The only way he can find peace, is for the people that caused the pain and humiliation is for them to reveal the truth, and answer his sons’ questions. HOUSE OF LIES

Sergio’s son walked quickly down the hallway of the police station, his wife behind him trying to catch up. When Sergio’s son got to the doors that led outside of the police department. He pushed open the door and was greeted by a beautiful day outside. Sergio’s son walked to the stairs that led down to the sidewalk there he stopped, and took a deep breath. Sergio’s son felt like a big weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. Sergio’s son looked over his right shoulder, and seen his wife standing there. She asked him Are you Ok? She had just witnessed what had just happened to her husband. There was a brief silence before Sergio’s son replied, I have to be okay, there is something, I have to do. Sergio’s sons’ wife remembered what Sergio had said to her, one day years ago, There will be a time, when a man has to do something to bring peace to himself, all he needs is your support, nothing else, and he needs to know you are there for him. Sergio’s sons’ wife nodded her approval, Sergio’s son reached out for her hand, they proceeded down the stairs together. When they got to their car Sergio’s son got his cell phone and called one of his cousins, they spoke for a few minutes, then he hung up.

Sergio’s son drove on the interstate around the city, he seen the exit he was looking for, there he got off the interstate. Just down the road was a flower shop, right next to the cemetery. Sergio’s Sons wife asked why are we stopping here? Sergio’s son didn’t answer, he just got out of the car and proceeded to walk to the flower shop.

Sergio’s sons wife got out of the car and followed her husband into the flower shop, Sergio’s son told his wife to find me some White Rose’s she started looking through the flower shop for some white rose’s, she asked the sales lady if they had any white rose’s?" The sales lady replied, they just received some and they had them in the back. The sales lady went to the back to retrieve the white roses. She returned with a big bunch full of white roses. Sergio’s son asked his wife to pick out a dozen and pick out a nice vase for them. Sergio’s son paid for the white roses. They then turned and walked out of the shop. They walked back to the car, Sergio’s son placed the white roses on the back seat of his car he placed items around them to keep them from falling over, and then he got in the car.

They sat there for what seemed like a long time, but it was just a few minutes. Sergio’s son didn’t say a word, Sergio’s son’s wife looked at him, his hands were shaking, she reached over and gently held his hand, she asked him are you sure, you are ok? Sergio’s son did not say a word, he reached and started the car. Sergio’s son headed toward the cemetery, when they got inside the property. He didn’t know which way to go. Sergio’s son drove around the perimeter of the cemetery, then he seen it just like his cousin described it, A beacon in the night. Sergio’s son drove toward it, he stopped the car as close as he could get to it. Sergio’s son and his wife got out of the car, Sergio’s son grabbed the vase with the white roses from the back of the car where he had placed them. Sergio’s son and his wife walked to the gravesite with the white roses. When they got to the gravesite Sergio’s son handed the white roses to his wife and pointed where to put the vase.

As he stood there Sergio’s son body started to shake, Sergio’s sons’ wife turned to see if she was placing them where her husband wanted them, she had never seen him like this. She put the roses down, she walked to where he was standing, and she wrapped her arms around him and held him. She tried to hold on to him as his knees started to get weak, she was still holding on to him, as they slowly fell to the ground, on their knees, Sergio’s son sat back on the heels of his feet, bowed his head and started to cry. All the years of anger and hatred he had toward this innocent man. It hurt her to see her husband cry, she could feel the pain in his cries, she did not know what to do, as she held him close she started crying too, she held on to him tightly, Not knowing what to say to him, She looked at the Stone, where they normally place the name on it. There was no name on it, just an Inscription. Who was it, that was laid here, that would cause this kind of pain to her Husband?

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

Several years earlier is where this journey all began. It was a rare Summer Morning the Sun was not up yet, it was cool outside. Thirty Two years, and finally the truth was going to be revealed. Sergio knew this day would come, as he stood in the doorway facing the garage. Sergio knew that this would be his last ride. Sergio continued to pack his clothes for this trip. Sergio strapped everything on to his Harley he started thinking of the events that brought him to where he was now. Two months earlier Sergio had sent a package to his older Sister. Sergio had called her to tell her he had sent her a package, Sergio wanted her to call him when she received the package, 3 days later she called Sergio, she told him, she had received the package. Sergio told her to hang on to it, he would pick it up when he came to town in August.

It had been a long time coming The Deception, Lies, Accusations everything Sergio had been put through, the shame Sergio’s family had to deal with. Sergio’s parents were dead and buried, now all these years had gone by, and finally the truth comes out. A few years back in 2003 Sergio had returned for a funeral, he didn’t know it then, till now. Sergio was at the funeral of his Birth Mother, she had given him up at birth, come and find out Sergio had two other Sisters and another brother, Sergio never knew he had. Sergio went looking for his Son’s Grandfather, Sergio found the Man that had raised his son. They sat down and spoke for quite a while this man had known Sergio when he was a teenager. Many things had happened back then when Sergio was young, but Sergio was a man of his word. Sergio wanted to see his son, and he knew the only way to contact him was through his son’s grandfather, Sergio left his phone number. Sergio asked his son’s Grandfather, to ask him If he wanted to meet the other side of his family, which he never knew. It was around Christmas time when Sergio received the call he had been waiting for. The voice on the other end of the phone; said it was his Son and he wanted to meet Sergio, and meet his Father’s side of the family. Sergio returned as soon as he could get there which actually turned out to be a couple of months later. Sergio and his son met for the first time since 1984, which was the last time Sergio had spent time with his son.

It was 2004 when Sergio returned back to his hometown, Sergio was anxious to see his son, would he recognize him, how much had his son changed? Sergio was sitting in a Restaurant having a cup of coffee, when a Red 5.0 Mustang pulled up to the curb, out stepped this young man. Sergio knew that was his son, even though they had never met. The young man was dressed in black jeans, a black t-shirt with an earring in his left ear, wearing engineers boots, a ball cap turned backward, he was slim and tall. Sergio got up from the table, Sergio walk to the entrance of the Restaurant. Sergio just stood there trying to figure out how his son would react to him finally being here? Sergio waited until this young man walked in, then Sergio walked up to him, the young man looked at him, and asked Dad? To which Sergio gave his son a big hug, all them years that Sergio spent looking for his son, and here he was. Sergio did not want to release the hug he had on his son, but he knew there would be plenty of time to spend together in the future. Sergio and his son walked back into the Restaurant, they sat down at the booth Sergio had been sitting at. They had a cup of coffee and started to speak, a few hours had gone by. Sergio’s son said; that his aunt wanted to see him, Sergio’s son told him that his aunt told him, that Sergio could stay with them while he was in town that way they could catch up.

The last time Sergio had seen his sons’ aunt, was when Sergio had come over to where she lived looking for his son, many years ago. Sergio and his son arrived at his aunt house, Sergio was suspicious as for why his sons’ aunt wanted him to stay at the house? Sergio figured he would just see where this was going to go, what was his son’s ulterior motive for having Sergio stay with them. Sergio was greeted by his sons’ aunt as they got to the door of her house, and she invited him out to the back yard where she was cooking hamburgers and hotdogs. 27 years and now, here is where the truth started to come out.

As Sergio straddle the big Harley he looked into the garage, there stood his wife in the doorway she knew Once his mind was made up, there was no stopping him, she came to the Harley, and gave Sergio a hug, she told him To be careful to which Sergio replied I will call you, when I stop for the night, Sergio looked at his wife, she was just as beautiful, as the day they met, she did not seem to age like most people. Sergio looked into her eyes and he said I Love You. The sun was just starting to rise, as Sergio reached down, turned on the fuel, he pulled up the choke and pushed the start button, the Harley started right up. Sergio let it idle for a few minutes, then he dropped the Harley into 1st gear, Sergio pulled out of the driveway, leaving his house. Sergio had one stop to make along the way. Sergio stopped at The Other Wall to say his Goodbyes. Once he did that, Sergio got back on the road, he started down the 4 lane highway. Sergio could feel the caress of the foot pegs on his feet, the sweet kiss of the wind as it caress his face. Sergio rode Highway 24 East, to Route 172 South, to Route 210 East down the coast of the Carolinas the cool ocean breeze caressing his ears as he rode. Sergio’s mind started to run everything that he had been through over and over in his mind. Conversations that made no sense at the time, funny; now the pieces were starting to fit together like pieces to a puzzle.

Sergio sons’ aunt was the same lady, which used to cut his hair when he was growing up. While Sergio was there at her house, Sergio and his sons’ aunt spoke, some things were said that didn’t make sense. Sergio never said anything, because he had to think back to those days’, years ago. When Sergio was young, dumb, Sergio laughed to himself thinking about them days, it was funny. As Sergio’s sons’ Aunt spoke, she told of the time that they had taken Sergio’s Son, Mother to the Doctor back in 1977, that morning because she was sick, they found out she was 11 weeks pregnant. To far along to terminate the pregnancy so they took her home. Sergio’s sons Aunt said both her and her husband started to look for a home for unwed mothers. That was the day Sergio had come to visit, because Sergio had heard his girlfriend was sick. When Sergio knocked on the door his sons’ aunt had answered the door. At the time Sergio did not know she was pregnant, his sons’ aunt took Sergio to see her younger sister who was ill. The older Sister said her and her husband had errands to run so they left. Sergio was alone in the bedroom, with his girlfriend, of which he knew nothing about her being pregnant. She told him to take off his clothes, and get in bed with her, she wanted to show him something. Sergio was a virgin at the time, he had never been with a woman, so when the opportunity came, he did, that’s the young and dumb part. She grab him, and inserted him into her and held on to him, that was Sergio’s first sexual experience, he didn’t know what to do or what was happening, then before he realized what was happening he was done. She told him he had to leave before her sister came back, so he did.

The next day Sergio returned to visit her, Sergio was told she had left, she was gone, and they did not know where she went to. Several months later Sergio went to Boot Camp in San Diego California. When Sergio returned from Boot Camp. Sergio’s little sister told him, she had seen his girlfriend at her sister’s house. Sergio went over there to speak with her, he wanted to ask her Why she had just got up and left like that? Sergio knocked on the door, her sister answered the door. Sergio asked, If he could speak to his girlfriend, she let Sergio in, she took him to her sisters bedroom, where his girlfriend was at, she was lying in bed.

When she seen Sergio, she got out of the bed and walked over to a baby crib, she reached in and picked up a baby. She turned around, and walked to Sergio with a baby in her arms, when she got to where Sergio was at, she said This is your son the baby was almost 6 months old. Sergio did not know what to think at the time, he was happy to be a Father, so he spent the day with her and his son. Sergio said He wanted to make things right, they should get Married. She did not want to get Married, Sergio’s girlfriend and her sister started shouting at each other, (about her getting Married, and her not wanting to get married). Sergio told them he was going home, to change and get a few things, and then he would be back, so they could go get Married. Sergio went home, he told his mom and his sister that his girlfriend had told him that he had a son. Sergio told them they were going to get married, his mom and his dad talked with him, and asked him was he sure it was his child? Sergio change clothes, he returned that evening to his ex-girlfriends sister house, only to find she was not there. Sergio was told she had packed up what she could carry, and she had taken the baby with her, they did not know where she went. (That was back in December 1977)

Sergio rode route 50 West in North Carolina to State Highway 17 South. The miles flew by so quickly Sergio had just crossed into
