Element Master is a story that revolves around a young lad named Charles Magruth. He lives in a thorp called Dauni Village. A thorp isolated a long way from the outdoor world. Charles was gifted to master a certain element. As weak and slow as he was, he had vast dreams.
Charles lead a simple life until a certain festive occasion took a turn in his life when he was spot witnessing a homicide which pressured him to depart from his village and cherished ones. He had a gratifying journey to the new city as he saw lifestyles in the town was full of excitement. Though, there came a time where he had to decide if he wants to run abroad his entire existence for fear concerning of The Order or remain and emerge as a fighter to stand against them.
The whole plot takes a turn when Charles discovers that he possesses the ability to control several elements.

CHAPTER 1

The Bloody Festival

O n the night of the Pani Festival, Charles Magruth finishes his final work given by old Fidauf in the tent so he can join his friends for the performance. He makes the crackers working again and calls out for his friend, Detrik, quick get these things up. I’m going for it.

Alright its set but are you sure you can make it? Detrik replied as he pulled the firecrackers out of the tent. Charles replies while changing his outfit, Hey, have you not seen me mastering my flame thrower? Just because I am weak doesn’t mean I cannot keep up with the others. Every Element Master will surely have their time.

Detrik then laughed softly as he said, You actually think you are an Element Master or will become one? Impossible, Fidauf has to teach you twice just to learn one thing. Don’t boast around and start getting real, Charles. Charles then came out and took his ‘Fire Gauntlets’ and left the tent for he could not say much because he is much weaker than his friends.

The performance started and the villagers were watching. Charles and his friends then started to tame the wild fire while the firecrackers were set off to the sky. The Wind Element men were at mid air flying around the flames as the ‘watercrackers’ were set free to the sky making the flames look watery. Men of the respective elements stood by the side controlling their elements making a perfect combination.

The whole village saw the true meaning of Pani Festival which brings all elements together. Later the other five elements were also presented. Mary Magruth who was in the tent with Fidauf then asked, Master Fidauf, this year has all the elements which makes the festival better than the previous years. How did you get the help of Light Element? Is the man from the city?

Yes Mary, I found him in Alphine city and brought him back to Dauni Village. He was once from this village but he left when he was small. We cannot blame him, what much can you do in this old village? answered Fidauf. Suddenly A women rushed in and called out loudly Master Fidauf, the baby…. He is earth!, he is the fifth master!

Fidauf replied, That’s good news Liora. He is born in the seven and is not a Dark Element. This alone is good.

Mary asked Fidauf right after the lady left, Master, what if the baby is born with darkness? What would happen? I have never seen a dark element.

Fidauf said, Big difference in the child. He would be very evil inside and I have to shape and control the child from small before he grows to become something different. This had happen before. It was 42 years ago, and I still had my master. He asked me to bring up the darkness element born baby so I brought him up as good as I can but still when he turn 22, he left the village saying he want to find fun which he miss in his life. It was then I saw true darkness in him so I tried to stop him but the dark element in him grew too strong and he left. People with dark element need much time to control it. But if you learn its different.

I understand master, looking at Charles having trouble controlling his own element. It sure is hard if it is dark element. My water skills are at the basic so how much can I teach him? But master I am sure he will be able to do well, said Mary.

Fidauf replied, We cannot blame him for he does not have a father to teach him. I really hoped John was still around. He was a very skilled person and very helpful too. We all miss him. Hmm…..so looks like we have visitors in our village today.

Fidauf and Mary looked at the village entrance where they saw nine full dressed fighters as they carried blades with them. Maybe they will stay for the night so I shall head to the inn master said Mary to Fidauf and left the tent towards the inn. Mary called Lily, a friend of Charles, Lily, help me call Charles. He must be somewhere here. Tell him there are guests and I need his help.

Lily replied, Yes aunty Mary. Mary then left to the inn while Lily went looking for Charles. What nobody realized was the evil force had came to pay a visit in the village.

Charles, your mother is looking for you she said she needs your help in the inn and can I follow you back? I want to go home but its dark asked Lily.

Of cause you can…but when will you ever learn to be brave? You are 18 this year and you still have not got any braver….this is our village. said Charles in a worried tone.

Wah… so sweet! Now let’s go and don’t worry I will be brave as long as you are here said Lily while holding Charles’ hand and start walking. From far Edwin stares at both of them walking away and he tells himself, Why him? I like her more than him but he always gets lucky. Looks like I have to be weak like Charles to get her attention. What a waste.

Charles walked with Lily to send her home first but on their way back, they heard noise from the alley. While the villagers were having a nice time, Charles wondered why someone would be all alone in the back alley and not joining the others in the field so he went to the back ally to have a look leaving Lily on the road behind.

From a distance away, Charles saw two men dressed up in red. They slashed a man who wore a black suit with a symbol on it. It looked as if the man was a puppet that was not able to move because he was half frozen. Blood splashed all over and Charles panicked. Charles stood in shock and was not able to speak but just watched them freeze the body and break it. Then one of the red dressed men spoke softly to the other but Charles was able to hear.

This one is easy. The others are at the inn, we will get them later but let’s get this mess cleaned up before someone sees, he said. Charles then moved back as fast as he could towards Lily but they noticed him. They heard his steps in the dark and looked at him moving away.

Lily, we have to go now. Quick and quietly, I don’t want them to know. Charles spoke to Lily softly while holding her hands tight and pulling her away from the alley toward her home. Why all of a sudden? What happen in the alley? Charles… Lily asked as she trembled in fear. Charles pulled her behind the closed shop. He sat down with her in the shadow of the trolley.

Lily, be quiet and don’t make any noise at all. Please listen to me I don’t want anything to happen to us. There are these killers by the back alley and they took… Charles stopped talking the moment he saw one of the men moving through the shadows by the road. He was looking all around for Charles.

Then from a distance away where nothing could be seen a voice came, You fools, why are you extremely stupid? I tried so hard to get him yet you give me witness on what you two did? I am also seen… you know how hard I tried to keep my identity? Get that rat and kill him. I don’t want more ‘Association’ here in this village investigating. Do you understand?

Yes sir, it will be done. I will get back to my duty once I finish him. He has to be around here. said the man in red. The shadow with a long figure on the road disappeared and the man in red continued to look around. Charles saw Lily panicking and said, Don’t worry I’ll get us out of here Lily. I promise you I will save you. Lily shook her head and fainted in his arms.

Charles knew that the killer will be able to find them soon so he made a choice to come out so she will not be noticed. Looking at the skilled man and Lily, He had no choice but to fight even though he knew the man mastered his ice element way more better then him mastering fire element. Charles walked out leaving Lily on the ground hidden. The man turned and looked at Charles.

Why are you chasing me? Please leave me alone. I won’t speak of what I saw back in the alley. said Charles hoping to get a better answer while he put his hands behind and started his fire slowly.

You are a witness and I must follow commands so prepare for your death, as soon as he spoke, he drew his blade and ran towards Charles. Charles then stopped him by throwing flames at him and putting his clothes on fire but the man was more skilled so he froze his clothes and his blade. He then swung his blade and stabbed Charles in his arm twice.

Poor Charles fell back in pain but he was lucky for the bleeding had stopped by the freezing energy of the blade. He then saw an iron rod beside the shop which was used to pull the grilles. Charles picked up the iron rod and followed what the man did; he put the rod on fire. The man laughed and said, This is children’s game not mine.

He continued to slash Charles with his blade, even though Charles was in great pain, he still did not bleed much because the cuts in his body had frozen. Their fight moved from one road to another and Charles was the one moving back for he was not able to rebel.

Finally he fell near the trolley filled with firecrackers. Charles knew the way to control Flare, the first stage of fire element although he was not very good in handling it. He took the firecrackers and rolled them around his hand and released fireballs with great amount of heat. The fireballs were a bit effective but the man managed to freeze most of it. This alone eats up most if his energy and he fell back leaning against a wall trying to control the flames again.

You ran out of juice and now it is time, said the man while collecting the mist in the air and forming a giant ice blade with sharp thorns on it. He pointed the blade towards Charles and got angry. Charles saw his power growing stronger then he was before because of getting angry. Left with less options he got up and tried the same thing the man did. Charles got angry and his flames grew hotter in his hands while the man got a shock seeing young Charles was able to copy his moves.

There came the final slash with his long thorny blade towards Charles. Charles quickly focused the heat to one point and shot the man with Flara, the massive meltdown using the iron rod in his hand and stabbed the man as it melted in his body. The man purposely broke his ice blade to hit Charles. The sharp ice spikes broke into many small spikes and flew all directions.

Charles got cut and pocked in many parts of his body but was able to block himself from more serious injuries. Unfortunately the man got an iron rod melted in his body and got pocked by his own blade for he wanted to die together with Charles. Charles then pushed the body away and got up on his feet again even when he was bleeding badly. He rushed to see whether Lily was save.

When he got there he saw her just the way he left her hidden behind the shop. With one hand completely injured, he carried her in the other and started walking. He took her as fast as his leg could carry him. Just before he reaches her house, Lily woke up and found herself in his arm. That was when Lily’s sister who was still at home rushed out and saw both of them covered with blood.

What happen? Charles why are you both bleeding? asked Lily’s sister thinking of the very worst.

No, she is not bleeding. The blood is mine. She is save, here take her in, said Charles weakly.

What happen… and what about you? Come in, let me clean up your wounds, she pestered with worry.

Never mind, I have to go home as fast as I can, and don’t tell anyone yet. The Festival is still going on and we don’t want to panic the villagers so I’ll go home first and we will talk about what happen tomorrow, replied Charles after accompanying them both into the house. He walked back to the inn and this time he made sure no one was following him.

Just as he reached the inn, he saw many people through the window with the same suit worn by the man who was slashed in the back alley. As he rushed in by the front door, everyone saw his clothes filled with blood and injured badly. Before anyone could say anything, Mary ran towards her son in shock.

Two of the women who were there came and helped Mary to carry Charles and put him down while Mary asked, What happened…What have you done this time? Charles just fainted before he could answer his mother. They cleaned his wounds and cured him with ‘Cura’ and herbal leaves. His wounds cured slowly for one of the woman could use her earth element and regenerate his cells but in a slow rate. After several minutes, Ryan came up to Charles and took a closer look. He found the cut was made by blades for he had the same type of cut in his hand which was a long time ago.

Mary, this is not any accident and this is not a small matter anymore. One of my EGA is already out and he sure knows what happened. This was an attack on your son by… Its better if you know and keep this to yourself for this will cause problems later if normal citizen hear this. said Ryan while feeling sorry for her son.

What is it… tell me what attack? This is not true, he is only a young boy, why would people want to attack him? asked Mary curiously while looking at Charles.

I am not sure what he has done but the Order will have their revenge on Charles for he had fought with one of them if I am not mistaken. Maybe it was the ‘Red Killers’ sent by the Order to assassinate us. explained Ryan but was interrupted by Mary.

You brought them here and look what you have done. How can I ever forgive you? Mary looked at the men and women in the hall with anger but Ryan continued, I understand but you cannot blame us… what much…. Charles just woke up and interrupted the argument by saying, It was not them mom, don’t blame them. They are just helping.

So you did see the other EGA on your way but where is he now? asked Ryan has the head of his troop.

No, I did not meet him for he is no longer here, he was killed by the men in red and I had to handle one right after that, replied Charles weakly while looking at them shocked. While they started an argument on what happen, Charles explained everything to his mother and Ryan. The argument in the hall got worse when Charles told about the man in shadow. They never knew that a betrayer or to say a spy would be in the EGA. What was more amazing was Ryan had already noticed that there was a spy among them.

One of the man voiced out, This is not possible. How could there be a spy among us? Ryan answered, Yes what he is saying is true. I did know that there was a spy among us but I am not sure who? This clearly shows that they will be back since they know our moves

Another man answered, You knew that there was a spy among us and you did not say anything? Maybe it could even be you. All the men in the hall started to argue again.

Ryan stopped the argument by saying, Stop this nonsense at once. This is not what we should do. I don’t know who could be the spy and it could be anyone of us. So let this be as it is because soon we will know who is the betrayer and spy. For now they know we are here so we have to be more aware. We cannot leave this village till morning. It is too dark to travel at night in the forest so I want everyone to stay alert. Charles, I want to tell you something. Ryan told Charles while looking at his mother.

The other EGAs left the hall and went to the rooms except for Victor and two other EGAs. Then Ryan said, Now since only one is dead, the other knows that you survived in the attack and surely he has found his friend dead by now, so he will come for you.

Mary got upset and said, What are we going to do? If they come here and they find Charles, they will try to kill him. What am I going to do?

Charles looked at his mother in great fear and said, Then they should not find me here. I must go away…

His mother stopped him from speaking, No, you have never left the village all by yourself. How are you going to go when your home is here? I must come along…

That would be even worse. If you follow your son then two lives will be in danger. Since they have not seen you, you can stay. Let him go, he is a young man and he has to make his own decisions, said Victor. Charles tried to explain to his mother but she would not listen. She had never left him alone even after his father past away.

Ryan then told Victor to teleport back to the association to tell them about the lost of a member and told him not to tell about the attack on Charles. This was to protect Charles from the spy. Victor is a good lightning element controller. Victor was able to create a high voltage and move a vacuum hole around him to teleport to a destination he as seen.

It was the first time Charles saw a true ‘Tundra’ element with his own eyes. It was able to suck Victor in and teleport him away. Charles mother went back to the kitchen crying on the decision Charles took. Ryan then told the other two EGAs to head back to the village and clear the blood and the mess made by the killers before someone finds out what happen. Then the two of them left the inn.

I want you to know something for your own good. This man in red you were talking about are ‘Red Killers’ from the Order. They come from a place far away even I am not very sure but they will not stop. They will continue until they get what they want. Well if you ask me I am not sure what exactly they want but what I am sure they will not let things go so easily. They will find you and kill you since you are the witness of a murder and you also saw the spy. The Order doesn’t want you to tell who is the spy thinking you have seen the spy. So for your own good its better if you leave this village and live like a nomad. Master your element so you can save yourself from problems and one day, once the Order is brought down you can return home and don’t worry about your mother, she is not involved in this problem since you are leaving but it would be the opposite if you stay, Ryan told Charles quietly so he could protect his mother but Mary stood behind the wall heard everything and then she just stood there crying for she has to let her son go.

After an hour, the two men who left the inn came back. They rushed in and called out for the others. All the EGA came together in the hall blowing off all the candles to make it look like nobody was in. One of the EGA who just came in spoke, I noticed them following me behind. I think they are ready to attack any minute.

Ryan drew his blade and torched the blade with small flames while the others got ready as well. Two of them controlled their blades in mid air while another two changed the shape of the ground near the door and the windows making sharp spikes. The others were just waiting with their blade but in their face, Charles could see believe. So much so that they know their members were not weak.

From a distance away, there were dark shadows moving around the inn. Charles and his mother went into the room. In the room, Charles piped through the door hole looking at what is going to happen. It all started once Victor came running through the front door. He rushed in bleeding and said, They knew my moves.

Ryan was surprised they even knew Victors moves for he is able to teleport. There, Charles saw a Red Killer running in through the front door. Just as he entered, the windows broke and two other men from the Order jumped. One of the two fell in the spikes that pierced him but the other flew for he could control wind. The one which fell was killed by a member of EGA. He got slashed right after he fell on the spikes. The Red Killer that rushed in the front door drew his blade and started fighting with Ryan and Victor while the other Killers were handled by the EGAs after they jumped in.

This is just the beginning, we still have the first wave so nothing matters, said the man in mid air. Then one of the EGA replied, Your air movement is not perfect yet so for sure you will not leave. The EGA closed all exits of the inn using earth element while another EGA used the same method to move freely in mid air, ‘Tiamera’. This was not the first time Charles saw this skill.

He knew a few men in his village who could use this element freely but the way they used it was different. They were not just moving around in mid air but were able to move things at the same time. The other EGAs were helping out as they focused their energy to stop the movement of the killers. Ryan and Victor managed to bring down the Red Killer for he had been electrocuted by Victor and burned in Ryan’s flames. The man fell down and could not move even a bit. The fight with the skilled man from the Order got worse when he started to move everywhere. This clearly showed that he is in a high post from the Order for he wore blue suit.

Ryan then called out for the man while stopping his members, I shall let you go free if you tell me the hideout of the Order.

You actually think I am going to help you. I am loyal to my ‘Master’ and I will only listen to him. Now how about a better deal? I get the boy and you get the first tip of the Order’s first wave? asked the man while looking at Charles hiding behind the door of a room. He then pulled open the door and said, You cannot hide any longer in this inn.

If that is your answer than you will not leave, answered Ryan while throwing flames at the man to take his attention. The man quickly rushed towards Charles while stopping air movements around but Ryan was way stronger than the man. He used Flaraga in his hands and his legs and moved towards both of them in less than a second and stabbed the man straight through his heart. The man fell beside Charles and said, They already know. You will not be able to escape…huh… Master… I failed. As soon as he spoke, he died.

After getting rid of the bodies, the earth element EGAs changed back the shape of the ground while the air EGAs put things where they were meant to be. The others started cleaning up the blood with Mary helping out. Charles could finally get some rest for tomorrow he had to leave his village.

A few hours later, just before the sunrise, the festival ended and everyone went back to their home. Some of the villagers stayed back and cleaned the village for it was in a mess after the festival. Some of the EGAs went out looking around in case they come across the Order or maybe they are able to find their hideout if they had one in the village.

The EGAs tried their best not to get anyone’s attention but Dauni Village is an isolated village from the country and the people here live in peace so they have never came across anybody like the association or even the Order for there was no reason for them to show interest in such a small village. So as soon as they walked down the village road, the villagers all stood still and looked at them. It was as if like they have never seen the association although some of the villagers who have travelled around the world and the country knows who they are.

The villagers had no idea why the EGA came to the village. All they could think of is, they are travellers. One of the shop in the village sold potions. The association needed to get some for they will sure get hurt in battles so they went into the shop. The shop owner saw the men walking in to the shop. He was surprised that he who used to travel had not seen such men before. So he went up to them and asked, I have seen country guards and soldiers but I have not seen such an outfit from any of them. Judging from your symbol, you are from somewhere else. Where are you from?

I don’t speak of where I am from so these are the things I want to buy, replied one of the EGA.

I want to know because I don’t want to be selling to the wrong person, said the owner.

Who do you think helped the country to stop the famous attack in Gamma Branch? We are under the Ministry of Defense and the royal family so I hope you understand and let us buy these items, answered the EGA again.

The attack on Gamma Branch? So it was the Organization all along. We should thank you people for helping our race. I will get these items right away, replied the owner while taking a list from the EGA.

The first sunrise and the village was normal again. Nobody knew about the attack and there was nether blood nor bodies in the village. All that could be seen was the inn windows that were broken. Some of Mary’s neighbours asked her about it and she said it was a wild animal from the forest.

They were surprised for it has been a long time since the wild animals had left the forest near the village but they had to except it. Just before Charles woke up, Ryan spoke to Mary asking her to let her son leave the village for her and her son’s safety. If he leaves, the Order will not be able to find him in the village and Mary would not have to worry for she is not involved.

Mary agreed to send him provided he sees Fidauf for advice on how the big city is and what should he do to keep out of trouble so he could be safe. Ryan then left the inn looking for Fidauf. Ryan wanted to tell Fidauf about the incident and ask him to keep it a secret knowing Charles is surely going to tell his master.

An hour later, Charles woke up looking at his wounds that has almost healed. The herbs his mother used and the Cura used by an EGA. After he fresh up himself, he went up to his mother and spoke to her about leaving the village. His mother agreed before even he could explain for she overheard the conversation between Charles and Ryan and she also spoke to Ryan an hour ago.

Mother, where would I go? I don’t know anybody and even if I live by myself, I really cannot live without you. Is there any other way? he asked his mother.

No, but I want you to live with a person whom I know. He is an old man but he will help. I also want you to see Master Fidauf before you go. He knows the city well and he will not say a word about the attack. I am sure he will guide you so see him as fast as possible, replied his mother.

Do you want me to tell him about what had happen? Master might not agree on me leaving. How can I explain to him? asked Charles while worrying if Fidauf says it to other people.

I am sure he knows by now. Ryan had left the inn looking for him to tell him what had happen. Master will keep this a secret and I am sure he knows what to tell the villagers after you are gone, answered Mary hoping Charles would agree.

Charles agreed to his mother and left the inn looking for Fidauf. Using the road where nobody would see him in scares, Charles walked up the hill where Fidauf’s house is. A few men from the village saw Charles and got surprised but they could not say anything because Charles rushed as soon as they approached. They were not sure on what he is up to so they just continued what they were doing.

Charles finally reached Fidauf’s house and entered. Ryan called Charles from a distance away while being sited on the bench with Fidauf. Charles then approached them while Fidauf moved the ground forming a chair. Fidauf was an expert in earth and wind element which was why he was the protector of the village.

Have a sit, Charles. Don’t worry about what happened last night. As long as you do what is right, you won’t have any problems in future. For now, you have to leave and this is the right decision. You have grown up so you have to know nothing comes for free, said Fidauf looking at Charles who sat on the chair sadly.

I know I have to leave so my mother won’t be in trouble. I also can get away from these Killers but when will it end? How long have I to wait till this is over and then come back to this village? asked Charles worried that he may never come home again.

The war between good and evil have already begun so it would not be long before the association destroys the Order. All you need to worry is how you take care of yourself. You will have to leave all this behind and move on… soon it will be over. Your mother had agreed to let you go even when she knows that you are not ready but this is the only thing she can do so you can be save. Your mother told me about a friend she knows in Alphine City. I think you should pay a visit to this friend of hers. Maybe you can get some help on your way, replied Ryan.

Mother did say about an old man but I cannot stay with him. I don’t want to bring any problem to him and anyone else, said Charles.

You have really grown up and you can make your own decisions so I am sure you will find a way. Make sure you remember what I have taught you for it will be useful if you are attacked again, said Fidauf giving hope to Charles.

Master, can I ask you one last thing before I leave the village? Can you look after my mother and Lily for me? I know they are not involved in the attack but what if the Order finds out about them? I will not be surprised because they have a spy in the association, asked Charles.

As long as I am here, the Order will not even come near anyone in this village. I want you to leave the village with no worries. If at all there is anything that you want to ask me or tell me, sent me a letter and I will reply, said Fidauf while he got up and walked towards the children training in his house.

Ryan then got up and left the place heading towards the inn. Charles sat there for a while thinking at all the things he is going to miss in the village. He was not even given a chance to say good bye to all his friends because they should not know anything about what had happened for their own good.

Charles got up as soon as he remembered about Lily. He told her not to speak of what had happened but what if she spoke to someone about it and things will go out of control. Charles then rushed towards Lily’s house without anyone in the village looking at him. He entered her house looking for her but he found her sister instead of her. Charles asked Lily’s sister, Have you told anyone of what happened last night? Did Lily tell you everything?

No, I did not tell anyone about what happened but Lily told me everything except when she fainted and why did you get injured so badly? she asked while looking at the scares on his body.

It’s a long story and I don’t have much time to explain everything but there was an attack by bad people in the village last night but they did not see Lily so she is save as long as no one knows about her involved. This Killers will not stop so don’t even speak of the attack or even ask anyone of what had happened except Master Fidauf and my mother. Just be more aware every time anything goes wrong, said Charles while looking around to see if he can see Lily.

I will not say anything about it but how about you? she asked again for she knew Charles was in trouble.

I am leaving the village so nobody will be involved. I am not sure when I will be back but I am sure one day I will be back and where’s Lily? he asked.

She is at the farm watering the plants and good luck in your journey, she replied while pointing the way to Charles. He then went out of the house and walked around the farm. There, he saw Lily watering the plants under the big tree’s shade. Charles walked up to her with a relief that she is save and she had not said anything to anyone. Just before he approached her, she spoke as if she knew he is coming, I know you cannot resist seeing me everyday, Charles. So what surprise have you brought me? asked Lily while Charles went closer.

I just want to make sure that you are save. I know I had made things worse last night but I still worry for you. What if they find you? What will you do then? I just want to tell you that after I am gone, I want you to be alert at all times because I cannot make sure that things will be the same anymore, said Charles feeling protective over her.

Lily then stopped watering the plants and asked back in surprise, What do you mean by leaving? Why are you leaving? The village is the only place you know. Where else would you go?

I am leaving to the city and then north but I am only doing this because I have to. It is hard for me to leave the village where I have lived my whole life but I have no choice. I will be back one day but I am not sure when. I came to say goodbye and one more thing, don’t speak of last night to anyone except Master Fidauf and my mother. This is very important for you and everyone else, replied Charles in hope she will not say a word about the incident.

Very well but I want you to have this with you on your journey, Lily then took her necklace and put it around his neck and gave him a kiss on his cheek. Charles walked out of the farm and head back toward the inn again. This time Detrik came across him and stopped Charles in surprise.

What happen to you? What are these scares? Charles you have some explanations to give, asked Detrik.

Charles replied, I cannot say anything but I hope you can do me a favour, I know you like Lily so can you take good care of her after I am gone and can you not tell anyone about me and this scares? Charles asked back and Detrik agreed not to tell anyone about it.

Charles then entered the inn and started packing his things, taking all the necessary things he needed for he will not be home for a long time.

He went up to his mother and took the address where he could find his mother’s friend in Alphine city. Ryan just stood one corner and saw the sadness in both mother and son. After saying his goodbyes, Charles left the inn looking back at his mother. Tears rolled down his cheek for this is the first time he is leaving his village and most importantly his mother. Ryan gave Charles an extra map that will help Charles on his journey. Charles walked out of the village through the back gate so no one will see him. He then walked north towards Alphine city.

At first it was as if the roads were never ending until Charles met and old man on his way to Alphine City. He was on his cart with fruits to be sold in the city. The old man gave Charles a lift and they both spoke all their way to the city. Charles was told by the old man that the city was a big place even for an old man like him. It is different than village and the city is more secure then a village that could be invaded anytime.

It was a long journey before they could reach the city and Charles fell asleep in the cart. The following day, the old man woke Charles up and showed him the city from the hill just before they went near the entrance. Charles was amazed for it was huge and beautiful. Alphine City was one if the biggest city in the world. Even from far, they could see men flying in air and could see guards guarding the entrance of the city and weird creatures flying around carrying people. There was no other way to enter the city except by passing through the gates unless he could fly but that also is hard because guards will catch him. Everywhere else were huge and thick walls that were build hundreds of years ago.

A few hundred meters away, Charles could hear the noisy city. He could even see tall buildings that had different shapes. All this was new for Charles because he had never seen this in his village which was isolated from the richness of the country. It was as if the country abandons the village for some reason or just did not take any interest on the village. This city showed Charles a new start so he could not be frozen in
