CHAPTER 1
The Beginning
I t was on one clear sunny morning in the month of July 1993 in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. It was the beginning of Lavanny’s young adult journey. Lavanny is a girl who grew up in a small city called Taiping and she studied in a convent. She was very much involved in charity works arranged by the nuns at her school. She enjoyed working with the nuns and helping them in the charity work. Every of the weekends she will be in school and attending the charity activities that has been arranged by the nuns and the teachers. This activity became part and parcel in her school life. Her favourite place in the school was the chapel where she would visit every day without fail before attending her classes. She was always curious to know and had the desire to understand about other religion and what are their practices and now even so since she is studying in a convent hence Christianity, Jesus and Mother Mary seems very interesting topics to her. She is a pure Hindu by birth and a staunch follower of Lord Krishna. Lavanny is known for her courageous and confident personality in whatever she does whether it is personal or even the activities in school. She basically does everything on her own and never troubled her parents for anything or anyone else. She always believes in doing on her own rather than asking others for help.
She is the eldest among the three siblings and there is a huge age gap between her and her sisters. Due to the age gap Lavanny has always kept a distance from her parents and her sisters. She does not believe in family relationship because she never had a good experience growing up as a child with her parents. Her parents argued most of the time and this gave her a bad outlook about marriage, relationships and love. She knows the only way out from her family was through education. This was her ambition and her goal in her life. Lavanny accomplished this goal by getting into a college to pursue her education in Accountancy.
Lavanny and her parents travelled about two hundred kilometre south from where she use to live with her parents for the last six years of her adolescent age. The decision to enter the college was purely hers and her parents have no say in it. They wanted her to pursue in education and become a teacher but she had no strong interest in being a teacher instead she pursued accountancy. She had no regrets in the choice that she had made. Her father dropped her off at the entrance of the college. He had no patience and did not even accompany her to the enrolment. It was all up to her again, but this time the situation was a bit different.
It was the first day of college and there was mixed feelings. The anxiety grew and she wasn’t sure who could help her with all the administrative work for enrolment. She embraced herself and started taking the first step. Adapting to changes was part and parcel of her life since her father was in the armed forces and he thought her well in how we should adapt to changes and yet be comfortable with life.
Despite of all her feelings, Lavanny manage to pull through the enrolment day. She completed her forms and went over to the next level. There were at least thirty of them in the first batch. It was a mixture of business and information technology. The dormitory between the girls and the boys was just a split with a hall in between dorms. They had to carry their own beds and arrange in their dormitory. The boys and girls worked together to get things done and arrange the doms for themselves. Lavanny found new friends whom she could get along. To name some of them were Linges, Devi, Kala, Vinod and Iswaran. These were the people whom she could connect and they are always together till the last day of her college.
She had a zillion questions running through her head, Will I meet someone, just like in my dreams, and is this my destiny and what if I did not make it here?
There was something that was awaiting her and this would change her future. Despite of all the hustle and bustle of carrying and arranging furniture’s, there was this guy who suddenly came out of the blue. He was tall, had big brown eyes, dark skin complexion and short hair, was wearing smart casual and looked very innocent. His name was Nirav. There was something different about him from the rest of the guys whom she got attracted to. He was
