    WOW!

N OW BEFORE I BEGIN PART 2, Five Days of the Hawk, well I need to ask for your forgiveness for all of the errors in the first three books. I was in a hurry to give you, my friend, a chance to read them before I died, because none of us know the day of the hour. And I experienced some great loses, and before I lost another day I wanted to begin to tell you the story of these events.

At first I was being haunted by a very serious dream, and that dream became the first book; because along with this dream there came a pounding headache, and the only way my head would ease, well I had to write. And the only problem with that was, well I was not a writer, well at least I wasn’t a writer then. But none the less that was the first book and the more I would write the more my headache would ease, So I kept writing and that first book kept growing into what I have now which is called Quest.

And other than the headache, that was fine. But here’s what happened as Quest begin to really develop. You see at the time I was eighteen years old when I woke up one morning at the house in Beaufort, South Carolina with the entire book in my head, and yes a very very bad headache. Let me repeat that once again like I said a very very bad headache….

Yes, and I talked a lot about my headache, well, because it was really throbbing….But when it was all written the headaches ceased and the pain moved from my head to my back, It was as if I was constantly being pushed forward and when ever I stopped moving forward the pain would start, and it was always just to the left of my spine. Sometimes it almost felt as if someone had just drove a dagger with an eight inch snake blade into his back with the torque of 96 pounds.

And oddly enough Stroke felt the same identical pain almost at the same moment

That Rebel had said, That mutherfucking Renegade is going to kill me.

Rebel said it and Stroke felt it, but none of it made sense to either of them. So they both just let it go and went on with the day they had planned.

IT WAS NOW LATE IN THE EVENING

The word was out and Adventure’s Inn was the word. Man! The place was packed wall to wall and tree top tall. Looka here! Looka here! Looka here!

There were people everywhere and they were all having a good time. Also, needless to say, But, The Bonda Berry Juice was a hit.

And Stroke was having a really good time, now having his chance to mix it up for the club and he was banging. Then it just got weird, because of some of the music he decided to play. Okay like ah, he threw cartoon theme songs in between Soul 2 Soul, and then he did something weird again when he mixed up a hit by Heavy D and the Boys, which he twisted in Public Enemy ‘911’s a joke.’

Then for more laughs he played a little Cab Calloway, you know ‘Minnie the Moocher.’ Yet, unexpectedly, Everyone in the house began to sing along. WEIRD…!!!

Well anyway, Rebel had been keeping close tabs on the time and when 11:30pm rolled around he made the first move, which was to gather the boys and then find Nikki.

Okay, Nikki, said Rebel as they stood outside in the parking lot near Sledge’s car. Have a safe trip and hurry back.

She was holding back the tears?

Hey! What’s going on? asked Diddily.

Shut up, you’re driving! said Sledge to Diddily.

What’s going on? Diddily asked, looking at Sledge.

Get in the car. Like I just said you’re driving

And with that said a disgruntle Diddily got in behind the steering wheel.

What’s wrong, Nikki, You don’t have to go if you don’t want to. said Blaze.

I know. she said, as she placed a pair of sunglasses over her eyes. I’ll be alright. Come on, let’s make it happen.

All right, said Rebel holding the back door open for her to enter. Don’t forget to call when you get to L.A.

I won’t forget, she said rolling down the window.

Crank up the car, Diddily. ordered Sledge, climbing into the front passenger seat.

I cant crank it up, said Diddily looking at Sledge.

    Why not,? asked Sledge.

I don’t have the keys. he said showing teeth.

After seeing them on their way Rebel and Blaze returned to the Hole. Rebel watched as Blaze veered away from him, Where are you going? asked Rebel now following Blaze.

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to go over and have myself a shot of Jim Beam, maybe I’ll have two shots.

Hey man, we agreed, no drinking during business hours.

Stupid rule.Stupid ass rule! Maybe you want to face your good friend sober with this, but I don’t. I think I’ll have a double Jim Beam. No. I think I’ll have a double Jack Daniels. Yeah, that’s it, a double Jack.

Rebel stopped and stood watching Blaze as he beckoned for a bartender to come to him. Hey, Blaze?

Look here, don’t try to stop me. I am going to have myself that drink.

Who’s trying to stop you, Smirked Rebel, as he joined him leaning against the bar. How about buying me one or two?

As they stood there about to consume their second drink, Stroke walked up behind them and stretched his arms out across both of their shoulders.

Hey now! Hey now! Hey now! What’s happening?

Blaze almost choked on his drink as it took a trip down the wrong way and Rebel spilled most of his.

What are you guys doing? Are you two drinking on the job? said Stroke as he took hold of Rebel’s drink glass.

Hey look, Stroke, we been talking over that no drinking on the job thing, so Rebel and I clocked out.

That’s a likely story. So what about you, Rebel, are you also off the clock, asked Stroke just before he took a sip from Rebels drink. Now that’s what I’m talking about. Ain’t nothing wrong wit a little Jack Daniel’s.

Hey! What are you doing down here, anyway, asked Rebel taking back the now empty glass from Stroke and placing it on the bar.

Randy came up and kicked me out. Anyway, right now I’m looking for Nikki, so we can do a little intimate embracing.

O really, said Blaze as he waved for a bartender, Another round here please.

Have either one of you seen her lately?

    Seen who? said Rebel.,

Who? Stroke said with a laugh, Nikki that’s who. You know, she’s five feet and five inches tall and dynamite.

    Oh Nikki! said Blaze.

Yeah Nikki! Have you seen her?

I can’t say that I have, said Blaze, then he consumed another double.

Stroke stepped back and looked them both over. Okay, so what’s going down?

What makes you think that there’s something going down? asked Blaze.

Just the way you two have been acting. You dudes know I can read you both like a book.

I think we should tell him, said Blaze.

Yeah, I think you better tell me.

Okay, said Rebel getting up from the bar stool. Stroke, follow me outside.

    Is Nikki out there?

    Yes.

Then lets make it happen, he turned and started on his way out.

Rebel started behind him, but then he noticed that Blaze was still seated at the bar waving at the bartenders for another round, so he reached back and yanked him from the stool. Blaze joined him, but he did so while he was motioning for the drinks to be there upon their return.

Out front in the parking lot Stroke stood near Corvenia looking about for Nikki. Okay, dudes, we’re out here and I don’t see her.

Did I say she was out HERE ? said Rebel.

No I don’t think you said that, added Blaze.

Damn it, dudes, cut the games. You see that’s why I didn’t tell you guys when I hit the lottery jackpot for all them Millions. Always playing. Okay, so she is not out here, then she must be inside.

No, she’s not in there either. said Blaze.

I hope you two are having fun with this.

Believe me, we’re not. said Rebel.

Alright, she’s not in Adventure’s and she’s not out here in the parking lot. So tell me where she is?

About halfway to the airport by now. said Blaze.

Why would she be going to the airport?

She’s catching a red-eye special to Los Angeles.

You big bone heads why didn’t you say that in the first place. he turned to walk across the lot, Damn, you guys, always playing games.

Yo, Stroke, where are you going? asked Rebel.

I am going to get my keys so I can catch Nikki before she leaves.

I can’t let you do that, said Rebel.

    "And why not?

    Gave Nikki my word.

Don’t worry about it, I’ll tell Nikki that you guys tried to stop me. He said and turned again toward Adventure’s.

Your keys aren’t in there, Stroke, said Rebel. And I don’t want you to throw one of your tantrums in front of our guest.

    Who’s gonna throw a tantrum?

Stop it, Stroke! She’s going to come back, said Blaze.

Well, what makes you think I want her to leave?

    Cool down, Stroke, insisted Rebel.

Stroke took a deep breath, Okay, I’m cool. Let me have my keys.

    I can’t do that.

Well then, I guess I’ll just have to hot wire Corvenia.

How do you plan to do that when the doors are locked? asked Blaze.

Stroke smiled, Watch this. he said walking back toward Corvenia. And as they watched, he made a fist with his right hand and before they had a chance to say…

    NO, STROKE, DON’T DO IT!

SMASHED! He threw a right punch that went straight through the passenger side window.

Stroke, you’re sick, said Rebel as he watched him stick his arm through the window to unlock the door.

Yeah! I’m sick of my friends using me, he said climbing into Corvenia.

Using you? You idiot. We’re trying to help you! And Nikki is trying to help you as well, and you won’t let her do anything.

Fuck you! Stroke said from under the dash.

Oh, really! Fuck me? Here take your damn keys! Said Rebel as he threw the keys into the car.

The engine turned over. You see what I mean. said Stroke as he finished twisting the wires together, then he sat up to look at them both. All of that, and you had my keys in your pocket all the time.

Yes I did. And if I had known you were going to act like the biggest ass hole in the world I would have given them to you to start with. So, you got it running, now go ahead and screw up her plans, Rebel took a good look at him and the state he was in, and he shook his head. Hey asshole look at his hand.

He looked at his hand and it was busted up pretty bad. Shit! he said as he laid his head on the steering wheel, then he looked up at Rebel.

I guess you want some help? First of all, you need to get out of that car, said Rebel as he snatched the door open. Just look at all these people looking at you.

    Yeah, well fuck them, too!

Well, that’s ease to say. But remember they don’t know the facts, therefore they don’t understand, So they probably think that you are unstable.

    Rebel, she’s gone.

She’s not gone and Sledge went with her. She’ll be back soon and everything will be all right. Come on, get out of that car and let me take you to the hospital.

Yeah, all right, he said climbing slowly from Corvenia, and Rebel walked with him over to his POV., then he started to give instructions.

Blaze, you take care of things until we get back.

Got cha, said Blaze, then he looked at the small crowd that had gathered. Okay folks the show out here is over. So, either move it inside or take it somewhere else.

Meanwhile at the Slovannah International Airport:

Nikki fasten her seat belt and remained quiet. Sledge watched the stewards as they finished going through the usual safety options.

Then Sledge glimpsed over toward Nikki and she was gazing out the window and appeared as if she may have been lost in deep thought.

Are you going to be alright? he asked. Or will you be requiring a barf bag?

I hate night flights, she said still looking out the window.

Would you like for me to pull the shade down?

No, leave everything just like it is, She said nervously as the plane began to taxi the runway, she looked over toward Sledge, We are flying during the day on our way back.

Here we go, said Sledge and as he looked back toward her he could see that she had her eyes closed tightly as she said a little prayer.

Sledge reached and found one of her hands. She squeezed his, so he gave her both to hold. They were now in the air and on their way.

Adventures Inn was closed and the crowd has long since gone. The Rebel was very reluctant to leave him there alone, but Stroke had assured him that he had experienced enough pain for the evening and there was noway he was going to do anything drastic. All he wanted now was to be alone, in order to think.

His first thought was to undue the wrap that they had put on his hand at the hospital. Luckily for him he had not fractured any bones in that hand, for he had already broken it twice before. After re-wrapping his hand, he had a second thought, and that was to get a bottle of Tequila and put a serious dent in it.

Time passed slowly as he sat alone with just the Tequila and his thoughts. But of course what composure he had was slipping away with every sip. Soon he found himself down in The Hole taking shots straight from the muscle. He just sort of looked around awhile totally lost in a very pitiful state of mind.

Yet, some how he managed to make his way onto the stage to sit down behind his Yamaha piano. He sat there and begin to force that piano to give up a little funky blues. And he continued until suddenly he was struck by a series of riffs that started to combine into something very interesting, he set the recorder in the Yamaha so he could capture the riff. He found a couple sheets of paper and tried to put some words together that were good enough for the run he had.

Once he completed the song, which he had not titled, he just stayed there and played it over, and over, and over again He played until he and the bottle were both exhausted.

Four and a half hours after the jet departed L.A.{Lovely Atlanta} it landed in L.A.{Los Angeles}. And Sherry was there with the limousine, just like she had told Nikki she would be.

Believe this; Nikki and Sledge were both happy to be out of the air and back on the ground. Even though they were still in for a long ride over to the San Fernando Valley.

But as the rode Nikki had a second thought as they left the city, she had an apartment at the Los Angeles mid-town Hilton, which she sometimes used as a hideaway, and since it was not as far from the airport, she decided that would definitely be the ideal spot to set up as their headquarters for the duration of their stay in L.A.

Sledge called Adventures but he got no answer. So he called Rebel’s house.

    Hello.

Yo, Rebel, this is Sledge. We’re here!

    That’s great! How’s Nikki doing?

    She’s doing just fine.

    Good…That’s great.

Would you like to speak to her?

    Yes.

Okay, just a minute. Sledge turned to call her over.

Hey, Nikki, Rebel wants to talk to you.

She got up from where she had been sitting talking to Sherry and walked over to take the phone. Hello, Rebel, How is Stroke.

Rebel had already decided to lie, He’s fine. Everything went well. he had to change the subject quickly, Have you made any calls to your contacts yet?

Come on, Rebel, we just got to L.A.

Okay, just remember that every minute is important. So don’t waste time.

    "Are you sure that
