    PROLOGUE

    L et me tell you who we are, where we’re from, and how we got here, here being Hot Springs, Colorado, USA, Planet Earth.

    My name is Crystal Rose, and I’m an alien from the Planet Gareth which no longer exists, I regret to say. In the wake of Gareth’s destruction, I took my sisters’ energy spirits into my body, reduced my body to radio-light waves, and traveled through space at the speed of light.

    When I arrived Sunday morning, April 3rd, Mac Dakota, ex-Navy SEAL, was sunbathing on his deck in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, dying from a hangover—the result of overindulging at brother Josh’s bachelor party the night before. Upon my arrival and materialization on his back, he rolled over, and I landed on the deck. He thought he had brought me home from the party and went back to sleep. I knew this because I could hear his thoughts using Poni’s telepathic enhanced hearing.

    As I could communicate internally with my sisters—Poni and Zoe, we agreed that I should tell him as little as possible and ask for his help—food, clothing, shelter—for one week. When I asked for his help, he eventually agreed … in exchange for sex.

    As our attitudes about sex are somewhat different from yours, I accepted the exchange and gave up my virginity that night and passed out from sensory overload. As Mac is considerably larger than Garethian males, I adapted myself to accommodate his size. Gareth was a planet similar to your Earth, just smaller and older, and our brains are little more evolved which allows us to change shape, called shapeshifting.

    By Tuesday I had decided to tell Mac that I was an alien, and he laughed until he cried, then changed the subject. Wednesday afternoon he happened to be home when a large black raven alit upon his deck. He watched the raven change into me, next into Poni, and then back into me. To say that he was angry would be a gross understatement—gale force winds might be closer. I thought he might have a seizure, and it took a while to calm him down—at least to a brisk breeze.

    At that time, we made our first vow to each other, a vow of truthfulness, and then he listened. I told him that I had my two sisters inside of me and that we had come up with a plan to get them out. They wanted to share the bodies of two wolves until we could get them their own permanent bodies.

    Mac agreed to help and adopted the two wolves I had selected from the nearest wolf shelter. I released my sisters’ energy spirits into the adopted wolves—a large black wolf with dark eyes and a small blondish wolf with blue eyes. When we got home, Mac was overwhelmed and proposed guidelines for living together. It was agreed that they would be in human form during the day and wolf form at night. And so, in their human forms, Mac met Pontella Poni Rose, my older sister—the wildest and most outspoken, and Zorasteria Zoe Rose, my younger sister—the smallest and sweetest. We each have special gifts: I’m an empath and my gift is an enhanced sense of touch, a healing touch; Poni’s gifts are enhanced hearing and sight; and Zoe’s are enhanced taste and smell. We are very close sisters and yet, very different in appearance and personalities.

    Mac helped us get IDs, clothes, jobs, and driver licenses. Zoe and I went to work at his sister Deb’s studio, Rhythm & Motion. I taught dance aerobics, and Zoe worked in the café. Poni got work across the street in the Wolf Creek bar. By Thursday, Mac had decided that I was his woman—uncharacteristic for him as a hardcore woman chaser.

    My sisters and I met daily at the café for lunch, and Poni suggested that we use our special gifts to improve our personal financial situation, as well as help the community. While working in the bar, she had overheard drug dealers making plans about starting up a drug distribution center in the area. She thought that relieving them of some of their cash would be a good idea.

    Josh’s marriage to Bea was planned for Saturday, April 16th. At the rehearsal Thursday night, Mac’s dad, John Dakota, put a bug in Mac’s ear about marriage, and by Friday Mac was talking about marriage. Saturday the wedding went off splendidly, and I performed professionally for the first time on Earth at the reception. This day was also special because it was Saturday night that Poni met Hawk, Mac’s Comanche Indian Navy SEAL partner, and this is where our story begins.

    CHAPTER 1

    SATURDAY EVENING – April 16th

    W hile he stood at the top of the reception hall steps, Hawk scanned the sea of faces, looking for Mac. When they made eye contact, Mac raised a thumb and pointed toward Poni, standing next to him. Hawk saw a full-breasted woman with dark wavy hair and big brown eyes. She was wearing a black dress, the top held up by thin straps, the skirt flaring from her waist over full hips to just above her knees. She wore no makeup or jewelry.

    Following Mac’s gaze, Poni saw Hawk for the first time and thought, That is one gorgeous man! He was tall, dark-skinned, and dressed in black, an Armani suit and shirt, accessorized with a silver-turquoise pendant midchest and silver Comanche belt buckle, his shoes highly polished. His long black hair was pulled back into a braid, accentuating a ruggedly striking face.

    As she watched him, her body began to tingle, pulse, and heat. When their eyes met, an electrical charge swept through her body, weakening her knees, clouding her mind, taking her breath, and Poni passed out.

    Mac, standing the closest to her, caught her as she began to fall, carried her outside, and sat her on a bench in a secluded part of the community garden behind the reception hall.

    I’ll be right back with a blanket. You sit there, take some deep breaths, and put your head between your knees so that you don’t pass out again, Mac said, as he turned to walk back into the hall.

    On his way back out with a blanket, Hawk stopped him. "What happened to the woman? Why did you carry
