad news. Dela called out in to the dark, Parek where are you? A tall handsome male figure immerged from the darkness of the transporter and appeared through the gap in the curtain; "I am here Dela, what need do
