About this ebook
RKO
From modest roots in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I have enjoyed a lifelong career in advertising, publishing, commercial printing, and marketing. While living in the Washington, DC area in the early 1980s (and being involved in the start-up of USA Today), I took a broader interest in our national political system and how it works (or fails to work, depending on your observation). I returned to Indiana in 1991 and bought a small local community newspaper. Since the political season began in August 2015, I began writing these daily poetic satires about our political process. I humbly submit this first compilation of poems, written as the primaries began and continuing right up until the election. I hope you enjoy my tongue-in-cheek utterances as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them. And I look forward to sharing more political poetry by RKO with you as our nation welcomes a new administration into the Oval Office (whoever it may be!). Enjoy—and please share this political neophyte’s views with your friends and neighbors. Who knows what kind of deliberations it might incite over an ice-cold beer, a smooth red wine, or a raucous rum and cola! Cheers!

Political Poetry - RKO
1. Second- Stringers
It was another night of so-called wins
and losses
,
as Tim and Mike debated
to try and please their bosses.
They could have just as easily been civil through the night;
but Hillary and Donald expected them to fight!
Without their bosses watching, these guys might make some sense.
They’re more polite, and they just might
make better Presidents!

2. A Knowledgeable Society is a Great Society
Lindsay cut her finger; Kim was robbed last night.
Justin has to go to court; nothing seems quite right.
YaHoo! journalists
are there….
with reports
extraordinaire’…..
Thank God we get updates on this crucial stuff.
That’s what keeps us well-informed and ‘cultured’ just enough!

3. To Avoid Taxes is Perfectly Legal
Trump avoided taxes! Something we all do!
Should the New York Times come after me and you?!?
Avoiding tax is legal, and – in circumspect –
MOST of us pay ‘experts’ to lower our tax debt!
All those who would chastise Trump; they’re the real jerks.
Congress is the one to blame for how the tax code works!
Trump just took advantage of a situation.
That’s how the rich and powerful do things in this nation!

Imagine it’s November 9th; Hillary has
