    Dedication

Almighty God, thank You for breathing prophetically into this vessel and creating me to be a portal of Your glory in the earth—a contagious vessel saturated in Your grace. Thank you for the spiritual Fathers whom You have assigned to keep watch over my soul.

I dedicate this book in loving memory of my two best friends, Tracey Johnson and Lisa Barrino.

When I see your children, I am reminded of your smile!

Never forgotten, for you are my angels

To my Bridge Over Troubled Waters leadership team, who have supported every vision that God has imparted in me. Thank you for your continuous support; you shall soar in the wings of the wind to your destined place in God. May prosperity clothe you with richness—in mind, spirit, and soul. I Love you guys so much!

Saving the best for last: Destini, Bergen, and Nigel, you are the rhythm in my heart. Momma Sarah! Momma, you know I love you! Momma, you’re the queen of my heart! Sandy Dyer, you are the wind beneath my wings—your strength keeps me soaring when I feel like giving up! Big Bra, Freeway—thanks for continuing to remind me how much you love us, even though we’re far apart. Every phone call draws you closer in heart.

Queen Wells, thank you for embracing me in my youth. May God continue to clothe you with His presence.

    Forewords

In the rhythms of life, the gale winds of change blow periodically. In this book, the author uses the Bible to help us discern, read, and use those winds to navigate the seas of life and help us land on the distant shores of God’s purpose for our lives. This book is a testimony on how to embrace and deal with the different trials that we encounter in life. The Wind of Change is a powerful story that revolves around Pastor Brown’s escape from satanic bondage. She has chosen to use the metaphor of the prophetic winds of God that have brought her into her destined place. Like the people of God through the New Testament, we escape from demonic winds of sin and satanic bondage, through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, the Messiah. In her story, we will see the Wind of Change through her testimony as a daughter of God.

In the case of Pastor Brown, her escape involves elements of deliverance and restoration. God used the wind of change to free her from bondage with His mighty outstretched hand, and He filled her with the Wind of the Spirit. However, there was no escape for her until she obeyed God’s instructions and fled from her sin.

Her deliverance from bondage illustrates God’s salvation. God’s salvation in the Old Testament is captured in the Hebrew term shalom. God’s salvation in the New Testament is captured in the Greek term soteria, which is translated as saved. Both terms are translated by the following words: deliverance, healing, health, preservation, prosperity, rescue, safety, victory, and welfare. When both terms and the words used to translate them are considered together, we get a full-orbed picture of the way of escape that is provided through the deliverance of salvation.

Nevertheless, we cannot experience the wind of change if we continue to stay entangled in satanic bondage. I have observed some of Pastor Brown’s obedience to God and her journey out of bondage, and I believe all who come into contact with her and read her story will be encouraged to courageously embrace The Wind of Change.

    Introduction

This book was imparted through the trials and tribulation I faced before I came to Christ and along my Christian path living for the Lord. The Lord revealed many things to me in regard to my freedom. Through the pain and suffering I endured, God used those things to purge and transform my life. I realized that my calling was to pastor a deliverance ministry. As a prophetic vessel, my heartbeat is to help people restore their relationship with God—obtaining deliverance from every stronghold that exalts itself against the will of God concerning their lives—and to be an evangelist, reaching and teaching the word of God that all may be saved. God has called me to be a fire starter in the earth. Stirring up that which has become dormant is an essential part of my mission.

Today I invite you on a procession that will change your life.

A procession in ancient times was a ritualistic activity, wherein the participants were purged and purified on the way to worshipping their God. Processions were held to honor and celebrate outstanding feats of victory or triumph in the past or to come. Processions were also held to acknowledge a promotion to leadership.

On this journey that we travel, I pray that you will be purged and cleansed on the path to salvation, deliverance, and victory. We will conquer the enemy of our minds once and for all. No longer will we be held captive in our minds. Freedom and liberty are ours in every aspect of our lives. Come; let’s ride in the wings of the wind! To God be the glory!

    Pastor Carrie

In your life, have you ever felt things just didn’t seem to be adding up or turning out right—when you knew in the back of your mind that if you had envisioned your day, it would have never included the many transitions that you encountered? There are times when I felt like I had given my all, but at the end of the day things just didn’t seem to add up. Sometimes I ponder (and even dialogue in the back of my mind) what direction my life is going and where I will end up. I’ve spent countless years wondering where my life will lead. Sometimes you have given your all, and you feel you have poured out all of yourself into others, and then you arrive on this road, saying, Now where am I going? Just when I felt the downward spiral, just when I was getting frustrated, just when I was beginning to panic about the journey that seemed to be invisible. Have you ever felt that you know there is a plan for your life, yet you wonder in what vehicle you will arrive? So … like I said, just when my frustration kicks in, out of nowhere, the Holy Spirit shows up and ministers in my season of doubt. No matter how you fill, no matter what life seems to issue out, you must learn to stand firm in the word of the Lord. God can never fail, and His word shall not come back void, for He knows the plans He has for your life. I’m reminded of Abraham’s wife Sarah, who, at an old age, and after years of barrenness, ( a season of unproductiveness) God impregnated her with a seed of promise, and she gave birth to what man had thought was impossible, yet marvelous. Sometimes our lives seem to have the same effect: seasons of barrenness, when we feel too much time has passed and feel unproductive in our lives. Even when we don’t understand, God’s word will never come back void.

Even before we were in our mother’s womb, God predestined our lives; it is we who veer off from His perfect will into wilderness mentalities and become golden wanderers, because we fail to realize we have been destined from the womb. We need God not only to open our womb, but to stretch our womb. There is a tragedy in this hour, and we need a revolutional revival to overthrow the horror. We must be concerned about the Kingdom; and being rebirthed as spiritual minded people that we may discern the signs of time that we are living in; for the hour is getting late.

    Matthew 16:1–4 (New Living Translation)

One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority. He replied, You know the saying, Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow; red sky in the morning means foul weather all day. You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times. Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign, but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. Then Jesus left them and went away.

(However, it is after we make a mess of our lives that God uses creation as a tool to usher us back to His presence).

    Psalm 148:8 (King James Translaion)

Fire, and hail; snow and vapours: stormy wind fulfilling his words.

This scripture blows my mind! We should be able to praise the Lord at all times; God will use the elements in the earth to fulfill His word. Often we look for our blessings to come from man, or our promotion to come through a job; maybe you feel God will just reach down from heaven and alter your situation. However, did you ever think about God using the elements in the earth to accomplish His will?

Did you ever consider the wind? Did you ever consider a hailstorm? Did you ever consider a mighty rushing wind? How about a whirlwind?

    Romans 8:28 (King James Translation)

And we know that all things work togeher for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

Yes, we will take another journey. The wind of change has been blowing, transitioning you, and you were not aware; you thought it was just another windy day. There are so many things out of order in our society, community, families, and, most of all, within ourselves. However, God is not slack concerning his people; He will call the wind from the four corners of the earth and cause the wind to bring into formation His perfect will.

    Chapter 1

    The Wind of Change

    Is Blowing

    A Windstorm

    Proverbs 3:25–26

    (New International Version)

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.

The day was looking pretty good; as usual, I had invited a few church members over for a nice home-cooked meal. After our bellies had been fully satisfied, we sat laughing and talking about old times. All of a sudden, a rushing wind hit against the window panes of the house, causing me and my guests to jump to our feet. Running to the front porch to see what was taking place outside, we discoved the wind had begun to blow at seventy miles per hour throughout our city, uprooting trees and damaging cars, houses, etc. The news report stated that over one hundred thousand people had lost power through the sweep of this windstorm, which had left the city dark and gloomy. I really believe thousands of families were praying
